Chapter 176

โ€œNot bad,โ€ he said, catching his breath before standing and extending his hand. โ€œI think we can call it a day.โ€

Nodding, I took his hand; he effortlessly lifted me to my feet. โ€œThanks. That wasโ€ฆโ€ I paused, watching him gather his things. โ€œThat was a good session,โ€ I finished.

Noah glanced at me over his shoulder. โ€œYou really mean that?โ€

I nodded, my ears reddening slightly. It had been surprisingly goodโ€”heโ€™d been incredibly patient, far more than Iโ€™d ever seen. Weโ€™d spent most of the session on the floor, grappling; more focus on escapes than punches and kicks, and Iโ€™d finished unscathed.

โ€œYeah,โ€ I replied, โ€œI do.โ€

Noah stiffened, and I met his gaze in the mirror. Before I could decipher his expression, he straightened and headed for the door. โ€œIโ€™m hungry. Letโ€™s get a protein smoothie.โ€

Minutes later, I sat at the kitchen counter while Noah searched for smoothie ingredients. โ€œYou should have one every day,โ€ he said, producing protein powder, milk, and frozen fruit. โ€œEspecially if youโ€™re trying to gain weight.โ€

I pursed my lips, looking down at myself. I was gaining weight, but still had a long way to go. โ€œIโ€™ll keep that in mind,โ€ I said, watching him blend the ingredients.

He poured the smoothie into a glass and slid it to meโ€”only one serving. โ€œYouโ€™re not having any?โ€ I asked, noticing him rinsing the blender.

He shrugged. โ€œWeโ€™re out of protein powder. Iโ€™ll eat later.โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ I frowned, jumping from my stool. I retrieved two straws and thrust them into the glass, Noah blinking at me in surprise. โ€œLetโ€™s share.โ€

โ€œButโ€”โ€

โ€œI wonโ€™t finish it anyway,โ€ I insisted, taking my seat and gesturing to the seat beside me. โ€œHelp me.โ€

Noah gaped, clearly debating. When I gave him a warning glare, he huffed and sat down. We sipped, the kitchen silent. I couldn't deny the heat rising in my cheeks, nor the occasional brush of our knees. I didnโ€™t pull away, and neither did heโ€”though his face remained impassive.

Then, as we both leaned forward, our noses bumped. Hard.

Noah recoiled as if burned. I pulled back, rubbing my nose, a giggle escaping. โ€œSorry,โ€ I muttered.

โ€œI have to go.โ€

Before I could question him, Noah was on his feet. The last thing I saw before he rushed from the room was his face, the brightest red Iโ€™d ever seenโ€ฆand a noticeable bulge in his pants.
