Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 595: Fed Up
Stevenโs POV:
For some reason, I felt an overwhelming presence from Hayley, despite her being just an Omega. โItโs simply a habit Iโve developed as a businessman. Itโs always wise to be cautious. I mean no harm,โ I quickly tried to explain, forcing myself to stay calm.
โNo harm?โ Hayley narrowed her eyes, and once again, a powerful energy radiated from herโan energy that didnโt match her appearance at all. A shiver ran down my spine, and a sense of unease settled over me. Without looking up, Hayley spoke in a flat tone, โI am X.โ
Her words caught me off guard, and I wanted to laugh. There was no way she was telling the truthโX had been making a name for herself in the financial world when Hayley was still a child!
Fed up with the entire situation, I turned and walked away, not wanting to waste any more time. I reached the entrance of the club, but Tina and Daniel intercepted me.
โMr. Lowe!โ Tina grinned. โBy tomorrow morning when the market opens, Southwell Groupโs stock will reach its limit down. Shouldnโt we finalize our deal?โ
โAlthough youโve seemed fine with us getting closer and have been spotted together by the media a few times, youโve never given us a firm answer,โ she continued. โIโm worried that as long as we donโt have a signed agreement, if you decide to side with Benjaminโs group, thereโs still a chance Southwell Group could make a comeback.โ
She openly shared her concerns with me. I was in a foul mood and didnโt feel like arguing with them. I waved them off dismissively. โYeah, yeah. Just get ready.โ
โReally? Thatโs great! How about tomorrow morning? Does that work for you?โ Tina asked, clearly excited.
โMm,โ I muttered irritably, pinching the bridge of my nose before turning and heading to my car.
Late at night, in the backyard of the Southwellsโ mansion, the Southwell family was already asleep. Their maid, Louisa Bailey, quietly cracked open the back door. Through the small gap, she cautiously spoke to Irving, who had been waiting outside. Benjamin has decided to cut ties with the Southwells. It caused quite an uproar.
In the darkness, Irvingโs face flickered with a sinister gleam, his eyes shining with mischief. โI see. Youโve done well, Louisa.โ
She felt conflicted about betraying the Southwells, but there was nothing she could do. Irving had allied himself with the leader of the witch clan, evading the punishment of the werewolf clan, and had fully embraced his demonic nature. He had threatened her with the life of her young grandson, who had just started elementary school.
โMr. Irving, as long as you keep your word and donโt harm my family, Iโll be forever grateful.โ
โDonโt worry. As long as you cooperate, I wonโt harm him,โ Irving said with a half-smile. โIf there are no further orders, I should be leaving now.โ
Louisa, eager to distance herself from the demon, quietly walked away, trying to keep her steps as light as possible. In the darkness, Irving turned and walked away, pulling out his phone from his pocket as he did.
News of Southwell Groupโs impending collapse spread quickly. Within an hour of the market opening, the companyโs value plummeted by nearly 10 billion dollars, hitting the limit down. Regulatory authorities stepped in, fearing drastic reactions from investors, but it was clear to everyoneโSouthwell Group was finished.
Hayleyโs POV:
After reading through the latest updates about Southwell Group, I tucked my phone away and calmly listened to the lecture in class. Loretta sat next to me, but she seemed unusually agitated, constantly tapping her pen and sighing heavily. It was hard not to notice her obvious distress.
โWhy arenโt you playing any games today?โ I asked, concerned.
โIโm not playing anymore,โ Loretta sighed, her voice sounding defeated. โMy dadโs business is in troubleโฆ I think he might go bankrupt. If that happens, I wonโt be able to finish school. Iโll probably have to drop out and work to help pay off the debt.โ
โIs it really that serious?โ I asked in shock. She was usually so carefree, always looking like she had no worries in the world. I never expected it to be such a big deal when something finally went wrong.
