Chapter 424: Promised
Benjaminโs POV:
I pulled Hayley into a tender embrace, my voice soft as I spoke, โHe told me to take care of you.โ
โIs that all?โ Hayley raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.
โNo, thereโs more,โ I replied.
โWhat else?โ She leaned in, curious.
โHe also warned me not to hurt you. If I do, heโll make sure I regret it.โ
Hayleyโs face lit up with a big grin as she laughed. โHaha, now you get it! Iโve got a powerful ally on my side!โ
โYeah, I know,โ I said with a teasing smile, ruffling her hair. โThatโs why I promised to treat you even better.โ
She chuckled, shaking her head. โWell, weโre mates, so thatโs kind of your job, right?โ
โTrue,โ I agreed, my smile growing wider. โBut hearing it from Mr. Estrada made me even more certain about it.โ
Right then, I made up my mind. I was going to love Hayley and cherish her for as long as I lived. It wasnโt just because of Johnnyโs warning; it was because I already loved her. No matter who she wasโwhether my fated mate or just a low-ranking Omegaโit didnโt matter to me.
โLetโs head back. Itโs getting late,โ I said, taking her hand.
We made our way home, and I felt at ease. My wolf, Lawrence, was calm and content within me. In that moment, I no longer had doubts about Hayley being my fated mate. As long as she wasnโt hiding anything, my Luna would always be herโฆ
Hayleyโs POV:
As soon as I stepped into my room, my phone rang. It was Henry.
โBoss, we got a letter for you at home. When do you want me to bring it over?โ
โTomorrowโs fine,โ I replied.
โGot it, Boss. Oh, and I have some good news. I just got an email from the school. Looks like weโre both heading to collegeโbut not at the same one.โ
I could hear the excitement in his voice. โCongratulations! You got what you wanted!โ
โThanks, Boss! I wouldnโt be here without you.โ Henryโs voice was full of gratitude.
I smiled faintly. โItโs all your effort. I just gave you a little push.โ
After hanging up, I set my phone on the desk and walked over to the windows. The city sprawled beneath me, sparkling under the night sky. Time had flown by so quickly. It had been almost a year since I joined the Midnight Pack. A lot had changed in that time. And I had changed, tooโฆ
The next morning, I arrived at the design studio. As soon as I stepped into my office, Tanner walked in.
โHayley!โ he called out.
I looked up and met his gaze. โWhatโs going on? Is everything okay?โ
He smiled warmly. โYeah, but I wanted to apologize. The whole mess with Clarice started because of me, and I know it caused you some trouble.โ
Hearing his mention of Clarice didnโt stir much emotion in me. I responded calmly, โItโs all in the past. Donโt worry about it.โ
โGood. Actually, Iโve got something to tell you. While you were away, the Sandersโ butler came by. He specifically asked for you to design a wedding dress for them. Since you werenโt here, the deal fell through. But now that youโre back, would you be interested in talking to the client?โ
I was a little surprised. โHe asked for me personally?โ
Tanner nodded, a smile on his face. โLooks like your reputation is spreading. Thatโs a good sign.โ
โWhenโs he coming in?โ I asked.
โIโll call him and set it up. Weโll figure out the details.โ
After a moment of thought, I said, โOkay, just let me know when itโs confirmed.โ
Before long, Tanner returned to my office. โHayley, the client is in a rush. They want to meet with you this afternoon at the studio!โ
