Chapter 269

“It’s you!” Dakota was momentarily taken aback when she recognized Dustin. He, too, looked at her with astonishment. He never expected that the two women were the relatives Dahlia had mentioned. What a small world!

“Oh, did you two know each other?” Dahlia’s quizzical gaze flitted between them.

“Not only are we acquainted,” Dakota hissed through clenched teeth, “he’s the guy who beat us up yesterday!”

“What?” Everyone was surprised.

“Um, Dakota, are you sure you have the right person?” Florence questioned cautiously.

“No! How could I? I’d recognize him even if he turned to ashes! I suspect my mom got a headache from his slap!” Dakota was merciless.

“Right! I must have fallen ill because of that slap! Get someone to arrest him!” Jane bellowed from her bed. She hadn’t forgotten yesterday’s events and was furious at seeing her attacker again.

“Dustin, what’s going on? Why did you hit them?” Dahlia was baffled to learn he had a grudge against Jane and Dakota, her Glenstead relatives.

“They deserved it,” Dustin replied bluntly. “They rear-ended another car, nearly killing the other driver. Then they acted like bullies. I slapped them because I couldn’t stand them anymore.”

“You rascal! Do you know who they are? How dare you hit them?” Florence was incensed that Dustin had laid a finger on her “Goddesses of Fortune.” She took it as a personal affront.

“Don’t waste your time talking to him! Call the police now!” Dakota seethed.

“No, wait!” Dahlia interjected. “This might be a misunderstanding. Let’s not escalate things. Why doesn’t Dustin treat Aunt Jane’s illness to make amends?”

“Hmph! We don’t need his help!” Jane spat. “Look at his behavior! What if he makes things worse? Who’ll take responsibility?”

“That works. I have no intention of curing you either,” Dustin said calmly. “Oh, by the way, don’t forget what I said before—headache on the first day, coughing up blood on the second, paralysis on the third, and death on the fourth. Since today is the second day, you’ll soon start coughing up blood. Then you’ll leave your fate in God’s hands.”

“Y-y-you’re a jinx! Stop this nonsense!” Jane trembled with anger, her headache worsening.

“See? Did you hear him? How dare he curse my mom! Arrest him! If you don’t, I’ll hold you accountable!” Dakota barked orders. Florence’s face fell, and she yelled at Dustin, “Dustin Rhys! Apologize to them now! Or I won’t go easy on you!”

Chapter 269

“Apologize? They don’t deserve it,” Dustin chuckled. “If anything, they should apologize to me. Then I might consider saving the mother.”

“Bullshit! Who do you think you are? You’re not qualified to treat my mom!” Dakota retorted.

“Yeah! With our status, we can hire any doctor we want! We don’t need you showing off!” Jane added.

Jane and Dakota were stubborn. In their eyes, an ordinary man like Dustin had no business treating them.

“Hah! Sure, keep being stubborn. I hope you don’t beg me later,” Dustin chuckled, shaking his head.

“Beg you? What a joke!” Jane sneered. “Even if I’m in agony and want to jump off a building, I won’t give in to you!”

“Okay. We shall see.” Dustin left without another word. Dahlia frowned, then hesitated before running after him.

After they left, James brought in an elderly man in a cloak. “Mom! The doctor you requested is here!”

“The doctor? Where is he?” Florence asked urgently.

James gestured to the cloaked man. “This is Dr. Fenton Reyes from Bloomington Medical Center in Stonia. He’s a veteran in his field, and his ancestors were royal physicians! His skills are legendary!”

“Royal physicians?”
