Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 595: Fed Up

Stevenโ€™s POV:

For some reason, I felt an overwhelming presence from Hayley, despite her being just an Omega. โ€œItโ€™s simply a habit Iโ€™ve developed as a businessman. Itโ€™s always wise to be cautious. I mean no harm,โ€ I quickly tried to explain, forcing myself to stay calm.

โ€œNo harm?โ€ Hayley narrowed her eyes, and once again, a powerful energy radiated from herโ€”an energy that didnโ€™t match her appearance at all. A shiver ran down my spine, and a sense of unease settled over me. Without looking up, Hayley spoke in a flat tone, โ€œI am X.โ€

Her words caught me off guard, and I wanted to laugh. There was no way she was telling the truthโ€”X had been making a name for herself in the financial world when Hayley was still a child!

Fed up with the entire situation, I turned and walked away, not wanting to waste any more time. I reached the entrance of the club, but Tina and Daniel intercepted me.

โ€œMr. Lowe!โ€ Tina grinned. โ€œBy tomorrow morning when the market opens, Southwell Groupโ€™s stock will reach its limit down. Shouldnโ€™t we finalize our deal?โ€

โ€œAlthough youโ€™ve seemed fine with us getting closer and have been spotted together by the media a few times, youโ€™ve never given us a firm answer,โ€ she continued. โ€œIโ€™m worried that as long as we donโ€™t have a signed agreement, if you decide to side with Benjaminโ€™s group, thereโ€™s still a chance Southwell Group could make a comeback.โ€

She openly shared her concerns with me. I was in a foul mood and didnโ€™t feel like arguing with them. I waved them off dismissively. โ€œYeah, yeah. Just get ready.โ€

โ€œReally? Thatโ€™s great! How about tomorrow morning? Does that work for you?โ€ Tina asked, clearly excited.

โ€œMm,โ€ I muttered irritably, pinching the bridge of my nose before turning and heading to my car.

Late at night, in the backyard of the Southwellsโ€™ mansion, the Southwell family was already asleep. Their maid, Louisa Bailey, quietly cracked open the back door. Through the small gap, she cautiously spoke to Irving, who had been waiting outside. Benjamin has decided to cut ties with the Southwells. It caused quite an uproar.

In the darkness, Irvingโ€™s face flickered with a sinister gleam, his eyes shining with mischief. โ€œI see. Youโ€™ve done well, Louisa.โ€

She felt conflicted about betraying the Southwells, but there was nothing she could do. Irving had allied himself with the leader of the witch clan, evading the punishment of the werewolf clan, and had fully embraced his demonic nature. He had threatened her with the life of her young grandson, who had just started elementary school.

โ€œMr. Irving, as long as you keep your word and donโ€™t harm my family, Iโ€™ll be forever grateful.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. As long as you cooperate, I wonโ€™t harm him,โ€ Irving said with a half-smile. โ€œIf there are no further orders, I should be leaving now.โ€

Louisa, eager to distance herself from the demon, quietly walked away, trying to keep her steps as light as possible. In the darkness, Irving turned and walked away, pulling out his phone from his pocket as he did.

News of Southwell Groupโ€™s impending collapse spread quickly. Within an hour of the market opening, the companyโ€™s value plummeted by nearly 10 billion dollars, hitting the limit down. Regulatory authorities stepped in, fearing drastic reactions from investors, but it was clear to everyoneโ€”Southwell Group was finished.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

After reading through the latest updates about Southwell Group, I tucked my phone away and calmly listened to the lecture in class. Loretta sat next to me, but she seemed unusually agitated, constantly tapping her pen and sighing heavily. It was hard not to notice her obvious distress.

โ€œWhy arenโ€™t you playing any games today?โ€ I asked, concerned.

โ€œIโ€™m not playing anymore,โ€ Loretta sighed, her voice sounding defeated. โ€œMy dadโ€™s business is in troubleโ€ฆ I think he might go bankrupt. If that happens, I wonโ€™t be able to finish school. Iโ€™ll probably have to drop out and work to help pay off the debt.โ€

โ€œIs it really that serious?โ€ I asked in shock. She was usually so carefree, always looking like she had no worries in the world. I never expected it to be such a big deal when something finally went wrong.
