Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 527: I Promise

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

It hit me suddenly how much Benjamin cared about certain things. I had already caused a few arguments by deliberately downplaying my appearance and hiding Harmonyโ€™s identity from him. I didnโ€™t want to keep things from him, but revealing my Alpha status wasnโ€™t an option just yet. If I told him I was an Alpha, those enemies lurking in the shadows would immediately target him.

For now, I had no choice but to calm him down. I gave Benjamin a warm look. โ€œOkay, Iโ€™m sorry. I shouldnโ€™t have made that joke. I promise I wonโ€™t hide anything from you in the future, especially anything important.โ€

Benjamin responded firmly, โ€œNot even the little things.โ€

I smiled even more sweetly. โ€œI understand. Iโ€™ll listen to you.โ€

Finally, Benjamin seemed satisfied and started the car, driving us toward home. Bill and Dorothy had been waiting anxiously at home for Benjamin and Hayleyโ€™s arrival. When the Beta guards at the gate informed them that Benjaminโ€™s car had arrived, they couldnโ€™t wait any longer. The two elders shifted into wolves and raced toward the entrance.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œHayley, my dear granddaughterโ€ฆโ€ Grandma rushed to me as I stepped out of the car, her arms wrapping around me tightly. She noticed the injury on my right hand, her face filled with concern as she began to cry. โ€œYour injury is so bad! Even with your healing ability, itโ€™s still such a visible wound!โ€

I quickly glanced at Benjamin, relieved that he didnโ€™t seem to catch her words. I whispered to Grandma, โ€œBenjamin doesnโ€™t know Iโ€™m an Alpha. My injury is healing slowly because Hera is still in the energy recovery period. Itโ€™s just minor wounds.โ€

Grandma understood immediately and didnโ€™t press further. Grandpa, holding his cane, looked worried but said nothing. I walked over to him, giving him a warm hug, and he softened. โ€œAs long as youโ€™re safe, thatโ€™s all that matters. Letโ€™s head inside.โ€

Benjamin greeted my grandparents, and we all went into the house together. Not long after we sat down, his phone rang. โ€œExcuse me, I need to take this call,โ€ he said politely. Grandpa nodded without looking up. โ€œGo ahead.โ€

Benjamin stepped out onto the balcony to take the call, and Grandma brought up the topic of me being kidnapped by Irving. โ€œI hope Irving didnโ€™t harm you. That lunatic!โ€

I shook my head. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Grandma. Iโ€™m fine.โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s lost his wolf. How could he have tied you up even if youโ€™re still pretending to be an Omega?โ€ Grandma asked me in confusion.

I explained how Irving had teamed up with the witch, and Grandmaโ€™s face twisted in disgust. โ€œThatโ€™s so shameful!โ€ she muttered. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. I wonโ€™t let the one who hurt me get away with it,โ€ I promised, holding her hand tightly.

Soon, Benjamin returned from his call and informed us that he had to leave. โ€œThere are some urgent matters at work I need to handle. Iโ€™ll leave Hayley in your care for now.โ€

Grandpaโ€™s tone wasnโ€™t good. โ€œItโ€™s nothing serious. Hayley is my granddaughter. I can take care of her well. You donโ€™t need to come back unless itโ€™s important.โ€

Both Grandma and I exchanged a glance, surprised by Grandpaโ€™s tone. โ€œWhat are you talking about?โ€ Grandma scolded.

I felt confused too. Grandpa had always been gentle and kind. What was going on today? Benjamin, however, didnโ€™t react angrily. He controlled his Alpha presence perfectly around us. He simply smiled and said, โ€œItโ€™s okay. Iโ€™m the one who misspoke.โ€ Then, turning to me, he added, โ€œIโ€™ll take a private jet to see you once I finish my work.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ I responded, offering him a reassuring smile. He smiled back and left.

As soon as Benjamin was gone, Grandma began scolding Grandpa, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with you? He saved our precious granddaughter, and youโ€™re acting like you want to push him away!โ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t understand.โ€ Grandpa frowned, clearly annoyed, but seemed hesitant to speak. โ€œForget it,โ€ he said with a deep sigh. โ€œHeโ€™s not suitable for Hayley. Itโ€™s better to end things now than drag itโ€ฆโ€

He let out another sigh, but his eyes kept drifting toward me as if he was measuring something. I immediately sensed they were hiding something from me. โ€œGrandpa, did something happen while I was away?โ€ I asked seriously.
