Chapter 76: Legendary Figure

Hayleyโ€™s POV: +8 Pearls

After arriving at the dormitory, I found the dorm supervisor. Then, I followed the arrangement and made my way to Room 503. As soon as I stepped inside, I noticed a fellow dormmate was already busy making her bed. I greeted her cheerfully, โ€œHello!โ€

She glanced at me, and as her gaze met my face, disdain flickered in her eyes. โ€œYouโ€™re an Omega,โ€ she scoffed. โ€œYouโ€™re not worthy of speaking to me. Look at youโ€”youโ€™re so ugly and dressed so tackily.โ€

Her mockery didnโ€™t bother me. I shrugged nonchalantly, opened my suitcase, and began unpacking my things to set up my bed.

Just then, the dormitory door swung open again. Another girl walked in, stylishly dressed, clearly a rich girl. The haughty girl immediately approached her, saying, โ€œYouโ€™re in the same dorm as me, right? Welcome! Iโ€™m Mandy Hum. I hope we get along well during our time here.โ€

The rich girl smiled warmly at her and replied, โ€œHello, Iโ€™m Trista Wright.โ€ Trista glanced at me and gave a polite nod.

โ€œThis beta is much more polite than that low-tier beta named Mandy. If she dares to be rude to us again, just let me take over your body, and Iโ€™ll teach her a lesson,โ€ Hera suggested to me.

โ€œI wonโ€™t even need to transform into a wolf to deal with her. I just hope she knows her place and doesnโ€™t provoke me,โ€ I replied, casting a disdainful glance at Mandy.

โ€œHi, my bed is right next to you,โ€ Trista said, pointing to the empty space beside me and greeting me.

I nodded back, friendly. As her words hung in the air, a maid entered and helped Trista set up her bed.

Mandy realized Tristaโ€™s status as someone who commanded respect and dropped her previous cold attitude towards me, adopting one of eagerness towards Trista. She eagerly offered Trista a snack she had brought along. โ€œThese are treats my dad got me while on a business trip abroad. You should try some.โ€

Trista looked at the offering and politely declined. โ€œThanks, but Iโ€™m on a diet and donโ€™t eat snacks. My mom insisted I bring some fruit. Let me share it with you.โ€

She stood up and retrieved the fruit she had brought, taking out two boxes of white strawberries. She handed one to Mandy and the other to me.

I looked at the strawberries in front of me and smiled softly, โ€œThank you, but I donโ€™t like strawberries.โ€

However, Trista placed the box directly on my desk, insisting, โ€œThese strawberries are delicious. Give them a try; you might end up liking them.โ€

Mandy thought I must have never seen white strawberries before and sneered at me, โ€œWhite strawberries are quite rare and expensive. I bet youโ€™ve never had one. Saying you donโ€™t like them is a joke, really. Even if youโ€™re telling the truth, we wonโ€™t laugh at you.โ€

Trista glanced at me reassuringly and added, โ€œDonโ€™t mind her. This is just a box of ordinary strawberries. If you donโ€™t like them, Iโ€™ll bring other fruits for you next time.โ€

I smiled at her and replied, โ€œThank you.โ€

Trista responded, โ€œYouโ€™re welcome! Since weโ€™ll be sharing a dorm, I hope you all will look out for me. Iโ€™m not particularly confident in my math skills. My family insisted I join this training camp, but I doubt Iโ€™ll make it to the national finals.โ€

โ€œTrista, youโ€™re too modest. Everyone knows that those who get into this training camp are someone to reckon with,โ€ Mandy interjected without hesitation, flattering her. โ€œFrom now on, letโ€™s support each other and improve together.โ€

โ€œBy the way, have you heard of the tennis champion, Hayley Carson? I think sheโ€™s attending this training camp too. It would be wonderful if we could share a dorm with her,โ€ Trista suddenly asked.

I paused, surprised. Before I could say anything, Mandy jumped in. โ€œI heard Hayley is not only amazing at tennis but also won first place in the Spanish public speaking competition! Now sheโ€™s representing the school in this Math Olympiadโ€”sheโ€™s a genius!โ€

โ€œIโ€™d love to meet her. But someone like Hayley wouldnโ€™t want to hang out with us ordinary folks, would she?โ€

Mandyโ€™s words gave the impression that she thought I was difficult to get along with.

โ€œDo you know her well? Are you familiar with her?โ€

Mandy was momentarily speechless.

Trista quickly intervened, shrugging her shoulders. โ€œItโ€™s okay. Even just meeting someone of her caliber is an honor.โ€

Mandy fell silent but shot me a fierce glare.

โ€œShall we head to class together?โ€ Trista invited me. I was taken aback but happily replied, โ€œSure!โ€

Neither of us invited Mandy as we left the dorm, laughing and chatting while she glowered at us in jealousy.

As we stepped out, Trista suddenly asked, โ€œOh, I almost forgot to askโ€”whatโ€™s your name?โ€

I smiled and clearly pronounced my name, โ€œHayley Carson.โ€
