Chapter 158

"Young man," Caden said disdainfully, "I have the freedom to choose whoever I please to cure my daughter. And compared to you, I'd much rather trust Dr. Shane with this task."

Had he not been desperate, he would never have asked this rascal for help.

"It's fine that you've chosen someone else, Mr. Murray, but the Gozoraberry you promised me…"

Caden cut him off. "You didn't do anything. Why should you have the Gozoraberry? Do you think you deserve it?"

Dustin frowned. "So you're going back on your word?"

Dustin wasn't short-tempered, but ungrateful people like Caden always got on his nerves.

"Young man, cut the nonsense. Isn't it just the money you're after? Guards, bring him two million dollars!"

At Caden's order, his guards returned with two cases of cash. "Here," Caden said, "take this as payment for helping Sheila. We're even now."

Xavier roared, "Don't you hear that? Take the money and leave! Now!"

Dustin suddenly burst into laughter, but his eyes were cold and icy. "What a good strategy, Mr. Murray. How unfortunate for you that you're overly optimistic. Do you really think Malcolm Shane can cure your daughter?"

A commotion erupted.

"You rascal! Do you have any idea what you've just said? This is Dr. Shane we're talking about! There haven't been any conditions he couldn't cure!"

"That's right! What an insolent young man! If Dr. Shane can't cure her, do you think you can?"

"Where did this scoundrel come from? What cheek he has to doubt Dr. Shane!"

Chapter 159

The doctors gathered to reprimand Dustin.

Malcolm gave him a once-over, obviously displeased. "Young man, may I know from whom you learned your skills? How dare you boast in front of everyone?"

In all his years practicing medicine, he had never been doubted, much less by a wet-behind-the-ears rascal.

Xavier said hostilely, "Hah! You overestimate yourself! How dare you put on airs in front of Dr. Shane? You're really asking for it!"

Caden spoke sternly, annoyed. "Young man, I don't know where you got the confidence to doubt Dr. Shane, but I'd like you to leave now. Don't disrupt him from saving my daughter!" How dare this fellow try to take advantage of his benevolence?

Malcolm stood with his hands behind his back. "There's no need to drive him out. Let him stay and watch. Since he doubts my skills, I'll show him what I'm capable of!"

The doctors excessively flattered him. "As expected of Dr. Shane! He carries himself with such dignity and confidence!"

As Malcolm had spoken, Caden didn't object and allowed Dustin to remain.

Lily pulled Dustin aside and apologized sincerely. "I'm so sorry to have made you come here for nothing, buddy. If Sheila's fine, I'll try to talk to Caden about the Gozora berry and see if you can have it." This was the man who had saved her daughter. Lily knew she owed him and wanted to repay him if she could.

Dustin's expression softened. "I'd appreciate that, Mrs. Murray." There was finally someone sensible in the family.

Caden waved Malcolm over. "Dr. Shane, let's not wait any longer. Please proceed."

Malcolm nodded and sat beside Sheila's bed, checking her pulse. A short while later, he announced confidently, "If I'm not mistaken, the patient is weak and has poor circulation due to internal coldness, and toxins have accumulated. Once the coldness and toxins are expelled, she will be fine."

Caden asked expectantly, "And I presume you have the means to do that, Dr. Shane?"

Malcolm smiled lightly. "Though it's a little tricky, it's no big deal for me. I shall perform acupuncture therapy to expel the coldness and toxins from her body!"

He took out several needles and swiftly inserted them into Sheila's skin on her nape, navel, below her knees, on the soles of her feet, and on her back. His movements were so swift, easy, and skillful that his audience was awestruck.

Chapter 159 (continued)

By the time his needles were in place, wisps of cold air slowly emanated from Sheila's limbs.

Malcolm produced a thicker, longer needle and inserted it into the top of Sheila's head. "And for the last one!"

Soon, a great deal of mist emerged from Sheila's skin. For a brief moment, everyone in the room felt an eerie chill.

Malcolm declared confidently, "Alright, the coldness is now expelled. It won't be long before the patient recovers."

Caden exclaimed excitedly, "No wonder you're a world-renowned miracle healer. Your acupuncture therapy is just plain magical!" His earlier gloom and anxiety vanished instantly.

Xavier beamed. "That's right! With Dr. Shane around, any disease or condition can be easily handled!"

Claudia provocatively raised her chin at Dustin. "Hey, you! Do you admit defeat?" How dare he doubt Dr. Shane? He doesn't know where he stands! she thought.

Dustin shook his head contemptuously. Sheila suffered from Polarfrost! That's a rare condition that occurs only once a century! How could it possibly be so easily cured? he thought.

While everyone rejoiced, Lily noticed something amiss. "Hey, hasn't the coldness been expelled? But why does Sheila look even paler than before?"
