Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 567: House Full of Barbarians

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

Virginia showed no fear and continued, โ€œPerhaps I donโ€™t have the right, but at least I understand one thing: that being kind is mutual. Before you want others to provide for you, look at what youโ€™ve done to them instead of trying to control othersโ€™ lives just because you think youโ€™re superior to them. The way you see others is a reflection of yourself. You accused Hayley of scheming against the Southwells. Then what about you, Mrs. Southwell? Was your family more powerful before you married into the Southwells?โ€

โ€œYouโ€ฆโ€ Odessaโ€™s expression changed as her true colors were exposed, leaving her speechless. โ€œBarbaric! This whole house is full of barbarians! The truth will speak for itself; I wonโ€™t waste my breath on you!โ€

โ€œEnough!โ€ I held Grandma close, suppressing the urge to let Hera out and tear Odessa apart. โ€œBenjamin, youโ€™d better take your mother away right now, or I canโ€™t guarantee what will happen to her!โ€

My grandparents were my unbreakable line. I wouldnโ€™t allow anyone to cause them harm, no matter who they were. Benjamin was taken aback by my words. He frowned but didnโ€™t say anything. However, Hera, my inner wolf, seemed to sense the sorrow from his wolf, Lawrence. But right now, because of his mother, I couldnโ€™t help feeling resentful of him, even though Hera felt sad about my cold attitude towards him.

Fortunately, he seemed to understand my feelings. He grabbed Odessaโ€™s wrist and dragged her away.

Odessaโ€™s POV:

Our car was parked at the end of the alley. Benjamin shoved me into the car and slammed the door closed. โ€œTake her home,โ€ he commanded the driver before turning back and running towards the Carsons. I didnโ€™t have a chance to call out to him, as a wave of loneliness washed over me. After a brief sigh, I took out my phone and called Tina.

โ€œIโ€™m afraid I canโ€™t help you with the favor you asked.โ€

โ€œMrs. Southwell, what were you trying to say? Are you telling me that you canโ€™t handle such a simple matter? Or are you just making excuses to brush me off?โ€ Tina said sarcastically.

โ€œWatch your tone.โ€

I had nearly severed my relationship with Benjamin over helping her, and yet sheโ€™s mocking me? I was furious instantly. โ€œI had a big fight with my own son because of you, and now youโ€™re doubting me? If I were making excuses, I wouldnโ€™t have agreed to this mess in the first place!โ€

โ€œI had no interest in your familyโ€™s drama. Let me make it clear: whoever dares to touch my son, I will make sure they pay for it, even if I have to put my life at stake. Youโ€™d better think carefully before you act, Mrs. Southwell.โ€

โ€œHeyโ€”โ€ Tina hung up on me before I could finish my sentence. I was so annoyed that I threw my phone aside. If I had known, I wouldnโ€™t have helped her!

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

When I rushed back to the Carsons, Dorothyโ€™s condition had worsened. When I left, she could barely open her eyes. But now, her breath was shallow. Her life was slipping awayโ€”second by second. Hayley held Dorothy still, like a child clutching onto her beloved toy, terrified of losing it. My chest felt like it was being twisted, causing me to gasp for air. Even Lawrence could feel her sorrow, making him restless.

Just then, my phone rang.

โ€œHello, is this the Carsons who called for an ambulance? We are stuck at the intersection nearby due to a traffic accident and we are unable to get through. Can you find a way to move the patient out?โ€

โ€œI understand.โ€ I hung up and got ready to carry Dorothy out.

โ€œDonโ€™t touch her!โ€ Hayley suddenly stopped me from carrying her grandma.
