Chapter 421: Do You Two Know Each Other?
Hayleyโs POV:
In a matter of seconds, Johnny had figured out the reason for my sudden shift in how I addressed him. His gaze turned icy as he glanced at Odessa, giving her a look that spoke volumes of his displeasure. Since I was young, Johnny had always treated me like a daughter, showering me with kindness and care. I knew him well enough to understand that if he learned Odessa had been unkind to me, he wouldnโt let it slide.
โHayley, my girl! What a surprise to see you here!โ Johnny said warmly, his voice full of affection as he smiled at me.
Odessa looked from Johnny to me, her face betraying her confusion. โMr. Estrada, do you two know each other?โ
Johnny didnโt hesitate, his irritation clear as he responded, โHayleyโs like family to me. Iโve seen her grow up.โ
At his words, Odessaโs face shifted to one of disbelief, as she struggled to process the idea that Iโan Omegaโhad such a close connection with someone as important as Johnny.
Johnny turned back to me, his pride evident. โHayz, I heard you aced your SATs. Thatโs impressive! Which college did you apply to?โ
I smiled at his compliment and replied, โNew College. I havenโt heard back yet, but Iโm expecting an acceptance letter soon.โ
โThatโs excellent! You didnโt even need my recommendation letter to get inโyour own abilities got you there. Iโm really proud of you!โ Johnny beamed at me, full of pride.
โI appreciate that. Iโll keep working hard,โ I replied.
โKeep it up, Hayz. I have high hopes for you!โ Johnny encouraged.
The exchange between Johnny and Hayley had drawn the attention of everyone nearby, and Odessa was left completely stunned. She hadnโt expected to see Hayley so comfortably interacting with someone like Johnny, and she certainly didnโt anticipate learning that Hayley knew him so well. The crowd, too, had been watching closely. When they saw Benjamin and Hayley dancing earlier, many of them had wondered who she really was. Now, watching Hayley so familiar with Johnny, it became clear: despite appearing to be just an Omega, Hayley had to come from a much more notable background.
At that moment, Vivian, under Braydenโs direction, made her way over. Vivian offered Johnny a polite smile. โMr. Estrada, itโs a pleasure to meet you.โ
Johnny gave her a raised eyebrow and a cool nod, his detached response a stark contrast to the warmth he had shown Hayley. Vivian, sensing the difference, felt a bit awkward, though she didnโt dare show it. She knew all too well that despite her familyโs control over the SK Pack, it wouldnโt do to upset Johnny.
She quickly recovered, attempting to smooth things over with a smile. โIโve heard so much about you, Mr. Johnny. Everyone says youโre a serious businessman, difficult to approach. But now that I see you in person, you seem much more approachable and kind.โ
Vivianโs words were perfectly crafted, and those who didnโt know better would think it was nicely put, but Johnny, used to such flattery, didnโt seem moved by it. However, he was slightly taken aback by how she addressed him.
โMs. Jagged, weโre not that close. Please, call me Mr. Estrada,โ Johnny said firmly, his tone leaving no room for debate.
Vivianโs smile faltered, and Odessaโs expression darkened as well. It seemed that the rumored close relationship between Johnny and Vivian wasnโt quite what it appeared to be. In fact, it was becoming clear that Hayley had a far stronger connection with Johnny.
How could Hayley, an Omega from a remote pack, possibly know someone like Johnny so well? What is really going on here? Odessa couldnโt help but wonder, her mind spinning with questions.
โMr. Estrada, youโre absolutely right! Vivian should show you the respect you deserveโperhaps she called you that because you donโt look much older than her,โ Brayden interjected quickly, trying to smooth things over. His words suggested an attempt to place Johnny and Vivian on more equal footing, revealing his intentions clearly.
Johnny had come here for one purpose: to see Hayley. If Hayley werenโt attending, he wouldnโt have bothered with the event at all. Now that his business was done, he had no interest in staying any longer.
โI have to go, Mr. Jagged,โ Johnny said as he stood. โIโve got other things to take care of.โ
โMr. Estrada, please, stay a little longer. If you need anything, Iโll handle it right awayโฆโ Brayden attempted to persuade him to stay.
Johnny wasnโt interested. He turned to me and said, โHayz, if you need anything, just come find me, alright?โ
