Kamille’s POV

As the weekend sunlight streamed through the kitchen windows, casting a warm glow, I came downstairs to find my children already bathed and dressed. We went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast and have some fun. Naturally, I took charge of breakfast preparation.

Soon, the tantalizing aroma of pancakes sizzling on the griddle filled the air, mingling with the rich scent of freshly brewed coffee for me and hot lattes for the kids. I flipped pancakes and poured steaming lattes into cheerful mugs.

"Mom, can I help with the pancakes?" Reon asked eagerly, his eyes shining.

I smiled and nodded. "Of course, Reon," I replied, handing him some napkins. "You can help your siblings."

"Okay, Mummy," he said, distributing napkins to his siblings at the table.

"Mummy, thank you," Tyris said.

"Thank you, Mummy. Do you need help with anything else?" Torin asked, his attention divided between his siblings and me.

I shook my head, smiling fondly. "No, thank you, Torin. Everything's under control."

"Royer, please be seated; breakfast is ready," I called to Royer, who was jumping from seat to seat.

He smiled and ran to his seat. I frowned. "No running around, Royer."

"Sorry, Mummy," he said calmly, settling down and placing his napkin on his lap. I smiled.

Once the pancakes were golden brown, I arranged them on a fine china plate, drizzled them with honey and berries, and placed them before my children, along with their milk. We gathered around the table and ate.

My heart swelled as my children happily devoured their pancakes, their laughter filling the air. This sight never gets old.

"Mummy, will we go out to play today?" Royer asked between bites, his eyes sparkling.

I considered our options. "Well, I was thinking we could have a movie night with pizza and ice cream," I suggested.

They exchanged knowing glances. Torin spoke up, "Can we stay up all night watching cartoons?"

"If you give up your favorite ice cream flavors, then…"

"No, Mummy, we'll sleep when it's time," Royer interrupted.

I smiled. I knew they'd never trade ice cream for sleep.

"It's going to be fun!" Tyris exclaimed. "I can't wait to watch Baby Shark!"

Reon ate calmly, smiling. We finished breakfast in comfortable silence.

A knock echoed through the kitchen. "Alright, kids, go to the living room while I answer the door."

They left. I followed and opened the door to Nanny Dona's smiling face. "Good morning, Nanny Dona," I greeted her warmly.

"Good morning, Miss Kamille," Nanny Dona replied. "I hope I'm not interrupting."

I shook my head. "Not at all. We were just finishing breakfast."

Nanny Dona joined us in the living room, where the children greeted her enthusiastically. "Good morning, Nanny Dona!" they cried.

Nanny Dona greeted them warmly. "Good morning, my darlings."

"Hey, kids," I said. "Nanny Dona has some fun games planned upstairs. Why don't you join her while I take care of a few things?"

The children excitedly ran upstairs with Nanny Dona.

Turning to Nanny Dona, I said, "Thank you. They always have a wonderful time with you."

"It's my pleasure, Kamille," she replied. "I'll make sure they have a fantastic time."

I cleared the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and went upstairs to my room. I sat at my desk, turned on my computer, and began to work on an article for my publishers. However, my focus wavered.

My mind drifted to a video of myself, recent events, and the lawyer's letter. I picked up the letter from my grandmother—a heartwarming sight, yet insufficient. I still awaited the lawyer's response, feeling uneasy. The disbelief washed over me again.

The prospect of confronting the truth and my grandmother's legacy filled me with anticipation and fear. My children had already been involved in the drama, and I wanted to protect them.

I set the letter aside, my thoughts heavy. Meeting the lawyer was the first step to gathering evidence against the Manors.

Zeke would have been a great comfort. "Where the hell did that come from?" I muttered, my heart racing at the thought of him. I returned the letter to its place. I couldn't let him cloud my judgment.

My phone rang, jolting me back to reality. "Was it Zeke?" I wondered. He'd been messaging me, but I didn't want to see him—not yet.

I saw Amanda and Belle's names on the caller ID. Relief flooded me. I answered.

"Hey, Besties," I greeted them warmly.

"Hey, Kam!" they replied.
