Chapter 4: Iโ€™ll Teach You a Lesson, Omega!

Hayleyโ€™s POV

โ€œDid you know? When youโ€™re near me, my wolf doesnโ€™t react at all. I doubt even the Moon Goddess would match me with someone like you.โ€

I could not help but chuckle at his naive comment. Naturally, his wolf wouldn't react because I had masked my scent. Only wolves of a higher rank than me, like an Alpha, could detect it. Having assumed the Alpha role at a young age, my sensesโ€”smell, sight, hearingโ€”are far superior to those of an average werewolf.

That was when I noticed Irving, who had been quietly dining, picking up his phone to type a message: โ€œDespite being an Omega, she carries herself with elegance and a strong presence. Is it just my imagination?โ€

I gave a slight smile. Irving seemed more perceptive, certainly more so than the petulant Henry. Interestingly, Henry and I were the same age. The Alpha of the Midnight Pack had arranged for us to attend the same private school before my arrival.

โ€œHayley, you better not tell anyone at school that we know each other!โ€ Henry warned as he left the table.

I gave him a disdainful look and stood up to head to school. Irving offered to drive me, which puzzled me. Arenโ€™t Henry and I at the same school? Why not have the driver take us both?

โ€œGrandpa wants each of us to spend time with you. So, the five of us take turns driving you to school from Monday to Friday and hanging out with you on weekends. Ben was supposed to drive you this morning, but he had a meeting, so I stepped in.โ€

His tone carried a hint of reluctance. I rolled my eyesโ€”I was not exactly excited about it either. After dropping me off at school, Irving departed.

Standing in front of Hawthorne Private School, I looked up at the gleaming gold plaqueโ€”it had been a while since I had been in a school environment, and it felt refreshingly good. After registering, I followed the teacher to my classroom.

The moment I entered, the room erupted into whispers, with students snickering and gossiping.

โ€œThatโ€™s the future daughter-in-law of the Southwells? Sheโ€™s so plain, how could she be a match for the five handsome brothers?โ€

โ€œSeriously, just an Omega? This person could potentially become Luna of Midnight Pack! Unbelievable and unacceptable!โ€

I had just gotten there, and already they were treating me like an enemy. Clearly, I didnโ€™t need to guess who was behind thisโ€”Henryโ€™s antics were downright childish. No one in the class wanted to sit next to me. That didnโ€™t bother me; I chose a quiet corner and settled in.

After class, as I headed to the restroom, a few students blocked my path. A group of Beta girls transformed into their wolf forms, growling to intimidate me, the โ€œOmega.โ€

Annalise Peterson bared her teeth, her eyes filled with hostility. โ€œYou must be Hayley Carson. Just a piece of adviceโ€”be smart, leave the Southwells, and get out of the Midnight Pack!โ€

Inside, Hera stirred, itching to respond to these lower-level werewolves. โ€œLet me handle this. Iโ€™ll show these Betas how to respect an Alpha!โ€

โ€œCalm down, Hera,โ€ I soothed. โ€œRemember, Iโ€™m undercover as an Omega. We canโ€™t blow our cover, but even so, I wonโ€™t let them push me around.โ€

I resisted letting Hera take over; her formidable size and power would instantly give away my true rank. Her aggressive nature could also easily injure the Betas, sparking unnecessary conflict.

As I was internally communicating with Hera, Annaliseโ€™s sidekick piped up, โ€œHey, Ugly, didnโ€™t you hear Annalise? Are you deaf?โ€

I brushed off her comment with a nonchalant, โ€œI heard her. Iโ€™m not leaving. Iโ€™m staying right here.โ€

โ€œIf thatโ€™s the case, donโ€™t blame us if we have to teach you a lesson, Omega!โ€ she hissed and lunged at me.
