Chapter 52: Time to Teach You a Lesson
Hayleyโs POV:
โWhatโs written here? Why donโt you share it with us?โ Rachel, a low-ranked Beta, acted as if my anger didnโt matter. She taunted me, thinking I was beneath her.
I fought the urge to let Hera tear her apart and grabbed the file from her hands. I glared at her. โDid you go through my stuff?โ
Rachel turned away, feigning innocence. โOh, Hayley, donโt accuse me! I saw the file on the floor and picked it up to be nice. You just grabbed it from me without even a thank you. How rude!โ
I stepped closer and warned, โYou better hope you didnโt go through it, or youโll regret it!โ
โAre you serious?โ scoffed the girl beside her. โYou, an Omega, walk around like youโre some guest of honor invited by the Midnight Pack. And now youโre threatening a Beta like Rachel?โ She laughed loudly, mocking me.
Rachel smirked and said provocatively, โGo ahead and teach me a lesson, Omega.โ
I shot them a cold look, collected my files, packed my bag, and left without another word.
Downstairs, I immediately made a call. โThomas, bring me my laptop. Now!โ
โAlpha, who upset you? Iโll be there right away.โ Thomas replied respectfully, sensing the anger in my voice.
โYou have fifteen minutes. No delays.โ I hung up and then checked the documents carefully. Fortunately, none were missing. Considering the complicated content, they probably hadnโt had time to figure it out or use any tools to translate, which relieved me.
Still, I was furious. If Rachel truly went through my bag, she was going to pay for it.
Ten minutes later, Thomas arrived, having shifted into his wolf form to get there faster. โAlpha, hereโs your laptop.โ
I quickly took it, opened it up, and began typing. It didnโt take long before I accessed the hallway camera feed. In only five minutes, I confirmed the culpritโRachel.
โIs this the one who crossed you?โ Thomas asked cautiously. I nodded, and he responded respectfully, โIโll handle it.โ
โGo ahead.โ
My Beta, Thomas, was efficient. The next day, he reported back. โRachelโs family company is in freefall. Their stock has plummeted. You may rest assured. Within three days, the Softsonsโ business will be finished. Rachelโs also been demoted to Omega rank due to unforeseenโฆโ
He added, โSheโs been crying at home all day.โ
I nodded, most of my anger fading.
After teaching Rachel her lesson, I finally focused on translating the document Paul had given me. In no time, I finished translating and handed it over to Paul. โHereโs the document you requested.โ
He looked impressed. โOnly two days? Youโre a genius!โ
โI wanted to avoid any delays that might cause issues,โ I explained. โBut I should tell you, someone else briefly saw the document. It was a student, so she likely didnโt understand it. But just in case, Iโll deduct half of the payment you offered as compensation.โ
Paul smiled, not bothered. โDonโt worry about it. I trust you completely. As long as youโre involved, I know the document is safe. Weโve known each other for years. Now that youโre an Alpha, you can handle anything that comes your way.โ
His confidence in me was touching. I made a promise. The contents wonโt leak. If anything goes wrong, Iโll take full responsibility.
โYour word is enough,โ Paul replied, making a quick call. Within minutes, I received a notification for the transfer.
After leaving his house, I headed to the bank and sent a portion of the money to a charity.
Just as I was about to head home, I felt Hera stir with excitement, wanting to pull me across the street. When I looked up, I saw a familiar car parked nearby. Benjamin was inside, talking on the phone.
It was him, as I suspected. I tried to act like I didnโt notice and started to walk away, but he quickly pulled his car up in front of me and called out, โHayley!โ
