Chapter 276: He Must Still Be Alive

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œBoss, the pack and the company are in complete disarray right now. Everyone knows about Benjaminโ€™s situation, and no one is in charge.โ€

My heart sank, and I remembered Grandpa Southwellโ€™s last instructions. I pushed myself to stay focused. โ€œWhatโ€™s the current situation? Tell me everything.โ€

Henry continued, โ€œThe pack is managed okay, with Tyrone stepping in as second-in-command. But the shareholders of the Southwell Group are starting to stir things up, planning to hold a meeting to elect a new CEO.โ€

โ€œThese people have lost their minds,โ€ I said, my anger rising.

โ€œBoss, still no word on Ben? Iโ€™m worriedโ€ฆโ€ Henryโ€™s voice was filled with concern.

I quickly interrupted him, trying to reassure him. โ€œBen will be fine. Heโ€™s still alive.โ€

Though I said those words out loud, I was trying to comfort myself just as much as him. Benjamin, like me, was an alpha. His physical abilities were top-notch. Heโ€™ll hold on until we find him.

I looked up at the vast snow-covered mountains ahead of me, a quiet feeling deep inside telling me that Benjamin was still alive. Maybe he was just waiting for me to come and rescue him.

As this thought crossed my mind, I felt a rush of determination. โ€œHenry, if anything goes wrong with the company or if you need help, you can reach out to Thomas. Heโ€™ll help stabilize things.โ€

When I mentioned Thomas, Henry said no more. I quickly ended the call before he could process that I was close with Thomas.

Staring at the endless white landscape before me, I had made up my mind. I couldnโ€™t wait any longer. I had to find him!

I replayed the events of that day in my mind. Before I lost consciousness, I could still feel his warmth next to me. I remembered vividly the calming sense of peace from Hera. What if he had been right there beside me, and I didnโ€™t even notice?

Suddenly, a new realization hit me. I quickly called the rescue team. โ€œPlease, heโ€™s still out there. You have to help me find him!โ€

Seeing how desperate I was, the rescue team sighed in defeat. โ€œSorry, maโ€™am, weโ€™ve been searching this mountain for days. If there were any signs of life, our detectors would have picked them up. And itโ€™s been more than 72 hoursโ€”the critical window for rescue. Your friend is likely gone.โ€

Their words felt like a punch to my gut. I immediately corrected them with all the conviction I could muster. โ€œThatโ€™s impossible. Heโ€™s not dead! Stop saying that!โ€

The mountain could collapse again at any moment. We canโ€™t risk our lives for someone who might already be beyond saving.โ€

My heart sank, but I understood. Still, I couldnโ€™t give up. I had to believe Benjamin was alive. Heโ€™s such a strong alpha. How could he have died in an avalanche?

Then, I suddenly remembered something. Aunt Ivana had once told me that she had a team of highly trained beta warriors, the Moonguards, in Smulia.

There was no time to ponder this; I called Ivana right away. As soon as she understood what I was asking, she immediately made arrangements to send help.

I waited for a few hours until they finally arrived. When Ivana saw me, she immediately pulled me into a comforting hug. โ€œHayz, what happened to you?โ€

I grabbed her hand tightly and pleaded, โ€œAunt Ivana, Benjamin is still alive. Please, you have to save him.โ€

Ivana stroked my back gently, trying to comfort me. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Hayz. As long as thereโ€™s a chance, Iโ€™ll find him for you.โ€

After a brief preparation, I led the Moonguards up the mountain myself. At first, Ivana tried to stop me, but seeing how determined I was, she relented.

Relying on my memory, I led them to the spot where I had regained consciousness. โ€œItโ€™s here, Aunt Ivana! He canโ€™t be far.โ€

Ivana quickly scanned the area and commanded, โ€œQuick, check the surroundings. Is anyone here?โ€ She gave the order, and the Moonguards scattered to search for any sign of Benjamin.

After a thorough search, we found nothing, and I felt completely defeated. โ€œHow is this possible?โ€

I cried out in frustration, collapsing to the ground in the snow. I held my head in my hands and whispered, โ€œBenjamin, where are you?โ€

Hugging my knees, tears silently ran down my face, and I slammed my fists into the ground in frustration. Suddenly, I felt the snow beneath my feet shifting.

Ivana shouted from beside me. โ€œIs it an avalanche?โ€ We all looked around, but nothing catastrophic seemed to happen. โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€
