Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 527: I Promise
Hayleyโs POV:
It hit me suddenly how much Benjamin cared about certain things. I had already caused a few arguments by deliberately downplaying my appearance and hiding Harmonyโs identity from him. I didnโt want to keep things from him, but revealing my Alpha status wasnโt an option just yet. If I told him I was an Alpha, those enemies lurking in the shadows would immediately target him.
For now, I had no choice but to calm him down. I gave Benjamin a warm look. โOkay, Iโm sorry. I shouldnโt have made that joke. I promise I wonโt hide anything from you in the future, especially anything important.โ
Benjamin responded firmly, โNot even the little things.โ
I smiled even more sweetly. โI understand. Iโll listen to you.โ
Finally, Benjamin seemed satisfied and started the car, driving us toward home. Bill and Dorothy had been waiting anxiously at home for Benjamin and Hayleyโs arrival. When the Beta guards at the gate informed them that Benjaminโs car had arrived, they couldnโt wait any longer. The two elders shifted into wolves and raced toward the entrance.
Hayleyโs POV:
โHayley, my dear granddaughterโฆโ Grandma rushed to me as I stepped out of the car, her arms wrapping around me tightly. She noticed the injury on my right hand, her face filled with concern as she began to cry. โYour injury is so bad! Even with your healing ability, itโs still such a visible wound!โ
I quickly glanced at Benjamin, relieved that he didnโt seem to catch her words. I whispered to Grandma, โBenjamin doesnโt know Iโm an Alpha. My injury is healing slowly because Hera is still in the energy recovery period. Itโs just minor wounds.โ
Grandma understood immediately and didnโt press further. Grandpa, holding his cane, looked worried but said nothing. I walked over to him, giving him a warm hug, and he softened. โAs long as youโre safe, thatโs all that matters. Letโs head inside.โ
Benjamin greeted my grandparents, and we all went into the house together. Not long after we sat down, his phone rang. โExcuse me, I need to take this call,โ he said politely. Grandpa nodded without looking up. โGo ahead.โ
Benjamin stepped out onto the balcony to take the call, and Grandma brought up the topic of me being kidnapped by Irving. โI hope Irving didnโt harm you. That lunatic!โ
I shook my head. โDonโt worry, Grandma. Iโm fine.โ
โHeโs lost his wolf. How could he have tied you up even if youโre still pretending to be an Omega?โ Grandma asked me in confusion.
I explained how Irving had teamed up with the witch, and Grandmaโs face twisted in disgust. โThatโs so shameful!โ she muttered. โDonโt worry. I wonโt let the one who hurt me get away with it,โ I promised, holding her hand tightly.
Soon, Benjamin returned from his call and informed us that he had to leave. โThere are some urgent matters at work I need to handle. Iโll leave Hayley in your care for now.โ
Grandpaโs tone wasnโt good. โItโs nothing serious. Hayley is my granddaughter. I can take care of her well. You donโt need to come back unless itโs important.โ
Both Grandma and I exchanged a glance, surprised by Grandpaโs tone. โWhat are you talking about?โ Grandma scolded.
I felt confused too. Grandpa had always been gentle and kind. What was going on today? Benjamin, however, didnโt react angrily. He controlled his Alpha presence perfectly around us. He simply smiled and said, โItโs okay. Iโm the one who misspoke.โ Then, turning to me, he added, โIโll take a private jet to see you once I finish my work.โ
โOkay,โ I responded, offering him a reassuring smile. He smiled back and left.
As soon as Benjamin was gone, Grandma began scolding Grandpa, โWhatโs wrong with you? He saved our precious granddaughter, and youโre acting like you want to push him away!โ
โYou donโt understand.โ Grandpa frowned, clearly annoyed, but seemed hesitant to speak. โForget it,โ he said with a deep sigh. โHeโs not suitable for Hayley. Itโs better to end things now than drag itโฆโ
He let out another sigh, but his eyes kept drifting toward me as if he was measuring something. I immediately sensed they were hiding something from me. โGrandpa, did something happen while I was away?โ I asked seriously.
