Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 588: Shut Myself Off from the World
Hayleyโs POV:
I gently covered Grandpa with a blanket, my voice soft as I spoke, โI overheard you and Grandma talking about it once. I heard everything.โ
Grandpaโs expression changed instantly, a blend of guilt and worry crossing his face. He was silent for a long moment, and when he finally spoke, his voice was heavy with emotion. โHayley, your Grandma and I have always considered you our real granddaughter.โ
โI know,โ I responded quietly, placing my hand on his in reassurance. โI feel the same way. Donโt worry. Iโm fine.โ
Grandpa let out another sigh, but he didnโt say anything more. He knew me too well. He understood that when things got overwhelming, I tended to shut myself off from the world. I could sense his concern, but I kept my face neutral, giving nothing away.
Grandpa stared up at the ceiling, lost in thought. Then, almost as if remembering something, he turned his gaze toward Benjamin, filled with a quiet, expectant look. In that moment, I could see he was starting to respect Benjamin, approving of us being together.
Virginia stood against the wall, her mouth hanging open in shock. She had heard everythingโloud and clear. Hayley isnโt really a Carsonโshe was adopted! Could Hayley be my daughterโฆ Michelle? The thought rushed through Virginiaโs mind, excitement building within her.
Hayleyโs POV:
Once Grandpaโs condition seemed more stable, Justinโalways a nuisanceโwaltzed into the room, his eyes scanning the space. โDad, Mom said I should stay here with my wife. Where are all the gold bars, the bank cards, and all the rest? Did you bring it all from Shadow Pack?โ
โYouโre not well, so leave it to me. Iโll take care of things for Mom,โ he added shamelessly, rummaging through the room.
โYou useless good-for-nothing!โ Grandpaโs voice cracked with fury, his eyes wide with anger. โI have nothing to offerโno money, just my worthless life. Get out!โ
Justin, completely unfazed, waved him off. โIโm not leaving. This isnโt just your house, and your word isnโt the law here.โ
Chapter 588: Shut Myself Off from the World
Benjaminโs gaze was fixed on me, sensing my frustration. With a slight frown, he walked over to Justin, his voice steady but cold. โMr. Justin, I donโt think you belong here right now.โ
โCome with me,โ he continued, โIโll make arrangements for you to stay somewhere else?โ
โNo, thanks,โ Justin replied dismissively. โIโve got my own place. Why would I go live elsewhere?โ Without a second thought, he pulled out a chair and sat down, completely indifferent.
Benjaminโs eyes darkened, and his patience began to wear thin. Stepping forward, he spoke with more irritation, โAre you sure you donโt want to accept my offer?โ
Justin barely looked at him, then shook his head as if dismissing him entirely. โNo, I wonโt. You may be the Alpha of Midnight Pack, but you have no say in Shadow Pack or the Carson familyโs matters. Youโre not in a position to tell me what to do. Staying with my father is my right. I donโt need some stranger from another pack telling me otherwise.โ
Benjaminโs restraint snapped. Without another word, he pulled out his phone and dialed. โTyrone, bring a few people. Also, have my city apartment cleaned up.โ
โWhat are you doing? You canโt just force me out!โ Justinโs voice grew desperate. โYou canโt do this! This isnโt your territory, you know!โ
Benjamin ignored him completely, sliding his phone back into his pocket as he approached Grandpa and me. โIโll help you back to your room,โ he said softly.
I understood what he was doing. Forcing Justin out in front of Grandpa would upset him, so Benjamin was silently seeking Grandpaโs consent. After all, Benjamin didnโt have the right to evict his biological son without Grandpaโs approval.
As a former Alpha of Shadow Pack, Grandpa wasnโt unfamiliar with making tough decisions. He immediately sensed Benjaminโs intention. After a long pause, Grandpa glanced at me and then extended his hand to Benjamin, allowing him to help him rise. During the process, Grandpa deliberately swayed a bit, and I quickly stood up to support him on the other side. I knew Grandpa had something important he wanted to tell me.
