Chapter 139
“Odalys downplayed everything but kept pointing out the unfolding scene,”
“Yes, you invited me. You asked me to come find you,” Sophia said, seizing on the key point.
She immediately shifted the blame to Odalys, attempting to make it seem like a misunderstanding. Even if something went wrong, it would be Odalys' fault.
But Odalys ignored Sophia and turned to Kafarl. "You know her!" she asked in a low voice.
Rafael straightened as he saw Sophia's attention on him. “Of course. When you all first arrived in the village, she came to borrow food from me.”
“Odalys listened intently, letting out a quiet laugh. “So, she came to you again just now, to borrow more food?”
Rafael paused, quickly shaking his head. “No, she said she’d return what she borrowed last time. Now that she’s here, she must be returning something…”
“But she didn’t bring anything. She’s probably eyeing the food. Since I don’t have a wife, and she came here alone, I guess I’ll just let her be my wife,” Rafael said casually.
Sophia’s face turned pale. Her lips moved; she could hardly believe what she was hearing. “He actually wants me as his wife? I couldn’t care less about the rich guys chasing me, but him as my husband? How dare he!” she thought.
“So, you’re saying she borrowed food and didn’t return it. And tonight, she came to sleep with you as repayment?” Odalys asked in a low voice, seizing on the key point.
Kafarl nodded. “Yeah, more or less.”
“Then, do you know who I am?” Odalys asked again.
Chapter 139
Rafael was confused. He glanced at Odalys. “Who are you? I’ve never seen you before.”
“Exactly. You don’t know me, and I’ve never seen you. So why did she say I framed her and tricked her into coming here to find you? That’s strange, right! So, who’s lying?” Odalys asked.
Odalys wasn’t defending herself. She let Rafael clear things up. Rafael, though a bit sleazy, wouldn’t readily throw people under the bus unless provoked. That’s why Odalys dared to let him speak.
Rafael was furious, feeling embarrassed by Sophia. “Damn it, you dirty woman, are you trying to set me up? You came asking for food, and today you came to return it, but brought nothing. You showed up empty-handed. You’re trying to sell yourself to pay off your debt, and now you want to frame her?”
Sophia was stunned. She hadn’t expected Rafael to reveal she’d borrowed food from him. It seemed she’d forgotten the internet never forgets. Everything was being broadcast, but Sophia instinctively blamed Odalys.
“Did she borrow food from him?” Kenny rubbed his head, asking as if he didn’t know the answer. Although he asked, Kenny was fully aware; as the director, he knew asking these questions would keep the audience intrigued.
“Yes. Yesterday, Group A didn’t go out for food. She came here and borrowed some,” reported a staff member.
Sophia felt she could disappear. She’d only tried to drag Odalys down, but the crew had cleared Odalys’ name. “No, I can’t let this happen. This is too good an opportunity to let Odalys off the hook,” Sophia thought.
“But today, Odalys told me to come here?” Sophia gritted her teeth, stubbornly sticking to her story.
At that moment, Freya stepped forward and kicked Sophia. “Enough! We’ve kept our distance from you. Who’s had contact with you? Odalys has been with us the whole time. She’s never been alone with you!”
Chapter 139
“Besides, our cameraman followed us. We were out for a walk when we saw you sneaking around at night. Now that you can’t get away with your little affair, you’re embarrassed and trying to drag us into it? If you’re lonely and want to sleep with him, just admit it. Why pin it on us?”
Freya spoke plainly, and everyone looked at Sophia with schadenfreude.
Selah stepped forward. “Yeah, we came for a walk to show the village at night. Didn’t expect the most interesting thing to be you. At night, you sneak to his door alone. What else could this be but an affair?” Selah, having severed ties with the company, had nothing to lose.
Sophia stood dumbfounded. She didn’t expect Freya and Selah to defend Odalys. The friendships in the entertainment industry were all fake. Stars looked out for themselves. No one would speak up for someone they didn’t know well. “Are they out of their minds?” Sophia thought.
Stellan spoke. “That’s right. Odalys hasn’t had any contact with Sophia. It’s Sophia repeatedly showing up. Either she’s mooching off us or stealing our work. Tonight, she’s alone, meeting some man. It looks like Ms. Sophia is just lonely and wants everything.”
His words made it clear to everyone. Sophia stood frozen, shocked. She didn’t expect Stellan, usually cold and distant, to step in for Odalys.
Sophia’s voice trembled. “What did I do wrong? Why are they ganging up on me?” she thought.
“Before you slander someone, make sure your own hands are clean. Are you still sure I tricked you into coming here?” Odalys asked in a low, calm voice, with a subtle threat.
Chapter 139
Sophia froze in panic. The image of that day in the hospital flashed in her mind. Odalys had somehow made Sophia speak her innermost thoughts.
Sophia took a step back, flustered, not daring to meet Odalys’ eyes.
Odalys’ voice grew cold. “Are you guilty or scared? Sophia, you’re used to framing others. That instinct to throw dirt without thinking…you’d better change that habit. Otherwise, it will bite you. Do you still dare to insist it’s me? If you do, let’s settle this in front of everyone. We’ll let everyone know exactly what kind of person you are, and how many times you’ve framed me.”
Sophia gasped, her face pale with fear. She’d done so many bad things she’d forgotten how many times she’d tried to harm Odalys. The more wrong she’d done, the less she could face the truth.
“If you don’t apologize, I’ll have to ask. For example, the night I first returned to Crownridge, seven months ago,” Odalys said quietly.
At those words, Sophia’s face turned pale, and she immediately shouted, “Shut up!”
