Chapter 456: Call Her Out

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

She looked at me, clearly puzzled, and said, โ€œKirsty mentioned that you werenโ€™t feeling well and left rehearsal early.โ€ The mention of her name made me glance at Kirsty, my eyes narrowing as I studied her closely. Kirsty quickly avoided my gaze, her uneasiness apparent as she stammered, โ€œI noticed you hadnโ€™t come back to rehearsal, so I just assumed you went to rest because you werenโ€™t feeling wellโ€ฆโ€

I let out a long, drawn-out, โ€œI see,โ€ then moved a step closer, leaning in just enough to whisper in her ear, โ€œAre you sure thereโ€™s nothing more to the story? Or should I ask, are you sure you didnโ€™t do anything else?โ€

Kirsty jerked away from me, panic flashing across her face. She looked around frantically before mumbling, โ€œI donโ€™t know what you mean. Class is about to startโ€ฆโ€ With that, she turned quickly and rushed back to her seat.

I didnโ€™t call her out on it, but I already had a clear understanding of what had happened. Professor Cain entered the classroom, a warm smile on his face. As soon as he spotted me, he walked over. โ€œSo, have you figured out the problem I gave you last time?โ€

I replied, โ€œIโ€™ve solved it, but I need to double-check my work first. Iโ€™ll go over it again and bring it to you.โ€ Before I could say more, I noticed Professor Cainโ€™s expression shift to one of shock. โ€œYouโ€™ve already solved it?โ€ he exclaimed. His voice was much louder than expected, and several of my classmates turned to look at us.

Realizing he had raised his voice, Professor Cain quickly lowered it, his tone becoming more urgent. โ€œShow me what you have. What did you get?โ€

I was a little surprised by his reaction, but I answered, โ€œI got two resultsโ€”one is half the square root of three, and the other is one.โ€ When I finished speaking, Professor Cain seemed even more shaken, his hands trembling as he urged, โ€œQuick, let me see it!โ€

I handed him the papers with my calculations. He rushed to the front of the room, hurriedly wrapping up the lesson before leaving with the papers in hand. My classmates exchanged confused glances, unsure of what had just happened.

Loretta walked over and asked, โ€œHayley, whatโ€™s going on with Professor Cain?โ€

I shrugged. โ€œIโ€™m not sure!โ€

Loretta chuckled and started gathering her things. โ€œWell, if Professor Cain isnโ€™t going to teach, I might as well head to my party. Are you off to the library again, Hayley?โ€

With that, I stood up and headed toward Kirsty. โ€œKirsty, I need to talk to you. Come with me.โ€

Kirstyโ€™s face tightened with nervousness as she stared at me. โ€œWhat do you need to talk about? You can just say it here.โ€

I leaned in closer, letting my Alpha presence radiate as I locked eyes with her. โ€œAre you sure you want me to say it here?โ€

Kirsty froze, visibly intimidated by my gaze. After a tense silence, she finally muttered, โ€œFine, Iโ€™ll go with you.โ€

She followed me out of the classroom, and I stopped at the end of the hallway. Turning to face her, I asked directly, โ€œYou were the one who locked me in the bathroom yesterday, werenโ€™t you?โ€

As soon as the words left my mouth, Kirstyโ€™s face drained of color.
