Chapter 382: Worried About Benjamin
Hayleyโs POV:
โMr. Christopher, please listen to Alpha,โ Lista continued, trying to convince him.
Christopher frowned, thinking for a moment before saying, โLet me know immediately if there is any news.โ
โI will. Donโt worry. Everything will be fine with Mr. and Mrs. Southwell,โ Lista reassured us.
I saw that Christopher had given up on going to Arcadia. To avoid worrying Benjamin, I decided to follow his advice and stay behind as well.
Now, all I could do was pray that everything would turn out alright. That night, the lights at the Southwellsโ Residence stayed on. With Benjaminโs safety on my mind and hoping for good news about his parents, I couldnโt sleep at all. Thankfully, being Alpha kept me energized, so I was still wide awake the next morning.
I got up early and immediately asked Lista, โIs there any news yet?โ
Lista shook her head. โNot yet, Ms. Carson. But no news is good news.โ
I felt a bit disappointed but replied, โI hope theyโre okay.โ
Just then, the phone in the hall rang. I rushed over to answer it, โHello? Is this Benjamin?โ
A familiar male voice came through. โItโs me. Youโre up so early.โ
I asked anxiously, โHowโs everything over there? Are your parents alright?โ
โI still havenโt found them. I just wanted to let you know not to worry. I was in such a rush yesterday. I forgot to tell you. Sorry,โ Benjaminโs voice sounded tired and rough.
I felt for him and quickly reassured him, โItโs okay. Take care of yourself. Keep us updated if you hear anything. If you need help, I can get our Shadow Packโs Beta enforcers to assist.โ
Just then, Christopher walked over, and I handed him the phone. โIโll let Christopher talk to you. He has something to say.โ
After a brief exchange between the two brothers, Christopher hung up the phone. With news from Benjamin, I finally eased my worries.
With exams over and the fan meeting behind me, I found myself with some free time. I decided to take the opportunity to visit Shadow Pack and see my grandparents. So, I packed my things and headed home that afternoon.
As I entered Shadow Packโs territory, the familiar sights along the way filled me with comfort. After six months away, I had been longing to return. My Beta driver picked me up from the airport, and the car made its way across the vast grasslands, eventually stopping in front of a grand manor.
I excitedly got out of the car and hurried into the manor, where Hera led me straight to the backyard. I could already smell the familiar scent of Grandpa and Grandma. Soon enough, I found them chatting contentedly under the grape arbor.
As soon as they heard me, they both turned around. I immediately regained control of my body, smiled, and greeted them warmly, โGrandpa, Grandma, Iโm back!โ I ran over and gave them both a hug.
โHayz, youโre back!โ
โWhy didnโt you tell us you were coming? And whereโs Ben?โ Grandpa asked, looking around.
I quickly explained, โGrandpa, he had some things to take care of and couldnโt come.โ
Grandpa looked a little disappointed. โHow thoughtless of you! You didnโt even bring my grandson-in-law back for a drink,โ he said with a smile.
I linked arms with him and replied, โAlright, Grandpa. Are you not happy to see me?โ
โOf course, Iโm happy! Iโm thrilled to have you back!โ he said, laughing.
โStop standing around. Come sit down, Hayz. I heard your exams are over. Whatโs next for you?โ Grandma said, pulling over a rocking chair for me to sit in.
When I spotted the familiar rocking chair, I immediately took a seat. As I gazed up at the sky, I let out a sigh. โItโs been so long since I sat here and had a chat with both of you.โ
Grandma smiled warmly and quickly asked the maid to bring out my favorite fruits. We spent some time talking about family matters. When the topic of my Ivy League application came up, Grandpa suddenly asked, โYouโve already studied abroad before becoming Alpha. Do you want to attend a university again?โ
