Chapter 174

When the old man suddenly sat up, all the guests were startled. Some women screamed frantically, losing their composure.

“It’s a zombie!”

Shocked, the crowd scattered. No one expected the motionless corpse to suddenly spring to life. It was a terrifying moment.

“Dad? Y-you’re not dead?” The middle-aged man feigned shock.

“Yes, I’m not dead.” The old man gave a forced smile. His voice was slurred; his dentures were knocked out. Combined with his swollen cheeks, he was a comical sight.

“Oh my god! This young man could even revive the dead! How could this be?”

“No words can express my amazement!”

“What a strange way to treat people! Are medical techniques nowadays getting more straightforward?”

Pandemonium erupted in the hall. Some onlookers were shocked; others were curious. Staring at the obviously alive old man, the scene was chaotic.

“Hey, I saved your father’s life! Is it too much to ask for some gratitude?” Dustin smirked.

“You bastard! Even if my father survived, it’s due to his good luck! It doesn’t change the fact that Immortunol is poisonous!” The middle-aged man was livid.

“That’s right! I almost died after eating your medicine. I’m still sore all over!” The old man gritted his teeth, resentful. After such a fierce beating, he wouldn’t let Dustin go without sufficient compensation.

“Oh? Where else do you feel uncomfortable? Let me have a look.” Dustin stepped forward.

Frightened, the old man repeatedly backed away. “What are you doing? Stay away from me!”

“Don’t be nervous! Your illness isn’t fully cured; you’ve just regained consciousness. Let me diagnose you for a complete recovery, just in case.” Dustin smiled.

At that moment, Ruth excitedly ran over, carrying a large kitchen knife. “Dustin, the knife you wanted is here!”

“Perfect timing. Although it’s bigger than I’m used to, it’s just right to crack open a skull.” Dustin took the knife and swung it.

“Crack open my skull?!” The old man trembled. “Son, let’s go to the hospital for a full examination!”

“Oh, right! Of course, we have to go to the hospital first!” Seeing the unfavorable situation, the middle-aged man quickly helped the old man to his feet and tried to run away inconspicuously.

“Did I say you could go?” Dustin stepped forward, grabbed the old man by the hair, and pulled him back. “I always treat my patients to the best of my ability, even after their deaths. How can I ignore such a sick man?” He brandished the knife.

“Don’t, don’t! I’m not sick, I’ve recovered!” The old man shivered.

“Don’t be stubborn: your illness is life-threatening. Everyone witnessed it.” Dustin said earnestly.

“That’s right, old man. If you’re sick, you should seek treatment. You shouldn’t refuse his good intentions!” Someone chimed in.

“That’s right, this young man is highly skilled. You should trust him. Nothing bad will happen.” Others agreed, persuading the old man.

“I’m fine; I’m really fine.” The old man shook his head frantically, tears streaming down his face.

“Lie down and don’t move. Let me see where to make the first incision,” Dustin ordered, pinning the helpless old man down.

“Let him go! You’re committing murder!” The middle-aged man panicked, but several bodyguards held him back.

“According to my diagnosis, you are in grave condition! Let’s start by cracking your skull open, then we’ll move on to cutting your abdomen…” Dustin trailed off, lifting his knife.

“Wait! I’m not sick! Someone paid me to pretend to be dead!” Realizing his life was at stake, the old man wailed, revealing the truth.

“He was paid off?” “Pretended to be dead?”

Fury erupted.

“What a bunch of scammers! How dare you cause trouble here?”

“I can’t believe I felt sorry for you. You’re all liars!”

“Young man, just chop them up. Trash like them deserves to die!”

The crowd erupted into chaos, some threatening violence.

“Tell me, who put you up to this?” Dustin held his knife to the old man’s neck.

“I don’t know; we were paid. We don’t know anything else.” The old man shook his head.

“Please spare us; we won’t do this again.” The middle-aged man pleaded.

They were scoundrels who preyed on the weak. Once exposed, their courage vanished.

“Take these troublemakers away!” At Natasha’s command, they were quickly taken away. She didn’t need an answer; she knew who was behind it.

“Useless idiots!” In the crowd, Edwin snorted coldly and left. He knew he had lost. His schemes had failed.

“It’s over, we’re done for.” Quentin’s face was pale. His hope was dashed. If Immortunol launched successfully, how could he sell his Eternumax? He’d invested his entire fortune.

“Dustin, how did you know the old man was pretending? I saw he wasn’t breathing.” Ruth asked curiously.

“He was using a breath-holding technique. I’m familiar with scammers’ tricks; it’s not worth mentioning.” Dustin replied with a faint smile.

“Oh, I see. It’s a good thing you figured it out!” Ruth patted her chest in relief.

“Mr. Rhys, you are amazing! You exposed the deception effortlessly! My admiration is immeasurable!” Malcolm flattered Dustin. Just sitting quietly wasn't his style.

Jessica gave Dustin a cold glance before smiling at Dr. Shane. “Dr. Shane, he just stumbled upon the solution by chance. How can you lower yourself to his level? If it weren’t for your help developing Immortunol, the Harmon family would be in huge trouble! You are the biggest hero of the day!”

“What are you talking about? Who said I developed Immortunol?” Malcolm frowned.

“What?” Jessica was stunned. “Who else has the ability?”

Malcolm rolled his eyes. “You really have no eye for talent! The mastermind behind Immortunol is Mr. Rhys!”

“What?” Jessica was dumbfounded.
