Chapter 409: Transformed into a Different Breed of Werewolf
Hayleyโs POV
โHayley!โ Benjamin shouted my name loudly. He arrived so quickly that even Hera didnโt have time to feel excited or thrilled. Right before my eyes, he transformed, surrendering his body to his wolf form. The towering and ferocious Lawrence lunged toward me instantly.
Before the man pinning me down could react, Lawrence sank his teeth into his neck, killing him instantly. Several men with witch bloodlines immediately transformed into a different breed of werewolf, surrounding and attacking Lawrence together. Yet, it took Lawrence less than ten minutes to defeat them all.
Once the fight was over, Lawrence retreated, returning control of the body to Benjamin. He rushed to my side without hesitation, taking off his jacket and draping it over my shoulders. The only two surviving, ugly, mixed-race werewolves had reverted to their human forms. They glanced at Benjamin, trembling as they struggled to their feet, clearly desperate to escape.
Before they could move, Tanner stepped in front of them, blocking their path. With a low growl, he sneered, โRunning? Whatโs stopping you now?โ The two gravely injured men dropped to the ground, begging, โThis is all a misunderstanding! Please, spare us! Weโll ensure you gain favor with the witches.โ
Tannerโs lips twisted into a cold smirk. โA misunderstanding? Offering me favors? Iโm afraid you wonโt get that chanceโฆโ Just as he finished speaking, the sound of police sirens echoed from outside.
โBoss, what do we do? The outside is full of beta cops. We canโt run nowโฆโ One of the men, looking more like a lackey, grew increasingly anxious.
To his surprise, the leader remained surprisingly calm. โWhatโs there to fear? Itโs just a trip to the police station for a chat. Whatโs the worst that could happen? But as for thisโฆโ The man glared at Tanner. โOnce weโre out, weโll make sure to kill you.โ
Tanner met his glare without flinching, replying calmly, โYou wonโt get that chance.โ Before the words even left his mouth, the police arrived. They saluted Benjamin respectfully before handcuffing the two men.
Once the officers had escorted them to the car, they turned to Tanner. โMr. Tanner, could you please comeโฆโ
Tanner nodded at me and Benjamin, then turned to the officers, cooperatively saying, โOf course, Iโll go over right away.โ
Once everyone had left, Benjamin pulled me into his arms, gently checking to see if I was injured. His eyes were filled with concern as he comforted me, his hand gently patting my back. โItโs okay, youโre safe now. Iโm here.โ In his arms, Hera, much like me, relaxed entirely.
Ignoring Heraโs disgruntled huff, I slowly pulled away from his embrace. โDo you know, at that momentโฆโ Before I could finish my sentence, Benjamin leaned in and kissed me, silencing all my words. The kiss lasted for a long moment, and when he finally pulled away, his voice was hoarse as he said, โLetโs not talk about it right now. Come back with me.โ
I nodded, and Benjamin helped me to my feet, scanning me from head to toe to make sure I was alright. Satisfied, he lifted me in his arms and carried me out. We didnโt speak as we made our way down the road.
I felt a little scared. If Hera hadnโt woken up at the crucial moment, if Benjamin and the others hadnโt arrived just in time, they would have succeeded. I still couldnโt understand who would go to such extremes, plotting to kill me.
The car came to a stop in front of my apartment complex. Benjamin took my hand, guiding me as we entered the elevator together and headed upstairs. I opened the door and stepped aside to make room. โCome in.โ Benjamin followed me inside.
Once I had calmed down, I turned to him and asked, โHow did you know I was in trouble?โ
Benjamin explained, โWhen you didnโt come back, I called you, but your phone was off. So, I asked Tanner.โ He quickly summarized what happened next.
After hearing his explanation, I hugged him tightly and said with sincere gratitude, โThank you. If you hadnโt shown up in timeโฆ I canโt even imagine the consequences.โ
Benjamin gently stroked my face, a smile playing at his lips. โSo, youโre saying itโs not safe for an Omega like you to stay out here on your own? Maybe you should consider moving back in with me.โ
