Alpha Hayley's Destined Mate

Chapter 344: A Question for You

Hayley's POV:

Teri turned around and asked, โ€œMs. Carson, is there anything else you need?โ€

I paused my drawing and slowly looked up at her. Her eyes were as clear and innocent as usual, but as an Alpha, my sharp instincts told me something felt off about her today.

โ€œTeri, I need to ask you something,โ€ I said, studying her closely.

Teri nodded. โ€œOf course, Ms. Carson. Whatโ€™s on your mind?โ€

I examined her carefully. โ€œYesterday, something went missing from my office. Did you happen to see anyone come in during lunch?โ€

As soon as I spoke, Teriโ€™s face showed genuine surprise. โ€œYou lost something? What was it? Is it valuable?โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ve never had anything like this happen here. Maybe you should check again.โ€

I looked at her, then spoke deliberately. โ€œItโ€™s not valuable, but itโ€™s missing. Maybe I should report it to the police.โ€

โ€œThis thief is despicable,โ€ I said. โ€œI remember the Midnight Packโ€™s lawsโ€”serious theft means the criminal will lose their wolf. Theyโ€™ll be less than human.โ€

Teriโ€™s expression didnโ€™t change.

โ€œMs. Carson, donโ€™t you think contacting the police is a bit extreme? If itโ€™s just a small item, maybe itโ€™s not worth involving the police. After all, it might affect the studioโ€™s reputation.โ€

I couldnโ€™t help but sneer inwardly, already suspecting her involvement. But I said nothing and simply nodded. โ€œYouโ€™re right. Itโ€™s not important. But I wonโ€™t let the thief get away. You can go now.โ€

I noticed a slight tremor in Teriโ€™s body before she walked out without saying anything further. Once she was gone, I clenched my hands in frustration.

Teriโ€™s POV:

After leaving Hayleyโ€™s office, I couldnโ€™t help but breathe a sigh of relief, patting my chest. Just then, I saw Madeline walking in with an unfamiliar woman.

I quickly approached her. โ€œMs. Kilmer, what brings you here?โ€

Madeline glanced at me with a neutral expression before saying, โ€œIs your boss here?โ€

I led Madeline to Timmerโ€™s office.

Tannerโ€™s POV:

When I saw Madeline, a wave of irritation washed over me.

โ€œTanner!โ€ Madeline greeted me with a smile, and I gave a brief nod in return. We had grown up together, so we were familiar with each other. But after the last incident, I couldnโ€™t look at her the same way. The warmth I once felt had faded, replaced by mere politeness.

โ€œThe dress you asked us to design isnโ€™t ready yet. Thereโ€™s no need for you to visit the studio so often. Iโ€™ll let you know when itโ€™s done,โ€ I said, keeping my tone cold.

Madeline smiled. โ€œDonโ€™t be so serious. Do I look like Iโ€™m here to rush you? Actuallyโ€ฆโ€ She gestured to the designer beside her. โ€œYou must know this designer.โ€

I glanced up at the woman next to her, squinting. She was the one whose design matched Hayleyโ€™s. If I hadnโ€™t seen Hayleyโ€™s work first, I might have thought Hayley copied her. But I knew Hayleyโ€™s design came first, and I trusted her integrity. Benjamin would never pick someone to be the Luna of the Midnight Pack who would resort to plagiarism. That trust, though hard to explain, was unshakable in my mind. So, when I saw the woman Madeline had brought, I felt nothing but disdain.

I asked curtly, โ€œWho is this?โ€
