Chapter 310

Selah felt that no TV show or novel could top this drama.

"Yes," Odalys replied. Francis's fork clattered onto the table. "Yet, Henry still sleeps with her?" he asked incredulously.

It sounded unbelievable, almost impossible to imagine. Getting together with his mother's friend and then being caught in bed by his sister was a scene so awkward it was hard to believe.

"The Stewart family benefits from this," Odalys pointed out. "Otherwise, with the Bennett family's current state, they would have gone bankrupt long ago. They've been surviving because Henry has someone backing him."

Stellan took a sip of beer, his fingers tightening around his fork. He concluded, "It seems the Bennett family's secrets run deeper than we imagined! Henry is willing to sell his body for the company, while Sophia is willing to sell hers for a love spell to get back at you."

"It seems that, apart from Odalys, no one in the Bennett family is normal."

Suddenly, a few knocks came on the door, instantly silencing the private room. Everyone turned to look.

"Who is it?" Francis stood up quickly.

A deep voice came from outside: "Excuse me, is Mrs. Stewart here? I am Lee Hersey."

Hearing the familiar voice, Odalys nodded, and Francis opened the door. Lee walked towards her. "Sorry to disturb you," he said. "I happened to see you come in as I passed by."

Seeing Lee, Odalys's expression turned serious. "You're in danger," she said suddenly.

Her words instantly silenced the room. Everyone looked at Lee. His dignified demeanor commanded attention.

Francis gestured for him to sit, but Lee shook his head. "There's something I'd like to ask Mrs. Stewart for help with," he said. He stepped forward with a stack of documents, handed them to Odalys, and said in a low voice, "I heard you're good at reading faces. I have some photos here. Could you tell me which of these people might be related to the case?"

Many lives were at stake; any further delay would be disastrous. The police officers were eager to solve the case, but the bodies had been specially treated, making further investigation difficult.

"You don't have to show them to me! I'll go with you right now," Odalys said quietly.

She rose slowly. Seeing this, Freya and Selah immediately called for the waiter to pack their food. They followed Lee out. As he opened the car door, he felt a chill on his hand and turned to see Odalys placing a leaf on it. He recognized it as a pomelo leaf. Folklore held that pomelo leaves could ward off evil spirits. It was unexpected that Odalys would give him one. Lee subconsciously took the leaf.

She said nothing, but turned and walked towards Stellan's car.

"Are you going back, or?" Odalys asked quietly.

"No, we'll go with you," they all said at once.

Chapter 10

Returning to the apartment, there was little to do. They had signed the contract that day, and everyone was in a good mood. Knowing Odalys was willing to investigate, they anticipated something exciting.

"Okay, follow me," Odalys whispered.

Stellan started the car and followed Lee's. The two cars bypassed the bustling city and sped towards the suburbs.

The midnight suburbs were quiet, the road empty. Lee was on high alert. As he was about to turn, he saw a shadow rushing towards him. He instinctively turned the wheel and heard a loud crash. The car hit a rock.

He slammed on the brakes, and the airbags deployed. His body lurched forward. At that moment, he felt an itch in his palm, and a wave of heat washed over him. The heat enveloped him. He was thrown forward, seeing the windshield shatter, glass flying towards him.

Lee tried to dodge, but the impact prevented him. His heart pounded. He watched the shard of glass approach. Then, the leaf in his hand sprang out, deflecting the shard.

Lee grunted, bouncing back into his seat. He coughed repeatedly. The front of the car was smoking; the airbags had deployed. His hand was cut by the glass.

His eyes fixed on the spot where the glass had been, then on the leaf that had fallen a short distance away, pinning several shards of glass beneath it.

Lee's heart pounded. He got out of the car and stood there, the surreal scene almost unbelievable. If he hadn't experienced it, he wouldn't have believed it.

"Lee, are you okay!" Francis quickly jumped out and ran towards him.

Lee stood there, a complicated look in his eyes. He slowly turned and looked at Odalys. His lips moved, as if he wanted to speak, but couldn't.

"I'm fine," Lee said hoarsely.

Freya and Selah got out of the car and looked at the wrecked vehicle. Their eyes fell on the scratch on his hand.

"Odalys, his hand is bleeding, and his car is wrecked! He really was in danger!" Selah said in shock. She knew Odalys was powerful, but was still shocked to see her prediction come true.

"Odalys, isn't that the leaf you put on his hand?" Freya pointed to the bloodstained leaf on the ground.

Odalys watched Lee's face, which shifted from shock to bewilderment.

"Thank you for this," Lee said quietly. He was the only one who knew what had happened. If not for the heat, if not for the leaf, he would have been thrown from the car. The glass would have pierced his forehead. He knew he would have died. He was a veteran police officer, experienced in such matters.

"You're an upright person, and you've done a lot of good deeds. You shouldn't die like this," Odalys said softly.

Lee's Adam's apple bobbed. He retrieved his phone and made a call. Then, he walked to Odalys, stood before her, and looked at her. Although young, she seemed to radiate immense energy.

"If I hadn't gone to you tonight, would I be dead?" Lee asked.
