Chapter 521: Remarkable Healing Ability
Hayleyโs POV:
There was only one option left. I had to break through the bedroom door. The moment the thought struck me, I didnโt hesitate. I clenched my fist and swung it hard against the glass pane of the cabinet beside me. The sound of shattering glass exploded in the room. Crimson streaks smeared the broken surface. My hand was a mangled mess, blood dripping, with glass fragments stuck to my skin.
I didnโt know if there were cameras in the room. Gritting my teeth against the pain, I rammed myself against the wall while picking up anything that could generate noise and crashing it to the floor. Thankfully, as a high-ranking werewolf, my bodyโs healing ability was remarkable. The smaller wounds on my arms were already knitting themselves back together. Seeing this, I pushed aside my hesitation and went all out, creating as much chaos as I could to get Lisaโs attention.
Lisaโs POV:
The commotion from Hayleyโs holding room grated on my nerves. That wretched woman only knew how to make trouble! Sheโs nothing but a wild and uncontrollable Omega. Yet, the Alpha of the Midnight Pack, Benjamin, claimed her as his mate. As if that werenโt enough, even Irving loved her!
I sacrificed everything for Irving. I fled for him, risked my life for him, and struck bargains with witches for him. However, no matter what I did, he still only had eyes for Hayley. If Hayley were gone, would Irving finally see me? Would he finally love me? If that happened, I would be the closest person to Irving!
My decision was instant. I grabbed a fruit knife from the living room and slid it into my sleeve. Then, I strode to her room and unlocked the door. I would end Hayleyโs life tonight and make her disappear forever. So she couldnโt take him from me anymore!
Hayleyโs POV:
I was about to create another loud noise by the door when Lisa suddenly opened it. In that brief moment when our eyes met, Hera, my wolf spirit, surged forward in warning. Danger. This woman was dangerous. My instincts instantly sharpened.
Lisaโs calculating eyes locked onto mine for two full seconds. Her gaze swept downward, landing on my injured hand before she spoke with an emotionless voice. โWhy are you so reckless?โ
My hand wasnโt fully healed yet. I replied evenly, โYeah, youโre right. I didnโt even feel the pain until you mentioned it.โ
Lisa threw me a cold glance before moving aside, clearing a path to the door. โCome out and get that treated. If something happens to you, Irving will blame me for it.โ A brief flash of malice broke through her detached facade before she regained her composure. I caught it, sharp as a dagger hidden in her words. My senses went on high alert. I glanced past her, locking my focus on the main door facing the room. My grandparents and Benjamin must be waiting for me out there. I had to use this opportunity to escape.
Under Lisaโs watchful eyes, I cradled my injured hand and started walking toward the door. As I passed by her, my steps slowed instinctively.
Lisaโs POV:
I watched as Hayley walked past me until she turned her back on me entirely. This was my moment. My fingers tightened around the hilt of the knife hidden in my sleeve. Slowly, I raised it above my head. It had to be now. If I stabbed her here, even if Irving returned, I could claim sheโd tried to escape. Iโd say I tried to stop her and was forced to use the knife. In the end, I accidentally killed her. In this way, there would be no Hayley in this world, and Irving wouldnโt blame me for her death.
The thought made my grip firm. I raised the knife higher and brought it down in a sharp, swift arc, aimed directly at Hayleyโs body.
Hayleyโs POV:
I thanked the heavens for Heraโs warning. The moment Lisa made her move, I felt it. The deadly intent radiating off her was unmistakable. Using my superior physical fitness and Alpha instincts, I rapidly whirled around and kicked the knife out of her grasp.
Lisa stumbled back, falling to the floor. Scrambling, she snatched the knife again, glaring at me fiercely. โWhy are you trying to kill me?โ I demanded. My voice sharp and unyielding.
Lisa bared her teeth; her face contorted with madness so raw it was almost feral. She snarled, โBecause you donโt deserve Irving! Youโve ruined him, and the only way to make things right is to pay with your life!โ After finishing her words, she lunged at me again, the blade aimed directly at my heart, her desperation fueling her reckless attack.
