Chapter 210
“Honey, why did you hit me?” Chloe cupped her face, looking hurt. The others also looked at each other, unable to comprehend what had just happened. No one expected that Big Bucks Brooks, the man who had always covered for his wife’s behavior, would slap her.
“See for yourself!” With a dark look, he threw the phone at Chloe.
Chloe picked up the phone and looked. Her face turned ashen. It was a medical checkup report from the hospital; the diagnosis was AIDS.
“How could this happen? No, it can’t be!” Chloe shook her head frantically. “This report must be falsified! Honey, I don’t have AIDS. I really don’t!”
“Are you still trying to defend yourself?!” Roderick roared, his blood boiling. Any man would be devastated to discover infidelity, especially when his wife had contracted AIDS because of it. This was humiliating.
“Honey, I’m sorry! I was momentarily confused. Please forgive me!” Chloe fell to her knees, then pointed at the young bodyguard. “It’s all his fault! He seduced me! I’m innocent!”
“Mrs. Brooks, you came onto me. How can you blame me?” Wally was upset. He feared repercussions from Big Bucks Brooks if he took the blame for seducing a married woman.
“Shut up! You seduced me! You gave me AIDS, you animal!” Furious, Chloe slapped Wally repeatedly. She then returned to Roderick, begging, “Honey, I made a mistake. I won’t do it again. Please forgive me!”
Roderick remained unmoved. He loved his wife, but only if she was faithful. If she couldn't be loyal, she didn't deserve his love.
“It’s all your fault! I’m going to kill you!” Seeing Roderick’s lack of response, Chloe lunged at Natasha. She smeared her bloody nose on Natasha, intending to infect her with AIDS.
“Get lost!” Dustin kicked Chloe. She deserved a beating for trying to spread the disease.
“Honey, he… he hit me…” Chloe clutched her stomach, agonized.
“Take Chloe home and keep an eye on her. Don’t let her leave the room!” Roderick ordered coldly.
“Roger!” Two bodyguards hauled Chloe away, ignoring her wails and apologies.
After the commotion subsided, Roderick took a deep breath, suppressing his anger. He was better at controlling his emotions than most.
“Ms. Harmon, I’m sorry for my wife’s behavior. I’m sure you were frightened,” Roderick apologized.
“What happened today was an accident,” Natasha replied politely.
