Chapter 409: Transformed into a Different Breed of Werewolf

Hayleyโ€™s POV

โ€œHayley!โ€ Benjamin shouted my name loudly. He arrived so quickly that even Hera didnโ€™t have time to feel excited or thrilled. Right before my eyes, he transformed, surrendering his body to his wolf form. The towering and ferocious Lawrence lunged toward me instantly.

Before the man pinning me down could react, Lawrence sank his teeth into his neck, killing him instantly. Several men with witch bloodlines immediately transformed into a different breed of werewolf, surrounding and attacking Lawrence together. Yet, it took Lawrence less than ten minutes to defeat them all.

Once the fight was over, Lawrence retreated, returning control of the body to Benjamin. He rushed to my side without hesitation, taking off his jacket and draping it over my shoulders. The only two surviving, ugly, mixed-race werewolves had reverted to their human forms. They glanced at Benjamin, trembling as they struggled to their feet, clearly desperate to escape.

Before they could move, Tanner stepped in front of them, blocking their path. With a low growl, he sneered, โ€œRunning? Whatโ€™s stopping you now?โ€ The two gravely injured men dropped to the ground, begging, โ€œThis is all a misunderstanding! Please, spare us! Weโ€™ll ensure you gain favor with the witches.โ€

Tannerโ€™s lips twisted into a cold smirk. โ€œA misunderstanding? Offering me favors? Iโ€™m afraid you wonโ€™t get that chanceโ€ฆโ€ Just as he finished speaking, the sound of police sirens echoed from outside.

โ€œBoss, what do we do? The outside is full of beta cops. We canโ€™t run nowโ€ฆโ€ One of the men, looking more like a lackey, grew increasingly anxious.

To his surprise, the leader remained surprisingly calm. โ€œWhatโ€™s there to fear? Itโ€™s just a trip to the police station for a chat. Whatโ€™s the worst that could happen? But as for thisโ€ฆโ€ The man glared at Tanner. โ€œOnce weโ€™re out, weโ€™ll make sure to kill you.โ€

Tanner met his glare without flinching, replying calmly, โ€œYou wonโ€™t get that chance.โ€ Before the words even left his mouth, the police arrived. They saluted Benjamin respectfully before handcuffing the two men.

Once the officers had escorted them to the car, they turned to Tanner. โ€œMr. Tanner, could you please comeโ€ฆโ€

Tanner nodded at me and Benjamin, then turned to the officers, cooperatively saying, โ€œOf course, Iโ€™ll go over right away.โ€

Once everyone had left, Benjamin pulled me into his arms, gently checking to see if I was injured. His eyes were filled with concern as he comforted me, his hand gently patting my back. โ€œItโ€™s okay, youโ€™re safe now. Iโ€™m here.โ€ In his arms, Hera, much like me, relaxed entirely.

Ignoring Heraโ€™s disgruntled huff, I slowly pulled away from his embrace. โ€œDo you know, at that momentโ€ฆโ€ Before I could finish my sentence, Benjamin leaned in and kissed me, silencing all my words. The kiss lasted for a long moment, and when he finally pulled away, his voice was hoarse as he said, โ€œLetโ€™s not talk about it right now. Come back with me.โ€

I nodded, and Benjamin helped me to my feet, scanning me from head to toe to make sure I was alright. Satisfied, he lifted me in his arms and carried me out. We didnโ€™t speak as we made our way down the road.

I felt a little scared. If Hera hadnโ€™t woken up at the crucial moment, if Benjamin and the others hadnโ€™t arrived just in time, they would have succeeded. I still couldnโ€™t understand who would go to such extremes, plotting to kill me.

The car came to a stop in front of my apartment complex. Benjamin took my hand, guiding me as we entered the elevator together and headed upstairs. I opened the door and stepped aside to make room. โ€œCome in.โ€ Benjamin followed me inside.

Once I had calmed down, I turned to him and asked, โ€œHow did you know I was in trouble?โ€

Benjamin explained, โ€œWhen you didnโ€™t come back, I called you, but your phone was off. So, I asked Tanner.โ€ He quickly summarized what happened next.

After hearing his explanation, I hugged him tightly and said with sincere gratitude, โ€œThank you. If you hadnโ€™t shown up in timeโ€ฆ I canโ€™t even imagine the consequences.โ€

Benjamin gently stroked my face, a smile playing at his lips. โ€œSo, youโ€™re saying itโ€™s not safe for an Omega like you to stay out here on your own? Maybe you should consider moving back in with me.โ€
