Chapter 273: Do You Mind My Appearance?

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œDonโ€™t worry about it; he doesnโ€™t care,โ€ the woman across from her said. โ€œI just feel bad for that guy, though. A man like him deserves someone better. Itโ€™s such a waste.โ€ โ€œBesides, his looks are exactly my type. Iโ€™d love to have him for myself.โ€

As she spoke, the blonde woman eagerly walked over, holding a glass of wine. She completely ignored me and smiled at Benjamin. โ€œExcuse me, sir, may I offer you a drink?โ€

I calmly watched her, but Benjamin didnโ€™t hesitate to turn her down coldly. โ€œSorry, my fiancรฉe wouldnโ€™t approve.โ€

The woman was surprised. Her voice held disbelief. โ€œWhat? Sheโ€™s your fiancรฉe?โ€ She glanced at me, her eyes full of resentment. She glared at me briefly before turning away.

A human dared to treat me that way. Hera stirred uneasily inside me. I calmed her down. She was just a human; it wasnโ€™t worth getting upset over. Besides, we were in Smuilia, hiding the fact that we were werewolves. There was no need to reveal our true identities over something so trivial.

After the woman left, I turned to Benjamin, curious. โ€œBen, you donโ€™t mind my appearance?โ€ I knew that physical attraction played a big role in love, but I still hoped to hear something different from Benjamin.

โ€œDoes appearance matter? For me, when I choose a mate, things like background, looks, or education donโ€™t matter. I donโ€™t care about those things.โ€ Benjaminโ€™s expression was serious, almost stern.

โ€œBut youโ€™re an alpha, and being with someone like me, people will talk. Just like those two foreigners did earlier.โ€

Benjamin reached out and ruffled my hair. He asked, โ€œWhy care about what others think? We live for ourselves, not for the approval of others.โ€

His words made my heart tremble. I had never imagined that someone like him, despite my less-than-perfect appearance, would say something like that to me.

โ€œThank you, Benjamin,โ€ I said it sincerely, from the depths of my heart. Although I didnโ€™t often care about my looks, as an alpha from the Shadow Pack, my pride made it hard to accept others criticizing my appearance.

โ€œLetโ€™s eat before it gets cold,โ€ Benjamin said with a smile, urging me to eat.

I lowered my gaze, feeling conflicted. Should I tell Benjamin everything now? Iโ€™m the alpha of the Shadow Pack, on the same level as him, with top-tier skills. This face Iโ€™m using is just a disguise. My true appearance is stunning. Iโ€™m his racing goddess, Sara. Would Benjamin accept that?

โ€œBenjamin, can I ask you something?โ€ I clenched my hands, nervously looking at him. Benjamin nodded, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

I continued. โ€œIf one day you found out that someone youโ€™ve always trusted has been lying to you, what would you do?โ€

As soon as I spoke, the temperature in the room seemed to drop. I lifted my gaze to meet Benjaminโ€™s eyes. His expression turned cold, like a layer of ice had settled there.

โ€œThere are two things I canโ€™t tolerate in this world: betrayal and lies,โ€ Benjaminโ€™s voice was calm, as if he were discussing something trivial. But I knew these were his principles, his boundaries.

โ€œI was just asking casually, donโ€™t take it seriously,โ€ I quickly changed the subject, feeling guilty.

But Benjamin fixed his gaze on me, his tone serious. โ€œAs long as you donโ€™t do something I canโ€™t accept, this marriage can last.โ€

My back stiffened, and I felt like something was choking me. I quickly turned my head to the side and started coughing violently. Benjamin immediately handed me a glass of water. โ€œAre you okay?โ€

I shook my head, then looked at him seriously. โ€œBenjamin, actuallyโ€ฆโ€
