Chapter 424: Promised

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

I pulled Hayley into a tender embrace, my voice soft as I spoke, โ€œHe told me to take care of you.โ€

โ€œIs that all?โ€ Hayley raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.

โ€œNo, thereโ€™s more,โ€ I replied.

โ€œWhat else?โ€ She leaned in, curious.

โ€œHe also warned me not to hurt you. If I do, heโ€™ll make sure I regret it.โ€

Hayleyโ€™s face lit up with a big grin as she laughed. โ€œHaha, now you get it! Iโ€™ve got a powerful ally on my side!โ€

โ€œYeah, I know,โ€ I said with a teasing smile, ruffling her hair. โ€œThatโ€™s why I promised to treat you even better.โ€

She chuckled, shaking her head. โ€œWell, weโ€™re mates, so thatโ€™s kind of your job, right?โ€

โ€œTrue,โ€ I agreed, my smile growing wider. โ€œBut hearing it from Mr. Estrada made me even more certain about it.โ€

Right then, I made up my mind. I was going to love Hayley and cherish her for as long as I lived. It wasnโ€™t just because of Johnnyโ€™s warning; it was because I already loved her. No matter who she wasโ€”whether my fated mate or just a low-ranking Omegaโ€”it didnโ€™t matter to me.

โ€œLetโ€™s head back. Itโ€™s getting late,โ€ I said, taking her hand.

We made our way home, and I felt at ease. My wolf, Lawrence, was calm and content within me. In that moment, I no longer had doubts about Hayley being my fated mate. As long as she wasnโ€™t hiding anything, my Luna would always be herโ€ฆ

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

As soon as I stepped into my room, my phone rang. It was Henry.

โ€œBoss, we got a letter for you at home. When do you want me to bring it over?โ€

โ€œTomorrowโ€™s fine,โ€ I replied.

โ€œGot it, Boss. Oh, and I have some good news. I just got an email from the school. Looks like weโ€™re both heading to collegeโ€”but not at the same one.โ€

I could hear the excitement in his voice. โ€œCongratulations! You got what you wanted!โ€

โ€œThanks, Boss! I wouldnโ€™t be here without you.โ€ Henryโ€™s voice was full of gratitude.

I smiled faintly. โ€œItโ€™s all your effort. I just gave you a little push.โ€

After hanging up, I set my phone on the desk and walked over to the windows. The city sprawled beneath me, sparkling under the night sky. Time had flown by so quickly. It had been almost a year since I joined the Midnight Pack. A lot had changed in that time. And I had changed, tooโ€ฆ

The next morning, I arrived at the design studio. As soon as I stepped into my office, Tanner walked in.

โ€œHayley!โ€ he called out.

I looked up and met his gaze. โ€œWhatโ€™s going on? Is everything okay?โ€

He smiled warmly. โ€œYeah, but I wanted to apologize. The whole mess with Clarice started because of me, and I know it caused you some trouble.โ€

Hearing his mention of Clarice didnโ€™t stir much emotion in me. I responded calmly, โ€œItโ€™s all in the past. Donโ€™t worry about it.โ€

โ€œGood. Actually, Iโ€™ve got something to tell you. While you were away, the Sandersโ€™ butler came by. He specifically asked for you to design a wedding dress for them. Since you werenโ€™t here, the deal fell through. But now that youโ€™re back, would you be interested in talking to the client?โ€

I was a little surprised. โ€œHe asked for me personally?โ€

Tanner nodded, a smile on his face. โ€œLooks like your reputation is spreading. Thatโ€™s a good sign.โ€

โ€œWhenโ€™s he coming in?โ€ I asked.

โ€œIโ€™ll call him and set it up. Weโ€™ll figure out the details.โ€

After a moment of thought, I said, โ€œOkay, just let me know when itโ€™s confirmed.โ€

Before long, Tanner returned to my office. โ€œHayley, the client is in a rush. They want to meet with you this afternoon at the studio!โ€
