Chapter 288
Harvey Tillery nervously swallowed, his voice low. "I'm not sure if my daughter is possessed, but every night she gets up and brushes her hair in front of a mirror. No matter how much we call her, she just keeps brushing and smiling. We took the mirrors away, and she went crazy, searching everywhere for them. She even started hurting herself. Last night, we had to tie her up with ropes, and she tried to jump out the window. We've even had several masters examine her, and they all said she's possessed. But whenever a master is present, she's fine; the moment they leave, she goes back to acting like this. Yesterday, she even stabbed one," he said, his face filled with anguish.
He didn't understand why his daughter had changed. She had always been well-mannered, intelligent, and diligentโsomeone anyone would be proud of. But lately, she felt like a completely different person.
"Do you have any pictures of her? Let me see," Odalys asked softly.
Harvey immediately pulled out his phone and opened his photo album. "This is a photo of her from before. She was always a smart girl, skilled in music and painting. She was the pride of our family," he said, showing Odalys a picture. "And this is a more recent photo."
Odalys examined the photos; her fingers stiffened.
"Ms. Stone, can you tell what's going on? Is there any hope for my daughter?" Harvey asked nervously.
Odalys remained silent for a moment, then looked at him intently. "Mr. Tillery"
"Yes, I am Harvey Tillery," he nodded eagerly.
"The four great familiesโฆ Stewart, Lark, Tillery, and Drake," Odalys murmured. "Prominent families ranking high on the wealth list." Percival's father had died, the Lark family seemed stable for now, Dangelo had nearly died in a car accident and now had cancer, and now the Tillery family's most successful daughter seemed cursed. "Interesting," Odalys mused, "it seems the wealthy families are being targeted one by one."
"What?" Harvey asked, confused.
Odalys handed back the phone, then pulled out a talisman, folded it, and gave it to him. "Take this talisman and place it under her pillow when you get home." She added, "This is my phone number. If anything happens, call me, or add me on WhatsApp."
Harvey quickly wrote down her number and added her on WhatsApp. As he took the talisman, his unease lessened. It felt soothing.
Odalys noticed him about to send money. "You don't need to send me any money," she said.
Harvey was stunned. "Ms. Stone, you examined my daughter's condition and gave us a talisman. Normally, we would pay for thisโat least several million," he explained. He wasn't stingy; he'd pay what he owed.
Odalys stood up, meeting his gaze. "My rule is simple: a trade of resources. If your family has connections in the entertainment industry, or needs advertising or endorsements, you can offer me opportunities. This is a free reading. Even without an exchange of resources, I'm fine with offering it. I don't need a lot of money."
Helping others was her responsibility. While Stellan and Francis had given her money before, she accepted it not out of greed, but because it was an exchange for resources they would need in the futureโthey just didn't know it yet.
"Alright, I understand," Harvey chuckled hoarsely. He couldn't believe she didn't want money. He carefully placed the talisman in his bag. "Masters in your circle charge at least several million. I've sought out several before; whether they could help or not, they always collected their fees first," he sighed.
Odalys smiled. If magicians only sought money, the world would be in chaos. Saving people was their responsibility.
"Then I'll head back now," Harvey said, hurrying away. Odalys watched him, noticing a dark aura surrounding him. She remained where she was until his car disappeared.
Returning to her shop, she raised her hand, and everything shifted. "Don't worry, I will stand firm here. I will carry out the will of Heaven and do good deeds to accumulate virtue," she whispered to her master. A faint voice echoed from the snow-capped mountains: "Good." The voice reverberated through the shop. Odalys blinked, composed. Everything was real, and her master had heard her.
After receiving the response, Odalys went outside to find a crowd with tickets, waiting their turn.
A tall woman in sunglasses approached. "Can you tell me about my love life?" She smelled of expensive perfume, wore high-end clothing and millions of dollars worth of jewelry, and looked down at Odalys with arrogance.
"No need. You won't get divorced," Odalys said without looking up.
The woman froze, shocked. "Aren't you supposed to use my birth date? You didn't even ask for it!"
Odalys finally looked up, smiling. "You and your husband have already agreed to divorce because you want to. You think you married the wrong person," Odalys said softly.
"Give me your hand," Odalys instructed.
The woman hesitated, then extended her hand. A burning sensation shot through her fingertips as if something entered her body. She tried to pull away but an unseen force yanked her, pulling her into a strange sensation.
"Ah!" she screamed as Odalys pushed her, sending her back to a memory of her youth, standing at her school entrance. The rain poured heavily, and a car sped towards her.
