Chapter 183
“Why don’t you get a better brain in your next life?” Dustin spat, looking at Xavier’s corpse. With one swift motion, he tossed the body aside as if it were trash.
Xavier’s body landed with a “thump” near Claudia and the others. His face was riddled with fear and disbelief. Even in death, he didn’t understand why Dustin had attacked him.
Everyone gasped, petrified, staring at the corpse. They were frozen, at a loss for how to respond.
To think that an heir from an affluent family, the pride of the city, had his life taken so casually? How was this possible?
After a brief silence, the scene erupted in a frenzy of chatter.
“Are you out of your mind, Dustin?! D-d-did you actually just kill Xavier?” Claudia shouted, her face full of shock. She looked at Dustin as if he were a maniac.
Dustin’s act was akin to a peasant killing a king—treacherous and heartless!
“You’ve done it this time, bastard! You’ve really done it this time!”
“Since you killed Xavier, you’ve got nowhere to hide!”
“The Horst family will exact their revenge on you, your family, and your friends. Everyone you love will be a target, and they’ll follow you all to your graves!” Nigel hissed frantically.
“He’s insane! This guy’s truly gone off his rocker!”
“The Horst family is a long line of martial artists, influential throughout South City. They have countless disciples, so you’ve made countless enemies.”
“Do you even know what you did? How dare you kill Mr. Horst? Even God can’t protect you now!”
The crowd was in an uproar. No one expected Dustin to be so bold. Did he want to die?
“As long as you don’t cross me, I won’t do the same to you. But if you do, I’ll return the favor. This Horst wanted to kill me, so how could I let him live?” Dustin’s expression remained stoic.
“You’re fucking insane! You madman! You’ll definitely regret this!” Claudia roared, still in shock. She glared at him as if he were a dead man.
“I never regret anything I do. If the Horst family wants revenge, tell them to come anytime.” Dustin snapped before turning to leave.
“Hey, wait for me! You were so cool tonight, brother-in-law, but Xavier’s not small fry. I doubt this will end well. But don’t worry, with the Harmon family’s help, we can take care of this!” Ruth exclaimed, running to catch up.
“Don’t bother. I dealt the killing blow, so I shouldn’t be afraid. Even if we fight again, who knows who’ll win?” Dustin was unconcerned.
“Are you for real? You don’t need to put up a front!” Ruth said suspiciously.
The Horst family, while slightly less powerful than the Harmon family, was still a force to be reckoned with in the city. While Dustin was powerful, he was up against an affluent family with years of influence. It seemed a single person couldn’t fight such a powerful force.
“You’ll find out soon enough.” Dustin chuckled softly, refusing to reveal more.
As soon as they left, the room erupted into chaos again.
“Quick! Notify the Horst family immediately!”
“To think that madman dared to kill Mr. Horst. We’ll make sure he pays!”
Chapter 103
“Consider it done! This won’t be the first time I’ve killed someone to get what I want. I’ll make sure it’s discreet.” Gabriel plotted, an evil glint flashing in his eyes.
Every man is presumed innocent until proven guilty. How could a nobody possess such a valuable treasure? He deserved to die.
“Sir Gabriel! Something terrible has happened!” A panicked Horst family guard interrupted, tumbling to the ground after running too fast. His clumsy arrival made Gabriel frown.
“You fool! What are you panicking about?” Gabriel snapped.
“I—” The guard hesitated.
“Spit it out! What the hell is going on?” Gabriel snapped, confused.
“Sir! Something terrible has happened! M-Mr. Horst has been killed!” The guard wailed, falling to his knees.
“What?! What the hell are you talking about? My son seemed fine, so how is he dead now?” Gabriel shrieked, leaping from his chair, his face full of horror.
“It’s true, sir. Mr. Horst’s neck was broken. His corpse is outside.” The guard cried.
“That’s impossible! Absolutely impossible!” Gabriel spat, frantically shaking his head in disbelief.
However, when they carried Xavier’s corpse into the room, Gabriel felt as if he’d been struck by lightning. His face turned pale.
“Who?! Who the hell did this?!” Gabriel yelled frantically, reeling from the shock. His eyes were bloodshot; he acted like a rabid beast.
Such senseless violence! Such madness!
“I-it was a guy called Dustin Rhys.” The guard stammered.
“Dustin Rhys, you fucking dog! How dare you kill my son? I’ll break your body into pieces! I’ll tear you to shreds!” Gabriel roared, gnashing his teeth. His eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
“Pass on the order! Use all your resources! Search the entire city! We must find that bastard at all costs!”
I have corrected grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure throughout. I have also removed unnecessary repetition and improved the flow of the narrative. The dialogue is more natural and the pacing is better.
