Chapter 373: Is There a Connection Between Them?

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

โ€œMs. Harmony, your voice has remarkable potential, and youโ€™ve achieved so much in the industry. Why did you decide to retire?โ€

Hazel lifted her gaze to meet mine. I stared at her. She was the first to look away. That feelingโ€ฆ it was so familiar. It was exactly how Hayley and I used to look at each other.

I couldnโ€™t help but wonder why I kept seeing Hayley in Hazel. Is there some kind of connection between them? Even my wolf seemed to sense something similar. The more I thought about it, the more I realized they shared the same last name. Could they somehow be related?

Before I could think any further, Hazel began to answer my question. โ€œActually, I retired because I injured my throat. I thought Iโ€™d never be able to sing again, so I decided it was the right time to step away from the spotlight. After treatment, my throat healed, but I didnโ€™t want to return to the industry. So, I decided not to come back. This time, though, Iโ€™m doing it for a friend. She lost her memory, but before she did, she really loved listening to my music. I hope my music can help her regain some of the memories she lost.โ€

She explained, her voice filled with emotion. I couldnโ€™t help but feel moved by her words.

โ€œI see. You really value your connections with others. It must be a blessing to be your friend,โ€ I said, admiring her.

Hazel smiled softly. โ€œThank you. Iโ€™m just doing what I can, and for the rest, I leave it to fate.โ€

As I looked at her, I realized that not only did she remind me of Hayley, but even her speaking style was similar. How could two people be so similar in their manners yet look so different? One of them was a beta-level werewolf, and the other was an Omega.

After thinking it over, I decided to ask her a question. โ€œHazel, I hope itโ€™s not too forward.โ€

โ€œGo ahead!โ€

โ€œDo you have a twin sister or perhaps a sister who shares the same mother?โ€

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

When I heard Benjaminโ€™s question, my heart thumped a little, and I felt a jolt of nervousness. Had Benjamin figured something out?

Seeing the confusion on his face, I calmly replied, โ€œIโ€™m an only child.โ€

Benjamin looked at me for a moment, then fell silent for a few seconds before saying, โ€œSorry, I just thought you looked so much like someone I know. Please donโ€™t take offense.โ€

I feigned curiosity and asked, โ€œWho are you referring to? Your destined mate? I heard you have a fiancรฉe. Whatโ€™s she like?โ€ That question blurted out instinctively. As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted it. Why did I have to make it about me? But deep down, I couldnโ€™t help but want to hear what Benjamin thought of me, even if it was through someone elseโ€™s perspective.

โ€œMs. Harmony, I think you might have some kind of mind-reading ability,โ€ Benjamin said with a candid look. โ€œThe person I was referring to is my fiancรฉe. Sheโ€™s someone who makes me feel really comfortable.โ€

I was a bit surprised by his answer. Just as I was about to respond, the door to the private room opened. Thomas and Lonnie stepped inside.

โ€œMs. Harmony and Mr. Southwell! What are you two discussing?โ€ Lonnie asked.

โ€œNothing, just a casual conversation,โ€ I replied coolly. Lonnie didnโ€™t ask any further questions. Clearly, after Thomasโ€™s warning, Lonnie no longer dared to connect me with Benjamin.

The dinner ended on a perfect note. On the way back, Thomas was driving while I stared out the window, a strong feeling of unease gnawing at me. After a while, I couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œThomas, do you think Benjamin might already know who I really am?โ€
