Chapter 352: The SAT Exam
Hayleyโs POV
I glanced calmly at the headline, feeling surprisingly at ease. This woman got what she deserved. If it were under my management at Shadow Pack, I would haveโฆ
After being discharged from the hospital, Benjamin drove me to school. Before I got out of the car, he reminded me, โYou donโt need to give Tanner the design drafts for now. Heโs not in a rush for them.โ
โAnd as for you,โ he added, โyouโve got the SAT coming up soon, so youโd better buckle down and study.โ
I flashed him a playful smile, sticking out my tongue. โAlright, alright. When did you become so chatty?โ
As I spoke, I unbuckled my seatbelt. โYou donโt need to pick me up this afternoon. Iโll be going back with Henry.โ
Benjamin nodded, and after I got out, he drove away.
When I walked into the classroom, I immediately spotted Belle. In the past, whenever she saw me, she would use her position as a beta to mock and belittle me, feeling superior. But today, I could tell that she had changed. She was hiding behind a book, trying to make herself as unnoticeable as possible. I knew it was because of what had happened with her cousin. Madelineโs situation had clearly been a wake-up call for Belle, making her realize that no one had the right to mess with meโeven if I was just an Omega.
Not only that, but Belle also came up to apologize. โHayley, I was wrong before. I shouldnโt have spread rumors about you, causing damage to your reputation. I shouldnโt have gone against you. I truly want to apologize,โ she said, bowing her head, her voice meek.
I was working on my homework when I heard this. I furrowed my brow and slowly looked up at her. Without holding back, I asked, โAre you putting on a show?โ
Belle immediately denied it. โNo, Iโm serious. I really want to apologize. Weโre all classmates, and I hope we can get along.โ
I didnโt respond, continuing to write. Yet, Belle didnโt move from where she stood.
Chapter 357: The SAT Exam
โHayley, could you say something? The way youโre acting is making me nervous,โ she said, her voice trembling, as if she might start crying any second.
Her words were beginning to annoy me, and Hera seemed to be getting irritated by her presence as well. I stopped writing, wanting her to leave quickly. โIf youโre done here, go study. Donโt be an eyesore in front of me. Iโm someone whoโs clear about who I like and who I donโt. Itโs best you donโt bother me.โ
After I said that, Belle seemed to understand that I had decided to let her off the hook this time. She looked relieved and, with a nervous smile, nodded at me before going back to her seat.
I didnโt pay her much attention after that. Once I finished my homework, I instinctively turned to Christineโs desk. โChristine, weโฆโ But then I realized Christine wasnโt there anymore.
I sighed as I looked at her empty seat. It had been a long time since Christine left, and I still hadnโt adapted to her absence. I didnโt even know how she was doing abroad. Thinking about it made me feel a wave of sadness. Christine was the first real friend Iโd made here, and now, I didnโt even have any news about her. I sighed again, looking away and trying to focus on my work, but I had lost all interest.
After school that afternoon, I walked alone down the small path leading out of the campus. As I reached the school gate, I heard a car horn. Immediately, my phone in my pocket buzzed. โHayley, itโs me! Iโm at your ten oโclock. Get in the car!โ
It was Christopher. What could it be about?
