Chapter 728 Become a House Staff
Vivian's POV:
It was her. That wretched womanโshe was the one who destroyed my family!
I had to find a way to make her pay for what she'd done.
Steven urged Hayley, "Are things settled here? You two left in such a rush earlierโI still have something to discuss with you!"
"We're done here. Let's go," Benjamin said, wrapping an arm around Hayley and turning to leave.
"Since you've already seen me, why don't you come back to Annestone with meโ"
Before Steven could finish, a sudden thud behind them made everyone turn. Vivian had collapsed to the ground.
She was, after all, Odessa's best friend's daughter. Benjamin couldn't just stand by. He hurried over, lifted her up, and propped her against the side of the car.
One hand supported her while the other fished out his phone to dial emergency services.
Hayley didnโt want to waste any more time. With a swift motion, she pulled out a silver needle, knelt beside Vivian, and pressed the needle into a spot just below her temple.
I never expected Hayley to be so ruthless as to stick a needle into my head.
There was no way I could keep pretending to be unconscious. I snapped my eyes open, โwaking upโ instantly.
โYou saved me?โ I asked, feigning confusion as I looked at them.
โIt was Hayz,โ Benjamin replied.
I turned to Hayley, furrowing my brow and putting on my most delicate, pitiful expression. โYou donโt resent me for trying to come between you and Benjamin?โ
โWho said that?โ Hayley stood up, pulled out a tissue to wipe the silver needle clean, and tucked it away. โI just didnโt want to wait around here for the ambulance with you. Besides, the idea of you interfering was all in your head. Benjamin and I have never had a third person in our relationship.โ
I hadnโt expected her to be so confident in her relationship with Benjamin.
She was just an Omega. What right did she have to win Benjaminโs love?
A wave of resentment surged within me, but I quickly buried it, deliberately turning to Hayley with sincerity.
Slowly, I said, โYouโre right. There was never any room for me between you two. Everything in the past was my faultโcompletely out of line. I wonder, from now on, could you let me stay by your side? Even as house staff, just give me a chance to make amends.โ
โYouโre really something,โ Hayley said with a cold laugh. โFirst, you tried to steal someone elseโs mate, and now youโre changing tacticsโhoping to get close to Benjamin another way?โ
Steven, with a mocking smile, added, โYou, the former Alphaโs daughter, willing to become house staff? Thatโs quite a fall from grace.โ
โNo! I wonโt try anything again!โ I clenched my fists, swallowing my hatred for him, and forced myself to sound genuine. โI promise, Iโll only answer to Ms. Carson. If youโre worried, Iโll keep at least ten feet away from Alpha Benjamin whenever I see him. Isnโt that enough to earn your trust?โ
Benjamin shook his head and sighed. โYou donโt have to do this.โ
I didnโt dare look at him. I just stubbornly fixed my gaze on Hayley, waiting for her answer.
After a long pause, Hayley finally spoke, โThereโs no need. I have enough staff at home, and I donโt enjoy bossing people around.
โThe Jaggeds have already paid for what they did to me. Weโre even nowโno debts left between us. From this day on, our past grievances are settled. Just donโt appear in front of me again."
Without another word, Hayley turned and climbed into Benjaminโs car.
Steven and Benjamin both glanced down at me one last time, then got in their cars as well.
In moments, both vehicles disappeared into the traffic.
I slumped to the ground, fists clenched tight, jaw set hard.
Who did Hayley think she was, acting so superior? Without Benjamin, she was nothing but an Omegaโlooked down on by every werewolf.
She thought she could ruin me and just walk away without consequence? Not a chance.
If I couldnโt have happiness, Iโd make sure Hayley never found peace either.
With that thought burning in my chest, I scrambled to my feet, climbed into my battered old minivan, started the engine, and sped off toward the Carsons Estate โฆ
