Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 705: Hidden Identity
Hayleyโs POV:
โHayley, donโt worry. Let me give it a go,โ Henry said confidently.
โThere are only a few of them, all of whom have a lower rank than me. They might not even beat me even if they rush at me together,โ he added.
I ignored Henry and smiled mysteriously at the man who seemed to be the leader. โYouโve misunderstood,โ I said. โI donโt intend to oppose you. I just want to do business with you.โ
The people in the black market were very cunning and adept at hiding their true identities. What appeared to be their rank might just be a bluff.
It was unwise to engage in conflict with them unless absolutely necessary.
โYou want to do business with me?โ The man sneered, a hint of cunning flashing in his eyes before he quickly concealed it. He asked coldly, โThen tell me, which one of you two is the โgoodโ one?โ
I was going to say I was the โgoodโ one, but I felt that wouldn't be convincing. After some thought, I pulled Henry to my side, patted his chest, and said, โThis one here is the โgoodโ one. He has a healthy body with no bad habits, and heโs a high-ranking Beta. Tell me your price.โ
Henry looked at me in astonishment, as if about to protest. I gave him a stern look, and he immediately understood, instantly transforming into a melodramatic protagonist. He pleaded, โYes, itโs me, but Iโm only selling one kidney. Considering how handsome I am, can you give me a little more money?โ
The man studied Henry thoroughly before saying, โI canโt make that decision. I need to bring you back and discuss this with my superiors. Do not worry; we have always been fair in our business dealings and will not cheat you.โ
โAlright, letโs go then,โ I happily agreed.
โYou seem eager to do this,โ the man said, shooting me an ambiguous look before turning to his men. โYou two, bring that guy back. The rest of you, follow me!โ
He then gestured toward Henry and me. โDonโt just stand there; letโs go.โ He turned and walked back in the direction they had come from, leading the way. I followed confidently, with Henry in tow. Two crimson wolves, the manโs henchmen, brought up the rear.
As we followed, we gradually left the bustling streets behind and were led into a deserted alley.
Henry whispered, โThey seem suspicious. Donโt let them outsmart you.โ
I smiled calmly and continued to walk confidently. I intended to see what plot they were scheming.
After more walking, we were finally led into a dead-end alley. The man stood at the end, slowly turning to look at us with a cunning expression. At the same time, a dozen menacing figures gathered at the alley entrance, brandishing sharp, wolf-like teeth, slowly closing in.
Henry turned in a defensive posture, remaining vigilant.
โWhereโs your boss?โ I calmly asked the leader.
Behind him, a crimson wolf answered in a hoarse voice, โLady, our boss controls business dealings in the entire black market. You dare follow us here without knowing anything? You have quite the courage!โ
I smiled, pretending to think. Then, I said to the leader, โSo, if I kill you, your business in the black market will come to an end, right?โ
Mad Dog laughed disdainfully, mocking me. โLady, you may not look big, but you sure have a big mouth. Tell me, which pack are you leading as the Alpha? You definitely arenโt just an Omega; otherwise, how dare you go against Lord Nicaria?โ
โI donโt belong to any pack. I just donโt like you,โ I replied casually.
โIf thatโs the case, donโt blame me for bullying a woman,โ Mad Dog snarled.
The manโs face darkened, and he gave a fierce command, โTear the man apart on the spot, and capture the woman alive!โ
