Chapter 531: My Luna Will Always Be You
Hayleyโs POV
He marked me unilaterally! That meant he had chosen me as his mate for life. Betraying me would result in severe punishment from the Moon Goddess. I was stunned that he would go to such lengths for me. A rush of energy coursed through me, leaving me flushed and utterly speechless. Benjamin leaned in and kissed me again. We only pulled away when our breaths grew heavy and lingering.
With a soft smile, he assured me, โYouโre my one and only. My Luna will always be you.โ Overwhelmed with emotion, I threw my arms around him, resting my head against his chest. โThank you for everything, Benjamin,โ I murmured with heartfelt gratitude. He didnโt respond with words. Instead, we stood quietly in each otherโs embrace under the streetlight.
The next morning, I woke up early, put on casual clothes, and spent hours traveling back to college. As soon as I reached the dormitory, Kirsty stopped me in my tracks. โHayley, why are you back so soon?โ I glanced at her and said dismissively, โThatโs none of your business.โ Hera picked up Kirstyโs scent and bristled with irritation. I avoided interacting with Kirsty whenever possible. Getting involved with her always felt like stepping into a trap I couldnโt escape.
Glancing around cautiously, Kirsty leaned closer and said in a hushed tone, โHayley, Iโm pregnant. The baby belongs to Daniel.โ I was speechless for a moment. It had nothing to do with me, so why was she telling me? โOh, congratulations,โ I said, keeping my tone casual. I had no interest in continuing the conversation, so I turned to leave after speaking.
โHayley, can you help me?โ Kirsty asked, her face twisted in a look of exaggerated distress. After all the times she had tried to sabotage me and spread lies, now she was asking for my help. What did she even want from me? Whatever it was, I wasnโt interested. I made my stance clear. With a firm expression, I tried to push past her and walk away, but she clung tightly to my arm. โLet go of me!โ I snapped, my patience wearing thin. But Kirsty refused to release me. Instead, she kept clinging.
Suddenly, she lost her balance and fell backward, hitting the ground. โMy stomach! It hurts! Please, help me!โ she cried out in panic, clutching her abdomen.
When Benjamin called, I was sitting outside the emergency room. His calm, familiar voice greeted me, โIโm outside your dorm. Letโs grab some lunch.โ โIโm at the hospital,โ I replied shortly. Concern filled his tone. โWhat happened? Which hospital are you at?โ โThe one near college. Youโโ Before I could finish, Benjamin had already hung up.
Meanwhile, the light above the emergency room door flickered off, and a doctor emerged. โIs anyone here with the patient? We need someone to handle the admission procedures.โ I wasnโt fond of Kirsty, but I couldnโt ignore the unborn child. So, I stepped up to arrange her admission and planned to leave as soon as that was done.
As I reached the hospitalโs entrance, I ran straight into Benjamin. โPerfect timing,โ I started to say, but he cut me off, wrapping me in a tight embrace. โIโm just glad youโre fine,โ he said, exhaling deeply as if in relief. It dawned on me that he might have thought I was the one injured. I gently patted his back and reassured him, โIโm fine.โ Only then did he release me, taking a moment to look me over and confirm I wasnโt hurt.
Satisfied, he smiled warmly. โLetโs go. Tyrone can handle the rest here. Iโll take you to get something to eat.โ โAlright,โ I agreed without hesitation. We arrived at the restaurant. After the chaos of the morning, I focused on eating. The hunger made me forget about everything else. Benjamin poured me a glass of warm water and teased, โRelax, Iโm not going to steal your food.โ Embarrassed by how eagerly I had been eating, I slowed down. Benjamin gave me a warm, affectionate smile.
Just as he seemed about to speak, his phone buzzed. โSorry, I need to take this,โ he said, stepping aside. โGo ahead,โ I replied, secretly relieved. Finally, I could focus on eating without worrying about appearances.
Not long after, the waiter arrived with dessert. I took a bite, and the sweetness filled my mouth, instantly lifting my spirits. While the appetizers and main course had been average, the dessert was truly exceptional. As I reached for another spoonful, a deep voice sounded from nearby, โHave the chef prepare two more of these special desserts and bring them to this room.โ
