Chapter 226
At the airport that morning, Edwin and Tina waited in front of a Rolls-Royce Phantom. "Dad, we've been waiting for two hours. Why isn't Joshua here yet?" Tina glanced around anxiously.
"Flights are often delayed. Let's wait a little longer," Edwin said calmly. He had received a call from Joshua the previous night; Joshua had completed his refinement and was now the Hummer family's trump card.
As they spoke, a young couple exited the airport. The man was handsome and dignified, possessing a sharp, almost intimidating presence. The woman, dressed in red, was equally striking—beautiful, elegant, and powerful.
"Dad, he's here!" Tina exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. She had been eagerly anticipating his return.
"Josh, you're finally back!" Edwin approached with a bright smile.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Dad," Joshua replied, smiling and gesturing to the woman beside him. "Allow me to introduce you to Jade Grant, my fiancée."
"Jade Grant?" Edwin looked surprised. "Is she the third daughter of the Grant family?"
"Yes, that's right," Joshua confirmed.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Hummer," Jade nodded.
"The pleasure is all mine," Edwin responded, delighted. "As expected of a daughter of the Grant family—you are the very embodiment of beauty and grace!" He hadn't expected his son to win the Grant family's favor. The five wealthiest families in Millsburg were known as the Fabulous Five, but three families—the Tremendous Three—were even more powerful. The Grants were one of them. An alliance with the Grants through Joshua's marriage would secure a bright future for the Hummers.
Once they were in the car, Joshua asked, "Dad, why did you summon me home so urgently?" He had finished his refinement the night before when he received the summons.
Edwin sighed, looking helpless. "Swinton has a new player—powerful beyond our expectations. He's defeated all my men, and our family has been struggling because of him. I had no choice but to call you home."
Tina chimed in, "You have no idea how obnoxious he is, Joshua! He even beat me up on my birthday over the smallest things! Look at my arm—I haven't fully recovered! You have to get even with him!"
Joshua's face darkened, and a menacing aura surrounded him. "Who is this guy? How dare he bully a member of the Hummer family?"
"His name is Dustin Rhys, and he's not to be underestimated," Edwin said. "He also has the Harmon family's backing."
Jade chuckled lightly. "They're just one of the Fabulous Five—they don't hold much weight. If you need any help, Mr. Hummer, just say the word."
Joshua said calmly, "It's unnecessary for the Grant family to get involved in something so menial. Now that I'm back, I won't allow anyone to challenge the Hummer family's authority—not even the Harmon family!"
Edwin asked tentatively, "Josh, have you… have you had a breakthrough?"
Joshua smiled proudly. "Yes, I have. I've achieved divinity!"
Edwin was delighted. "A divine-level martial artist? That's fantastic! I knew you wouldn't let me down!"
Joshua was likely the only divine-level martial artist in Swinton. Low-level martial artists were no match for him; while they could refine their skills, physical abilities had limits.
