Chapter 150
Hannah tightened her grip on Noahโs arm, her nails digging slightly into his flesh as she yanked him toward her. He stumbled, an irritated frown furrowing his brow as he turned. โWhat the hell is your problem?โ he snapped, trying to free his arm.
With a huff, she maintained her grip and led him to a secluded spot behind a nearby food truck, its doors and windows shut, the interior dark. Pressing them against the cold metal, she whirled to face him, leveling him with a withering glare.
โYou want to know what my problem is?โ she echoed, arching an eyebrow. โWhy donโt you tell me what your problem is, Noah? Why are you really here with Zoe?โ
He opened his mouth, but she cut him off with a harsh laugh and a dismissive wave. Noticing onlookers, she quickly softened her expression, offering a false smile and stroking his arm to appear intimate. Noah mirrored her actions.
โActually, let me guess,โ she said sarcastically. โYou felt bad for Zoe, so you decided to take her out? Did you come here knowing Iโd be here too?โ She scoffed, looking away. โAs if you havenโt already twisted the knife enough.โ
A muscle twitched in Noahโs jaw, but he didnโt deny itโof course not. Heโd always been Zoeโs white knight, rushing to her rescue. Even after her nasty fall, heโd gone to Zoe. Slept in her bed.
โMaybe I did want to make her feel better,โ he growled, his gritted teeth barely concealing a smile. โYouโve been out with her ex-husband. Sheโs already going through enough, and now youโre adding salt to the wound.โ
โDrake and I are just friends,โ Hannah huffed, trailing her fingers up his chest, noting his shudder. โWe have no interest in each other, never have, never will.โ
Noah narrowed his eyes. โYeah, well, Zoe doesnโt know that.โ
A growl rumbled in Hannahโs throat. โWhy do you care what she thinks?โ
โBecause,โ Noah said, โsheโs myโฆ friend.โ
โFriend.โ She scoffed. โYou always put her first. Did it ever occur to you that if youโd offered to take me out, I wouldnโt have gone out with Drake?โ
Noah bristled, his nostrils flaring. He leaned over her, pressing his hand against the metal above her head, trapping her between him and the truck. He leaned down, his lips brushing her ear.

โThatโs not true, and you know it,โ he whispered. โIโve been supportive of your recovery, Hannah. Iโve been there for you every step of the way, whether you realize it or not.โ
โOh, like feeding me a casserole once is โsupportive of my recoveryโ?โ she said, shivering slightly under his touch. โVionaโs the one taking me to my support group. You havenโt even checked on me at homeโhell, you left me alone with stitches in my f***ing head after that fall, and Iโmโโ
Suddenly, her mouth snapped shut. Sheโd almost revealed her pregnancy. Goddess, how long could she keep up this lie?
