Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 500: Would You Leave With Me?

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

Heraโ€™s intense disdain for Irving kept me on edge. I knew his fragile and sorrowful demeanor was likely just an act. I glanced discreetly toward the restaurantโ€™s entranceโ€”Benjamin wasnโ€™t here yet. If I let Irving leave now, it would be nearly impossible to catch him later. As a rogue wolf, he would be beyond the control of any pack.

I stayed silent, sat back down, and pulled out my phone to text Benjamin, asking where he was. Suddenly, Irvingโ€™s crimson wolf eyes gleamed dangerously. He stared at me and asked, โ€œHayley, Iโ€™ll ask you one last timeโ€”would you leave with me?โ€

His question made me impatient, and I snapped, โ€œYou still donโ€™t get it, do you? Iโ€™ll only ever be with my destined mate. Iโ€™ve only ever seen you as a friend from the beginning. If youโ€™re willing to admit your mistakes, I can stay friends with you. But just friends. Nothing more.โ€

My words made Irving clench his jaw tightly. The veins on his forehead bulged with frustration as if he wanted to tear me apart. After a long silence, he finally regained his composure. โ€œFine. I wonโ€™t push you anymore. Just drink the coffee. Once you finish this cup, who knows when weโ€™ll have another chance like this?โ€

Without thinking, I lifted the cup to my lips. โ€œDonโ€™t drink it!โ€ Heraโ€™s warning voice suddenly rang in my mind. I instantly pulled the cup away and glared at Irving suspiciously. โ€œDid you tamper with this?โ€

Irving let out an eerie smile, then lunged forward, trying to force the coffee into my mouth. I clamped my lips shut, ready to reveal my identity as an Alpha and let Hera take over. Just then, I remembered something. With one hand wrestling against Irving, I quickly rummaged through my bag with the other. A moment later, my fingers wrapped around the cool, sharp surface of a tranquilizer dart. Without hesitation, I pulled it out and jabbed it straight into Irvingโ€™s thigh.

โ€œAh!โ€ Irving howled in pain and released me. His eyes burned with fury as he glared at me, his sharp wolf teeth bared. Hiding the dart behind my back, I stood ready to defend myself.

I knew this meeting wouldnโ€™t go smoothly. Thankfully, Iโ€™d kept the tranquilizer dart on meโ€”it turned out to be a lifesaver. I didnโ€™t need to reveal Heraโ€™s presence or my Alpha status. What I hadnโ€™t anticipated, however, was that Irving would roar in anger, resisting the effects of the tranquilizer. Suddenly, he transformed into his wolf form and lunged at me!

At that critical moment, I was about to let Hera take control of my body when the restaurant door burst open with a loud bang. Benjamin stood in the doorway, radiating the overwhelming presence of an Alpha. โ€œIrving! Stand down!โ€ He bellowed, his voice echoing through the room as he rushed toward us.

Irving looked from Benjamin to me, then back to Benjamin. In the end, he released me and fled. โ€œAre you okay?โ€ Benjamin didnโ€™t bother chasing after Irving. His full attention was on me.

โ€œIโ€™m fine,โ€ I assured him, shaking my head. I tossed the tranquilizer dart onto the table and grabbed a napkin to wipe off the coffee that had spilled on me. โ€œItโ€™s just a little coffee. Nothing serious.โ€

Benjamin breathed a sigh of relief. Picking up the slender dart, he asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s this?โ€

โ€œMy secret weapon,โ€ I explained. โ€œI made the tranquilizer myself, but itโ€™s not strong enough. If you hadnโ€™t arrived when you did, I mightโ€™ve been in trouble. I guess Iโ€™ll need to refine it further.โ€

Benjaminโ€™s expression grew serious. โ€œFrom now on, no more acting alone.โ€

โ€œI just wanted to help,โ€ I said earnestly. โ€œIrvingโ€™s thinking is extreme, and I was worried he might come after you.โ€

Benjamin frowned, his voice laced with exasperation. โ€œYouโ€™re worried about him hurting me, an Alpha, but as an Omega, youโ€™re not afraid heโ€™d hurt you even more easily?โ€

โ€œYou know him better than I do since heโ€™s your brother. But Iโ€™m pretty smart too. See? I didnโ€™t drink a single sip of that coffee. I spilled it all.โ€ I tried to sound lighthearted.

Benjamin stared at me for a few seconds before suddenly pulling me into a hug. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€ I asked, feeling like I was comforting an oversized, clingy dog.
