Chapter 386: Rumors

Hayleyโ€™s POV

She courteously informed me, โ€œOur university is aware of your excellent academic performance and wants to know if youโ€™re considering joining us. If you choose to enroll at our university, weโ€™ll cover your tuition fees for all four years, give you a monthly stipend, and secure a scholarship for your first year. Would you like to take advantage of this offer?โ€

Without thinking, I immediately asked, โ€œAre the perks really that amazing?โ€

She gave a warm smile and replied, โ€œAbsolutely! Our universityโ€™s reputation speaks for itself, and we ensure fairness. No matter the werewolfโ€™s rank, everyone receives the same rewards and benefits. You wonโ€™t regret becoming part of our university. If youโ€™re ready, we can arrange for someone to meet you today to finalize the agreement.โ€

Just as I was about to respond after a brief moment of thought, my phone began to ring. I quickly said, โ€œApologies! I need to take this call.โ€ I picked up the call immediately.

โ€œHello, Hayley. This is Rivermount University. Have you considered applying to our university?โ€

โ€œAre you really with Rivermount University?โ€ I asked, skeptical.

โ€œThatโ€™s correct, Hayley! Weโ€™ve reviewed your academic performance, and while thereโ€™s no obligation, weโ€™d love for you to consider us. We offer top-tier programs tailored to your needs, along with full financial support for tuition, living costs, and semestral scholarships if you join us.โ€

Hearing this, everything started to make sense to me. Iโ€™d heard rumors that before SAT scores were announced, the nationโ€™s leading universities would visit different packs to attract the most talented werewolf students. I always thought those stories were blown out of proportion, but now I knew they were entirely true.

โ€œActually, New College just called me a moment ago,โ€ I mentioned to the person on the line.

โ€œWhat! Youโ€™re thinking about applying to New College? No way, our university is a much better choice,โ€ the voice on the other end exclaimed, clearly animated.

โ€œBesides, as an Omega, New College wouldnโ€™t be a good fit for you. Their hierarchy is rigid, and thereโ€™s a high chance youโ€™d face prejudice from higher-ranking werewolves. Rivermount University would be a far better environment for you.โ€

I responded calmly, โ€œIโ€™ll take some time to think it over.โ€

โ€œOf course, please do! Weโ€™d be thrilled to have you joining us.โ€

Both New College and Rivermount University even went as far as sending representatives to the Midnight Pack, urging me to consider their schools. In an instant, the Southwells turned into a hub of activity.

After speaking with several admissions officers, I couldnโ€™t shake my curiosity about my actual scores. However, none of them were willing to reveal the details, leaving me feeling exasperated.

โ€œHayley, have you made up your mind yet? Will you be joining New College, or are you leaning towards Rivermount?โ€ The New College admissions officer stared at me with anticipation.

Meeting their expectant gaze, I offered a sly smile. โ€œWell, I believe Iโ€™ll wait until I see my actual scores before deciding where to apply. Itโ€™s a bit too soon to make a choice now.โ€

Hearing this, the Rivermount representative jumped in enthusiastically. โ€œDo you even need to check your scores? Youโ€™ve achieved perfect marks in several subjectsโ€”youโ€™re incredible!โ€

My heart raced at the idea of achieving perfect scores in multiple subjects. โ€œReally?โ€ I asked, my voice tinged with excitement.

Seeing the anticipation in my eyes, the Rivermount admissions officer hesitated but eventually gave in. โ€œFine, youโ€™ll know soon enough anyway, so I might as well tell you now.โ€

The New College representative standing nearby frowned, clearly displeased. โ€œThatโ€™s against the agreementโ€”we all decided not to reveal her scores ahead of time!โ€

โ€œWe at New College would be honored to have you, Hayley, but if you find a better option, weโ€™ll of course respect your choice,โ€ the New College representative said, handing me a transcript.

โ€œHayley, you might want to brace yourself.โ€
