Just as Su Chen had settled back into his cultivation, he heard the doorbell ringing outside the courtyard. Given the size of the estate, the sound was quite loud.

Stopping his cultivation, Su Chen walked out of the house and went to the estate's main gate. When he saw who was standing there, he was instantly taken aback. He hadn't expected Xu Xinran to actually come, especially carrying a big bag!

"Why did you come?" Su Chen asked awkwardly, knowing it was already past 11 pm.

"If I didn't come, would I call and ask what you're up to?" Xu Xinran rolled her eyes in annoyance. "So, you're not going to let me in?"

"Oh, sorry." Smiling apologetically, Su Chen quickly opened the gate.

After they walked into the main building, the two sat down on the couch in the living room.

"What brings you here in the middle of the night?" A mischievous smile appeared on Su Chen's face as he looked at Xu Xinran. "You're not actually coming here because the long, lonely night got to you, right?"

"You're the lonely one!" Xu Xinran retorted with a blush, clearly aware of the sleazy thoughts he harbored. Men really are all the same!

"If you're not lonely, why come to my place?" Su Chen genuinely couldn't figure out why she would visit so late.

"Why is your mind so filthy, always thinking such thoughts?" When Xu Xinran first met him, she had a pretty good impression, but now she increasingly felt he wasn't a good person.

"Please, a woman comes over in the middle of the night, what else am I supposed to think?" Su Chen scoffed dismissively, feeling it was obvious—a woman visiting a man in the dead of night clearly indicated her intentions, right? Moreover, the woman was very beautiful, and the man was perfectly normal; anyone would think that way, right?

Upon hearing this, Xu Xinran was momentarily stunned, seemingly realizing that her late-night visit might indeed seem inappropriate. "Anyway, that's not why I came."

Xu Xinran, getting a bit impatient, stood up and said, "I'm going to stay here for a few days. Which room can I use?"

"What? You're staying here for a few days?" Su Chen's eyes widened in genuine surprise. If he had been teasing Xu Xinran earlier, now he was truly astonished! No wonder she brought a big bag—it was her plan to stay.

"Yeah, is that a problem?" Xu Xinran also realized that there was no need to be too polite with this guy. "I'll just stay in the same room I stayed in last time, facing south with good sunlight."

"Suit yourself." Su Chen shrugged, thinking to himself that she was not stupid at all. But since she had already arrived, he obviously couldn't just send her away.

"Do you have anything to eat? I'm hungry." After taking her big bag into the room, Xu Xinran came back out and asked.

"You're not my wife. If you're hungry, cook for yourself; there are noodles in the kitchen." Su Chen flatly refused; this girl really didn't consider herself an outsider.

"Wishful thinking!" Xu Xinran spat out in response, then stood there with a flushed face.

"Aren't you hungry? Why don't you go downstairs and get something?" Su Chen looked at her, as she didn't move, and asked curiously.

"I don't know how." Xu Xinran said, lowering her head and speaking in a tiny, embarrassed voice.

Su Chen was speechless for a moment. He really wanted to ask, how did you survive into your twenties if you can't even cook noodles? Even his wife, Lin Ruoxue, who was a total klutz in daily life, knew how to cook, right?

Su Chen was defeated by this officer Xu, sighed slowly, and then looked at her with a strange expression.

Seeing Su Chen look at her like that, Xu Xinran felt even more embarrassed! Indeed, it was somewhat shameful for a woman in her twenties not to know how to cook noodles. But it wasn't her fault. At home, her parents had taken care of everything; after starting work, she rented with her cousin who knew how to do everything, so she never bothered to learn.

"I have large breasts and a perky butt; there are plenty of people who want to marry me! You don't need to worry about it!" Xu Xinran shot back, fuming.

As the words fell, Su Chen was stunned, unable to believe this fierce statement coming from the policewoman.

"Really? Let's see." Then, a devilish smile curled on Su Chen's lips as he sized up Xu Xinran with his chin in his hand. Admittedly, Xu Xinran's figure was impeccable, just as she had described—curvy and voluptuous!

Feeling Su Chen's intense gaze, Xu Xinran felt flustered, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She had blurted out those words impulsively, simply because she was so irritated by his comment. No sooner had the words left her mouth than she realized they were inappropriate, but it was too late. What was said was like spilled water, impossible to take back.

"Fine, since you have large breasts and a perky butt, I'll help you cook the noodles." Su Chen said dismissively, then headed towards the kitchen. Since Xu Xinran didn't know how, what other choice did he have but to do it himself? But as he was leaving, Su Chen still threw her a look full of meaning.

Xu Xinran knew what that look meant—contempt for a woman who couldn't even cook noodles.

Xu Xinran watched Su Chen's retreating figure, clenched her fist in anger, and vowed to herself that she must learn to cook noodles. She couldn't let him look down on her! Yes, she would start learning tomorrow!

Having made up her mind, Xu Xinran immediately got to work. She sat on the sofa and looked up methods to cook noodles.

The internet was incredibly efficient; it instantly returned numerous ways to cook noodles, which triggered Xu Xinran's choice paralysis, leaving her unsure of which method to learn.

"What are you looking at so intently?" A while later, Su Chen walked over with a large bowl of noodles and set it on the table.

"Nothing." Xu Xinran flusteredly put away her phone, and instantly, a delicious scent wafted over.

"It smells amazing! You finished cooking it so quickly?" Xu Xinran said casually as she sat down at the table.

"It's just noodles, how long could it take?" Su Chen said indifferently, then lit a cigarette. "So, tell me, why did you come over so late?"

He, of course, knew that Xu Xinran hadn't come over just because she was lonely. That was just his way of joking. As for the real reason, he didn't know either. It would have to be Xu Xinran who would tell...
