Chapter 411: Investigation
Hayleyโs POV
โMs. Carson, is Alpha Benjamin here?โ Tyrone asked, holding a stack of documents as he looked at me.
I stepped aside and said, โCome in.โ
Tyrone walked in, his eyes widening in surprise when he saw Benjamin cleaning. After regaining his composure, Tyrone said to Benjamin respectfully, โAlpha, Iโve brought all the documents. Once youโve reviewed them, Iโll come by to collect them.โ
Benjamin replied calmly, โJust leave them there.โ
Tyrone quickly placed the documents on the coffee table, giving me a quick glance before stepping forward to help. โAlpha, let me take care of the heavy work.โ
Benjamin declined. โNo need, I can handle it. Just leave the documents there, and if thereโs nothing else, you can go back.โ
Tyrone nodded repeatedly. โUnderstood, Alpha.โ
He turned to leave but suddenly seemed to remember something. โBy the way, Alpha, about the matter you asked me to investigate last nightโฆโ
Tyrone paused, casting a wary glance at me. My instincts told me the matter had something to do with me, so I instinctively stepped back to give them some privacy.
โYou two can talk, Iโll go to my room.โ
But to my surprise, Benjamin called out to stop me. โNo need. Stay here. Tyrone can say whatever he needs to. From now on, thereโs no need to hide anything from Hayley. After all, sheโll soon be the Luna of our Midnight Pack.โ
Tyrone understoodโBenjamin fully trusted meโand so he spoke openly. โI found out what happened yesterday. It was Clarice who hired them.โ
โI also followed your instructions and gathered a lot of dirt on Clarice. However, when I contacted several media outlets, many of them hesitated to cover her scandals. It seems theyโre wary of the powerful figures backing her.โ
Hearing Clariceโs name, a surge of anger rose within me. I had never even met her, yet she was trying to have me killed.
โWho is the person backing her?โ I asked.
Tyrone hesitated for a moment, but eventually spoke a name. After hearing it, both Benjamin and I were taken aback.
Benjamin looked at Tyrone and commanded, โWithin a week, I donโt want to see this person in the entertainment industry again.โ His tone was calm but firm, the undeniable authority of an alpha radiating from him. There was no room for negotiation in his words.
Tyrone nodded respectfully. โUnderstood, Alpha. Iโll handle it properly.โ Then, he turned and left.
Once he was gone, I turned to Benjamin. โHonestly, if you hadnโt intervened, I wouldnโt have blamed you. After all, her background is pretty solid. If we go head-to-head with her, even if we hurt her, weโll suffer, too. So why risk it?โ
โI donโt care who it is, anyone who tries to harm you will pay double the price,โ he said, his gaze soft yet resolute. โYou donโt need to worry about this. Even if it means I have to suffer, I wonโt let her get away with it.โ
His words touched me deeply. I met his gaze and smiled softly. โThank you, Benjamin. But donโt worry, Iโm not as fragile as you think. I wonโt let anyone bully me easily.โ
Benjamin raised an eyebrow, clearly about to ask me something, but I quickly changed the subject. โYou take care of your work, Iโm going to take a nap. We can grab some food later.โ
He smiled warmly. โSure.โ
I went back to my bedroom and got down to business. I locked the door and opened the drawer of my nightstand. I took out the tablet and turned it on.
