Chapter 94
When Sir Anderson arrived, everyone assumed Dustin was finished. To their surprise, instead of a confrontation, Sir Anderson and Dustin chatted amicably, like old friends.
The Cobra was appalled. Even Florence and the others were stunned.
“This can’t be real, can it? Could he actually know Sir Anderson?”
“My goodness, who is that man? How could he and Sir Anderson be talking like buddies?”
The crowd gossiped in hushed voices, clearly taken aback.
“S-Sir Anderson—you know him?” The Cobra stammered, slightly panicked and at a loss.
Duane’s expression hardened. “Dustin is Natasha’s friend. What gave you the nerve to offend him?”
“Huh? Ms. Harmon’s friend?” The Cobra was terrified.
Natasha Harmon wasn't just one of Swinton's bigwigs; she had the backing of Millburg's aristocracy. She was as prominent as Sir Anderson himself, and fiercely protective of her friends. Anyone who dared offend them faced ruthless retribution.
“Sir Anderson, I—I—” The Cobra stuttered.
Duane waved his hand. “Pack it up and stop being a baby. Apologize to Dustin, and this will be forgotten.”
“Okay, okay…” The Cobra nodded repeatedly and bowed to Dustin. “Mr. Rhys, I’m terribly sorry. I didn’t know who you were and offended you. I hope you’ll forgive me.”
Dustin replied plainly, “You’re exaggerating. As long as there’s no revenge.”
“I wouldn’t dare…” The Cobra wiped his sweat. “From now on, you and your friends will be treated as VIPs. Everything’s on the house!”
His humble apology shocked the crowd. Who would have thought the villainous Cobra would apologize so abjectly?
“Dustin, let’s chat. This way.” Duane gestured towards the second-floor office.
The moment they left, the bar erupted.
“I… I wasn’t seeing things, was I? Did that fool really talk to Sir Anderson like best pals?” James asked incredulously. Sir Anderson, after all, was the Cobra's backer; he could upend Swinton with a flick of his wrist.
Dahlia quickly surmised, “If I’m guessing right, Ms. Harmon must have something to do with their acquaintance.” She’d heard Sir Anderson mention Natasha Harmon; he’d clearly spared Dustin for the Harmon family’s sake.
James nodded fervently. “You must be right! How else could a small fry like him know such a big shot?”
Florence huffed, displeased. “Hmph! I thought he had potential, but it turns out he was just relying on someone else’s influence!”
Dahlia shook her head. “A man should have a spine. How can a man always rely on a woman’s backing? Climbing the ranks by currying favor looks grand, but it’s fleeting.”
Matt’s expression was stormy, his gaze disdainful. Being slapped by the Cobra was bad enough, but Dustin’s newfound glory made him look even more pathetic. He couldn’t accept that a nobody like Dustin had surpassed him.
Meanwhile, in the second-floor office, Dustin sat across from Duane while the Cobra served them.
