Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 567: House Full of Barbarians
Hayleyโs POV:
Virginia showed no fear and continued, โPerhaps I donโt have the right, but at least I understand one thing: that being kind is mutual. Before you want others to provide for you, look at what youโve done to them instead of trying to control othersโ lives just because you think youโre superior to them. The way you see others is a reflection of yourself. You accused Hayley of scheming against the Southwells. Then what about you, Mrs. Southwell? Was your family more powerful before you married into the Southwells?โ
โYouโฆโ Odessaโs expression changed as her true colors were exposed, leaving her speechless. โBarbaric! This whole house is full of barbarians! The truth will speak for itself; I wonโt waste my breath on you!โ
โEnough!โ I held Grandma close, suppressing the urge to let Hera out and tear Odessa apart. โBenjamin, youโd better take your mother away right now, or I canโt guarantee what will happen to her!โ
My grandparents were my unbreakable line. I wouldnโt allow anyone to cause them harm, no matter who they were. Benjamin was taken aback by my words. He frowned but didnโt say anything. However, Hera, my inner wolf, seemed to sense the sorrow from his wolf, Lawrence. But right now, because of his mother, I couldnโt help feeling resentful of him, even though Hera felt sad about my cold attitude towards him.
Fortunately, he seemed to understand my feelings. He grabbed Odessaโs wrist and dragged her away.
Odessaโs POV:
Our car was parked at the end of the alley. Benjamin shoved me into the car and slammed the door closed. โTake her home,โ he commanded the driver before turning back and running towards the Carsons. I didnโt have a chance to call out to him, as a wave of loneliness washed over me. After a brief sigh, I took out my phone and called Tina.
โIโm afraid I canโt help you with the favor you asked.โ
โMrs. Southwell, what were you trying to say? Are you telling me that you canโt handle such a simple matter? Or are you just making excuses to brush me off?โ Tina said sarcastically.
โWatch your tone.โ
I had nearly severed my relationship with Benjamin over helping her, and yet sheโs mocking me? I was furious instantly. โI had a big fight with my own son because of you, and now youโre doubting me? If I were making excuses, I wouldnโt have agreed to this mess in the first place!โ
โI had no interest in your familyโs drama. Let me make it clear: whoever dares to touch my son, I will make sure they pay for it, even if I have to put my life at stake. Youโd better think carefully before you act, Mrs. Southwell.โ
โHeyโโ Tina hung up on me before I could finish my sentence. I was so annoyed that I threw my phone aside. If I had known, I wouldnโt have helped her!
Benjaminโs POV:
When I rushed back to the Carsons, Dorothyโs condition had worsened. When I left, she could barely open her eyes. But now, her breath was shallow. Her life was slipping awayโsecond by second. Hayley held Dorothy still, like a child clutching onto her beloved toy, terrified of losing it. My chest felt like it was being twisted, causing me to gasp for air. Even Lawrence could feel her sorrow, making him restless.
Just then, my phone rang.
โHello, is this the Carsons who called for an ambulance? We are stuck at the intersection nearby due to a traffic accident and we are unable to get through. Can you find a way to move the patient out?โ
โI understand.โ I hung up and got ready to carry Dorothy out.
โDonโt touch her!โ Hayley suddenly stopped me from carrying her grandma.
