Chapter 293

“You want to control Freya with drugs, and now you’re blocking me again. Don’t tell me you’re planning the same trick? But you don’t seem to be a match for me,” Odalys said, lowering her voice.

Edie, her face delicately made up, looked haggard. No one had ever dared to be so brazen with her. Since marrying into the Stewart family, everyone had treated her with utmost respect. But ever since Odalys arrived, even Evander dared to lay hands on her, even throwing bricks.

Odalys was her nemesis, her worst enemy. Edie had known from the beginning that Odalys was formidable, and living in Crownridge would bring her bad luck. That's why she’d asked the Bennetts to get rid of her. Yet, here Odalys was, back after all these years.

As soon as Odalys finished speaking, she grabbed Edie’s wrist. Edie screamed, feeling a sharp pain as Odalys pulled a syringe filled with a drug from her bag.

“Are you addicted? Need another shot?” Odalys asked softly, holding the syringe and moving closer, pushing Edie backward.

“Enough. I came here to ask you one thing,” Edie said, her back against a tree, her expression cold.

Odalys stared back silently.

“Is Percival really dead? Or was it a fake death to deceive everyone?” Edie asked in a low voice. Something felt wrong about Percival’s death. Aside from the Stewart family’s initial mourning, there had been no further action. Then, they’d cast her out.

Now, the Stewarts had cut her off, making her life a struggle. And this, she knew, was just the beginning.

“Boring,” Odalys replied, turning to leave.

Edie grabbed her arm. “Odalys, take me back to the Stewart Villa. Even if Percival is dead, let me pray for him. He’s my son,” Edie pleaded.

But Odalys saw the calculation in her eyes.

“What are you planning?” Odalys leaned against her car, idly fiddling with the syringe, asking casually.

Edie was furious, wanting to scratch Odalys’s face, but she could only endure. “You married into the Stewart family for their wealth, didn’t you?” she said.

Odalys raised an eyebrow. “What, you want a share of the wealth?”

“No, the money is yours. I just want the Stewart Villa and mansion,” Edie said urgently.

Odalys was surprised. Seeing this, Edie continued, “Those two houses aren’t worth much compared to the family’s wealth.”

“So, the houses are mine, and the money and company are yours,” Edie pressed.

Odalys was even more confused. “But Evander is involved. I doubt the west is for you and me to decide,” Odalys said, feigning confusion.

Edie’s face twisted with rage. “He’s an old fool. If you’re willing to help me get inside, I have a way to make him die quietly.”

Odalys fell silent. “Give me some time to think,” she said. Edie, noticing Odalys’s reaction, regained her arrogance.

She straightened, sneered, and said, “I’ll give you one day. Tomorrow, at this time, I’ll call you. If you agree, we meet here. I’ll handle everything. You just need to cooperate and get me inside safely.”

“Alright,” Odalys responded quietly.

Edie strode away, shooting a contemptuous glance at Odalys. Odalys watched as Edie got into a black sedan that sped off.

‘She’s telling me her plan so easily?’ Odalys furrowed her brow. She’d sensed Edie wasn’t a fool, but since their first meeting, Edie had seemed incredibly foolish, unlike what she’d imagined. She couldn’t place what was different.

“What are you thinking about?” Percival’s pleasant voice broke the silence.

Odalys jumped. Percival had arrived. His car was parked nearby.

“I think your mother is strange. Earlier, she blocked me just to discuss cooperating with me,” Odalys said frankly. She felt no need to hide anything from Percival.

“Cooperate?” Percival’s eyes flickered with confusion.

Odalys showed him the syringe. “This is what she prepared for me. If I didn’t cooperate, she probably planned to inject me, like she did to Freya last night.”

“Fortunately, I was quick,” Odalys said with a smile. “With such tactics, how could she dare act so violently?”

She continued, “She wants to conspire with me to get into the Stewart Villa. She plans to go after Mr. Stewart. Afterward, she’ll give me all the family’s wealth, while she takes the Villa and mansion.”

“She only wants those two houses. Could it be that she’s after the family’s energy field?”

“Also, she’s been acting oddly. From the night she came to test your situation, to last night’s attack on Freya, and now this.”

“Every move feels off. She doesn’t seem like a fool, but her actions are foolish. I can’t tell if she’s deliberately confusing us, or if something else is going on.” Odalys fell into deep thought. Her actions didn’t seem like those of a cunning woman.

“That’s true. My grandfather mentioned she’s been acting strangely for six months, often not coming home, sometimes staying away for weeks,” Percival said in a low voice. He, too, found something amiss.

“Have you had anyone follow her? Or tested her?” Odalys asked.

Percival nodded slightly. He stood before her, his tall frame blocking the sun. “We’ve tested and followed her. We even took samples of her hair for examination to confirm it was her.”
