Chapter 339: Uneasy

Tannerโ€™s POV:

I could tell Hayley was struggling to find the right words, so I said, โ€œTake your time to think it over. No rush. Let me know when youโ€™re ready.โ€

She nodded and responded, โ€œItโ€™s not that. The pressure from learning cultural knowledge and werewolf combat training is intense right now, so I might not have much time to spare.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s fine. The clientโ€™s wedding isnโ€™t urgent. Itโ€™s later this year,โ€ I reassured her.

Hayley nodded again. โ€œAlright then. Tomorrowโ€™s the weekend, so Iโ€™ll visit your studio and check things out.โ€

Pleased that she agreed, I smiled and handed her the design files. โ€œHere are my designs. Feel free to look them over.โ€

She accepted the files and said, โ€œSure, Iโ€™ll take a look.โ€

With that, Hayley said goodbye to me and Benjamin before heading upstairs.

Benjamin gave me a sharp look, his gaze intense. โ€œYouโ€™re not just asking her for help, are you?โ€

His Alpha presence was strong, and it made me uneasy.

I sighed. โ€œIt seems like nothing escapes your notice.โ€

He raised an eyebrow. โ€œIf something is going on, just tell me.โ€

I didnโ€™t think there was a conclusion yet, so I replied, โ€œIโ€™m not sure yet, but I promise thereโ€™s nothing else to it. I just want to confirm something I suspect.โ€

Benjamin nodded. โ€œAlright, I respect her decision.โ€

I thanked him for understanding.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

I closed the door behind me, set down my backpack, and took a seat. Opening Tannerโ€™s design files, I stayed up late to go through them all.

It was clear from the designs that Tanner had impressive skills. Achieving that level of expertise would take years of work. However, I noticed that his designs lacked originality and risk. His thinking seemed to be stuck in traditional patterns.

The next day, I arrived early at Tannerโ€™s studio. Most of the employees were already there, and a few, like Teri, recognized me.

When Teri saw me, she greeted me warmly, โ€œMs. Garson, what brings you here today?โ€

I smiled and answered, โ€œJust stopping by for a visit.โ€

I knew Teri was grateful to me. Thanks to my guidance, sheโ€™d improved her design work and was now promoted from an assistant to a rookie designer.

She kindly led me to a seat. โ€œMs. Carson, please make yourself comfortable in the lounge. Iโ€™ll get you some coffee.โ€

I declined, saying, โ€œNo need. Iโ€™ll head to Tannerโ€™s office.โ€

Teri quickly responded, โ€œLet me escort you there.โ€

When Tanner saw me, he stood up right away. โ€œHayley, youโ€™re here!โ€

I nodded and said directly, โ€œSet up a place for me. Iโ€™ll get started soon.โ€

Tanner smiled. โ€œNo rush. Iโ€™ve already prepared an office for you. Take a moment to rest first. Teri will take you there.โ€

Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock on the door. โ€œMr. Southwell, Ms. Kilmer is here.โ€

At the mention of her name, Tannerโ€™s expression shifted, but he quickly regained his professional composure. โ€œTell her to wait in the meeting room. Iโ€™ll be there shortly.โ€

โ€œYes, Mr. Southwell.โ€

Noticing that Tanner had business to attend to, I stood up. โ€œSince youโ€™re busy, Iโ€™ll just have your assistant show me to the office.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ he agreed, โ€œTeri will take you.โ€

As we left his office, Teri hurried to say, โ€œMs. Carson, this way.โ€

But as we turned the corner, Hera suddenly became restless. Confused, I looked up and saw Madeline walking toward me.
