Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 480: Interested in My Fiancรฉ
Hayleyโs POV:
I ignored her comment entirely and smirked. โYou seem quite interested in my fiancรฉ, donโt you?โ
Kirsty froze, stammering in a panic as her intentions to seduce Benjamin were called out. โWโwho told you that? I didnโt!โ
Then, as if trying to save face, she puffed up and shot back, โSo what if I am? You two arenโt married yet. He has every right to choose who he wants to be with!โ
I scoffed. Honestly, it was baffling that our school had someone with such messed-up values. I had been kind enough to help her earlier, but not only did she fail to thank me, but she now dared to go after my fiancรฉ. In hindsight, I shouldnโt have let my pity for her at the bar cloud my judgment.
Fixing her with a cold glare, I warned her, โYou might not know this about me, but Iโm a bit of a clean freak, and my possessiveness is pretty strong. I canโt stand anyone coveting whatโs mineโwhether itโs a person or a thing. If someone crosses that line, I wouldnโt hesitate to make sure everyone at school hears about everything that happened tonight.โ
From the bar to the hotel, Kirstyโs actions were more than enough to shatter her pristine reputation among her admirers.
โYou wouldnโt dare!โ Kirsty shrieked, pounding her fists on the bed in frustration. โYou think anyone would believe you? This is slanderโdefamation!โ
โOh,โ I replied indifferently, shrugging my shoulders as I turned to leave.
While walking away, I called over my shoulder, โThen go ahead, sue me. Letโs see who wins firstโme tearing your life apart or you putting me behind bars.โ
With that, I strode out of the hotel. From a distance, I spotted Benjamin waiting beside the car, looking unusually tense.
When he saw me, he motioned for me to come over quickly. I jogged to his side and teased, โSo, how does it feel to be the object of a beautyโs affection?โ
Benjamin didnโt react, standing rigidly with a grim expression. He still held the door open for me, ever the gentleman, but his face was clouded with irritation.
I paused, taking a closer look at him. His furrowed brows made it clear he was upset.
Alright, I admit it. Teasing him probably wasnโt the smartest moveโespecially since Benjamin is the epitome of a gentleman. Judging the situation as if itโs all about who got the upper hand is pretty unfair to him.
Softening my expression, I adjusted my tone to sound more sincere. โIโm sorry. I shouldnโt have said that.โ
But instead of accepting my apology, Benjamin withdrew his hand from the car door and lifted his chin, his posture radiating indignation.
I couldnโt help but chuckle at his stubbornness. This man was holding a grudge over such a smallโฆ
As I stared at his handsome face, my annoyance melted into guilt. At the end of the day, it was my fault for approaching Kirsty in the first place. If I hadnโt, Benjamin wouldnโt have ended up in this ridiculous mess.
After barely a minute of our silent standoff on the roadside, I sighed and walked up to him. I stood on my tiptoes, looped my arms around his neck, and planted a soft kiss on the corner of his mouth.
โStill mad at me?โ I murmured.
Benjaminโs frosty demeanor began to thaw as his gaze locked onto mine, heat simmering behind his eyes.
Just as I was about to step back, his arm snaked around my waist, pulling me close.
โNot enough,โ he murmured in a deep, husky voice before capturing my lips in a kiss that left no room for argument.
