Chapter 386: Rumors
Hayleyโs POV
She courteously informed me, โOur university is aware of your excellent academic performance and wants to know if youโre considering joining us. If you choose to enroll at our university, weโll cover your tuition fees for all four years, give you a monthly stipend, and secure a scholarship for your first year. Would you like to take advantage of this offer?โ
Without thinking, I immediately asked, โAre the perks really that amazing?โ
She gave a warm smile and replied, โAbsolutely! Our universityโs reputation speaks for itself, and we ensure fairness. No matter the werewolfโs rank, everyone receives the same rewards and benefits. You wonโt regret becoming part of our university. If youโre ready, we can arrange for someone to meet you today to finalize the agreement.โ
Just as I was about to respond after a brief moment of thought, my phone began to ring. I quickly said, โApologies! I need to take this call.โ I picked up the call immediately.
โHello, Hayley. This is Rivermount University. Have you considered applying to our university?โ
โAre you really with Rivermount University?โ I asked, skeptical.
โThatโs correct, Hayley! Weโve reviewed your academic performance, and while thereโs no obligation, weโd love for you to consider us. We offer top-tier programs tailored to your needs, along with full financial support for tuition, living costs, and semestral scholarships if you join us.โ
Hearing this, everything started to make sense to me. Iโd heard rumors that before SAT scores were announced, the nationโs leading universities would visit different packs to attract the most talented werewolf students. I always thought those stories were blown out of proportion, but now I knew they were entirely true.
โActually, New College just called me a moment ago,โ I mentioned to the person on the line.
โWhat! Youโre thinking about applying to New College? No way, our university is a much better choice,โ the voice on the other end exclaimed, clearly animated.
โBesides, as an Omega, New College wouldnโt be a good fit for you. Their hierarchy is rigid, and thereโs a high chance youโd face prejudice from higher-ranking werewolves. Rivermount University would be a far better environment for you.โ
I responded calmly, โIโll take some time to think it over.โ
โOf course, please do! Weโd be thrilled to have you joining us.โ
Both New College and Rivermount University even went as far as sending representatives to the Midnight Pack, urging me to consider their schools. In an instant, the Southwells turned into a hub of activity.
After speaking with several admissions officers, I couldnโt shake my curiosity about my actual scores. However, none of them were willing to reveal the details, leaving me feeling exasperated.
โHayley, have you made up your mind yet? Will you be joining New College, or are you leaning towards Rivermount?โ The New College admissions officer stared at me with anticipation.
Meeting their expectant gaze, I offered a sly smile. โWell, I believe Iโll wait until I see my actual scores before deciding where to apply. Itโs a bit too soon to make a choice now.โ
Hearing this, the Rivermount representative jumped in enthusiastically. โDo you even need to check your scores? Youโve achieved perfect marks in several subjectsโyouโre incredible!โ
My heart raced at the idea of achieving perfect scores in multiple subjects. โReally?โ I asked, my voice tinged with excitement.
Seeing the anticipation in my eyes, the Rivermount admissions officer hesitated but eventually gave in. โFine, youโll know soon enough anyway, so I might as well tell you now.โ
The New College representative standing nearby frowned, clearly displeased. โThatโs against the agreementโwe all decided not to reveal her scores ahead of time!โ
โWe at New College would be honored to have you, Hayley, but if you find a better option, weโll of course respect your choice,โ the New College representative said, handing me a transcript.
โHayley, you might want to brace yourself.โ
