Chapter 339: Uneasy
Tannerโs POV:
I could tell Hayley was struggling to find the right words, so I said, โTake your time to think it over. No rush. Let me know when youโre ready.โ
She nodded and responded, โItโs not that. The pressure from learning cultural knowledge and werewolf combat training is intense right now, so I might not have much time to spare.โ
โThatโs fine. The clientโs wedding isnโt urgent. Itโs later this year,โ I reassured her.
Hayley nodded again. โAlright then. Tomorrowโs the weekend, so Iโll visit your studio and check things out.โ
Pleased that she agreed, I smiled and handed her the design files. โHere are my designs. Feel free to look them over.โ
She accepted the files and said, โSure, Iโll take a look.โ
With that, Hayley said goodbye to me and Benjamin before heading upstairs.
Benjamin gave me a sharp look, his gaze intense. โYouโre not just asking her for help, are you?โ
His Alpha presence was strong, and it made me uneasy.
I sighed. โIt seems like nothing escapes your notice.โ
He raised an eyebrow. โIf something is going on, just tell me.โ
I didnโt think there was a conclusion yet, so I replied, โIโm not sure yet, but I promise thereโs nothing else to it. I just want to confirm something I suspect.โ
Benjamin nodded. โAlright, I respect her decision.โ
I thanked him for understanding.
Hayleyโs POV:
I closed the door behind me, set down my backpack, and took a seat. Opening Tannerโs design files, I stayed up late to go through them all.
It was clear from the designs that Tanner had impressive skills. Achieving that level of expertise would take years of work. However, I noticed that his designs lacked originality and risk. His thinking seemed to be stuck in traditional patterns.
The next day, I arrived early at Tannerโs studio. Most of the employees were already there, and a few, like Teri, recognized me.
When Teri saw me, she greeted me warmly, โMs. Garson, what brings you here today?โ
I smiled and answered, โJust stopping by for a visit.โ
I knew Teri was grateful to me. Thanks to my guidance, sheโd improved her design work and was now promoted from an assistant to a rookie designer.
She kindly led me to a seat. โMs. Carson, please make yourself comfortable in the lounge. Iโll get you some coffee.โ
I declined, saying, โNo need. Iโll head to Tannerโs office.โ
Teri quickly responded, โLet me escort you there.โ
When Tanner saw me, he stood up right away. โHayley, youโre here!โ
I nodded and said directly, โSet up a place for me. Iโll get started soon.โ
Tanner smiled. โNo rush. Iโve already prepared an office for you. Take a moment to rest first. Teri will take you there.โ
Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock on the door. โMr. Southwell, Ms. Kilmer is here.โ
At the mention of her name, Tannerโs expression shifted, but he quickly regained his professional composure. โTell her to wait in the meeting room. Iโll be there shortly.โ
โYes, Mr. Southwell.โ
Noticing that Tanner had business to attend to, I stood up. โSince youโre busy, Iโll just have your assistant show me to the office.โ
โAlright,โ he agreed, โTeri will take you.โ
As we left his office, Teri hurried to say, โMs. Carson, this way.โ
But as we turned the corner, Hera suddenly became restless. Confused, I looked up and saw Madeline walking toward me.
