Chapter 80: Fair Competition

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

He said, โ€œI havenโ€™t met a rival in a long time, but you qualify as one.โ€

I smiled calmly and replied, โ€œThank you; youโ€™re quite impressive yourself.โ€

โ€œEven though youโ€™re just an Omega, I wonโ€™t use my rank to overshadow you. Weโ€™ll compete fairly, and Iโ€™ll work hard to surpass you.โ€ Jeremy looked at me with serious determination.

I nodded, encouraging him, โ€œGood luck.โ€

Jeremy gave me a deep glance before turning to leave.

The class was scheduled tightly, from morning until evening. Even after returning to the dorm, I led a study session for another hour. Even Trista, who usually showed little interest in studying, found herself caught up in the momentum.

As for Mandy, she didnโ€™t need much encouragement; her skills were already decent. Every time she saw me studying, her competitive spirit kicked in, and she would hit the books too.

Time passed quickly, and before we knew it, a week had passed. The weekend was upon us. The teachers granted all the students a half-day off. Benjamin came to pick me up today.

As my dormmate and I stepped out of school, Hera reacted excitedly. I noticed Benjamin from a distance.

โ€œIโ€™m heading home now; see you tomorrow!โ€ I said my goodbyes to Trista and Lillian before getting into Benjaminโ€™s car.

Mandyโ€™s POV:

As I walked out, I spotted Hayley stepping into a luxury car. In front of me, Trista and Lillian were gossiping. Lillian exclaimed dramatically, โ€œOh my gosh, could that be Hayleyโ€™s mate? Heโ€™s way too handsome!โ€

Trista nodded and expressed her envy, saying, โ€œIโ€™m so jealous of Hayley! Sheโ€™s smart and has a handsome mate.โ€

โ€œRight? Even though sheโ€™s just a low-ranking werewolf, her mate looks like a beta like us. Sheโ€™s incredibly talented tooโ€”great at tennis and now excelling in Math Olympiads. Sheโ€™s quite attractive.โ€

Listening to their praise for that b*tch made me feel nauseated. I thought about how Hayley usually dressed, completely unlike someone from a wealthy family, yet here she was being picked up in a luxury car. I scoffed and said, โ€œWhat mate? Maybe Hayleyโ€™s just being kept by someone. I donโ€™t get itโ€”are rich people blind these days? Who would want someone as plainly her?โ€

Sheโ€™s a low-ranking werewolf, but sheโ€™s still my friend, and Iโ€™m a beta just like you. I wonโ€™t allow you to speak ill of her.

I dismissed her warning and rebuked, โ€œWhat am I saying thatโ€™s wrong? Does Hayley look like someone from a rich family? Itโ€™s you who canโ€™t see the truth.โ€

Trista frowned at me with disdain. She mocked, โ€œSome people have filthy minds and see dirt everywhere. Those kinds of people are simply uncultured.โ€

โ€œExactly! Mandy, youโ€™re the one with the problem. Maybe you should see a therapist,โ€ Lillian chimed in, pulling Trista away.

I clenched my fists tightly, biting my lip in anger. I wanted nothing more than to transform into a wolf and tear them apart. Regrettably, they were both betas of my level. When they teamed up together, I couldnโ€™t take them on.

I yelled at their retreating figures, โ€œYou donโ€™t believe me, do you? Just wait! I will prove that Hayley is nothing but a kept mistress.โ€

โ€œYโ€“You w*tch!โ€ Lillian turned around, glaring at me. She was ready to argue, but Trista held her back. โ€œLet it go; sheโ€™s just a rabid dog. Donโ€™t pay her any mind.โ€

โ€œRight, the rabid dog is barking here!โ€

With that, they walked away, leaving me standing alone. As I observed their foolish behavior, a cold huff escaped my lips. Just like that, I was determined to find evidence of Hayley being a mistress. Genius? Nah, she was just a kept woman. I was going to make everyone see Hayley for who she really was!

After a moment of thought, I came up with an idea and made a phone call. โ€œFind me a paparazzo, someone skilled at taking discreet photos.โ€
