Chapter 193

In an instant, everyone's attention turned to the Oluward City Police Department. Anticipation for the next day's livestream grew palpable as everyone awaited news about Obaly's claims. The Bennett family, however, remained oblivious to the brewing storm. They believed they could use Odalys—whose contract was about to expire—to force her into renewing it. They even planned to manipulate her into helping them by linking her to the Stewart family.

What they didn't realize was that Odalys had already thwarted their plans. After finishing her work, Odalys noticed Atlas and Sophia looking uncomfortable. Raising an eyebrow, she playfully smirked and asked, "I just revealed my past—why are you both so uncomfortable? Could it be that you were planning to use my background against me?"

Atlas felt heartbroken and deeply troubled. He had heard Henry mention that if the Stewarts noticed Odalys, the Bennetts might exploit her connection for their benefit. He now realized that any chance of reconciliation with Odalys was utterly destroyed, and the future of the Bennett family felt like it was slipping away.

"Atlas, I'm in pain..." she murmured, clinging to him and leaning against him, trying to hide the hatred in her eyes.

Atlas helped her back to their residence. After settling her in bed, he left without a word, giving Sophia no opportunity to speak.

"Odalys, you bitch. You've ruined everything for me," Sophia muttered, clenching her fists. She hadn't expected Freya to foil her plans, but Odalys had taken everything. For now, she could only comfort herself with the thought, "Once tomorrow comes, things will be better. With Henry's help, we can use the contract issue to get rid of Odalys once and for all."

Meanwhile, Freya ran to Odalys, embracing her. "Odalys, you'll always have me. From now on, my family is your family. You saved me, and you've been so good to me. If the Bennett family tries anything, I'll stand by you, no matter what," Freya whispered, burying her face in Odalys' chest.

"Thank you," Odalys smiled, touched by Freya's words.

Stella and Selah approached, followed by Francis.

"Your contract ends tomorrow?" Stella asked.

Odalys nodded, her voice low. "Yes, it ends tomorrow, and I'm not renewing it. After tomorrow, the Bennett Group and I will have no further ties."

Just as she said that, Adas emerged from the room. Hearing her words, he felt a deep unease. Was she really so eager to sever ties with her family? They were her relatives, her flesh and blood—why was she so desperate to cut them off?

Meanwhile, Finnian stood stunned, unable to take his eyes off Odalys. He had once considered approaching her, like Francis, but now realized he no longer had the right. Listening to her, he felt sick remembering his closeness to Sophia and their attempts to undermine Odalys. He was horrified by his past actions and found them impossible to face.

"Since you're not renewing, the Bennett Group won't be able to control you anymore," Stella nodded approvingly. "Making your clarification public like this, so the Bennett Group can't exploit it for publicity, is the right move."

In the entertainment industry, contracts were terrifying. Many artists found their contracts indefinitely extended, trapped by companies using blackmail and forced agreements to keep them in line. Victims were often too afraid to speak out. Odalys was the first artist to be so upfront and resolute.

"I know, but it's still important to clarify," Odalys murmured. "We don't want the public misled by misinformation." She had anticipated this moment from the start, when she agreed to join the variety show. Everything was going according to plan.

"Well then, how about we make some delicious food and celebrate?" Freya suggested eagerly. "After all, once we go back tomorrow, who knows when we'll all be able to meet again."

"I think that's a great idea!" Selah quickly agreed.

Odalys looked at Selah with an inscrutable gaze. "What about you? Since your contract ends after this show, are you not renewing either?"

Selah hadn't expected Odalys to bring up her contract. "Yes, I promised to end it after this variety show. I have to pay a penalty for breaching the contract, but I'm not renewing it. Everything is settled; I've signed the papers," Selah quickly explained.

Odalys asked Selah to show her the signed contract photos on her phone, just as she had done with her own contract. She encouraged Selah to share this with the viewers.

"I'm also ending my cooperation with the company. If there's a chance, I hope we'll meet again on screen in the future," Selah said. She had always loved acting, but the company only used her for supporting roles. "Good. Then I salute your decision," Odalys said with a smile.

The others agreed that it was worth celebrating, and began preparing food with Selah. But Odalys stood watching Selah, her mind far away.

In her past life, on the day she died, she had seen news of Selah's death. Already suffering from severe depression, the news of Selah's tragic death—reportedly being lured to a company dinner, only to be locked in a room with a dozen men—crushed her. Selah's body was torn apart, covered in injuries, and she bled heavily. After the men left, she took her own life. The hotel cleaning staff found her, and the scene was horrific. The news went viral.

On the day Odalys was forced into the arranged marriage, she had seen the news of Selah's death and couldn't bear it. As the Bennett family forced her to strip for a recording, the vivid memory of Selah's demise overwhelmed her. Feeling a deep sense of injustice, she jumped off a building.

Perhaps it was because of this shared fate that she felt a strange connection to Selah. In this new life, the trajectory seemed to change. Now, Selah was safe and avoided that fatal dinner. Instead, they met on the variety show. This was also why, on the island, Odalys had helped Selah get Lucian jailed; Lucian was Selah's nemesis. This time, Selah had avoided her fate.

It seemed like everything had changed. Watching Selah join the group, carrying food and gathering ingredients, Odalys smiled. Things were different now.

"Wait for me! I'm coming too!" Odalys called out as she hurried to catch up with Selah.
