Chapter 574: Drag Midnight Pack Into a Crisis

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

Stevenโ€™s question lingered, but I remained composed. โ€œItโ€™s simply to spread positive rumors, making everyone believe Ortega Enterprise possesses significant financial strength, while Southwell Group is on the verge of collapse. This will attract investors to Ortega, making its value soar.โ€

Steven chuckled lightly. โ€œSince you already know that, why involve me with your fiancรฉโ€™s rival?โ€

โ€œOr are you suggesting you and Mr. Southwell arenโ€™t on the best of terms, and you want to teach him a lesson?โ€

Before I could respond, he continued, โ€œForgive my bluntness, but that lesson could be disastrous. Going down this path could bring Southwell Group to its kneesโ€”and drag Midnight Pack into a crisis as well.โ€

As he spoke, he subtly glanced at Benjamin, implying I didnโ€™t fully grasp the situationโ€™s complexities.

I was about to reply when Steven continued, his voice unwavering. โ€œMs. Carson, you may be clever, but you still lack a thorough understanding of business. I could have simply let Southwell Groupโ€™s stock plummet. But out of respect for X, Iโ€™ve been patient enough to warn you.โ€

Benjamin gently patted my hand, offering a calming touch. The irritation quickly subsided, and I took a slow, steady breath to regain my composure.

Once in control, I responded sharply, โ€œIf I recall correctly, Xโ€™s exact instructions were to assist from the sidelines, not to take matters into your own hands.โ€

I locked eyes with Steven, my voice rising in authority. โ€œSo, Mr. Lowe, are you intending to defy Xโ€™s wishes?โ€ Steven had acted too rashly, and I needed to remind him.

He stared at me, his gaze steady and calculating. I met his stare without hesitation.

After a long pause, he seemed to regain his focus, the arrogance in his demeanor fading. โ€œSo, are you saying X had other plans?โ€

โ€œMr. Lowe, your reaction is slower than I expected,โ€ I replied coldly. โ€œPerhaps after living abroad so long, youโ€™ve forgotten how we werewolves operate. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. The Ortegas caused my grandmotherโ€™s illness. I will make them pay for that.โ€

When I finished, I saw a brief flicker in Stevenโ€™s eyesโ€”approval? Or perhaps respect?

โ€œAlright,โ€ he said, his voice firm and satisfied.

After exchanging contact details, Benjamin and I left.

The following day, the news hit: Steven and the Ortegas were spotted together at a golf club. The headline spread rapidly across every major news platform.

Daniel reclined on a sun lounger, grinning at the newspaper. His own face stared backโ€”radiant, full of pride. He glanced over at Steven, who was busy swinging a club in the distance. Danielโ€™s confidence seemed to grow even more. With Stevenโ€™s backing, he felt unstoppable.

Who cared if Benjamin was the Alpha of the Midnight Pack? Sure, Benjamin might be a fierce fighter, but when it came to business, no oneโ€”least of all himโ€”could hold a candle to Steven.

Once Daniel had Steven firmly in his corner, he planned to teach Benjamin a lessonโ€”one that might end with him taking control of the Midnight Pack as well. With that thought in mind, Daniel confidently dialed a number, his arrogance radiating with every movement.
