Chapter 338

Evander watched Dorian flee, then picked up a plate of fruit and gave it to Odalys. She took it, speared a piece with a skewer, and ate it.

"Was room 878 special?" Percival asked, his voice gravelly.

Odalys fell silent. His question hung in the air. Room 175 had been sealed off; the police hadn't searched it. She knew something was being covered up. Later, she realized Percival had helped her manage the situation.

"Do you believe in time travel or alternate timelines?" Odalys suddenly asked.

Evander and Percival exchanged glances before sitting on the sofa, their gazes fixed on her, clearly unprepared for the question.

"What do you mean?" Percival pressed.

Odalys idly twirled the skewer between her fingers. "I saw what would happen to Selah," she said. "From the moment we started filming the reality show, I kept her close, giving her the chance to break free from Lucian. We have a connection, and room 878 in that hotel is crucial to her."

She continued, "Selah died in room 171. Her death mirrored Lucian's today. She was assaulted by a group of men, leaving her physically damaged and humiliated. Unable to bear the shame, she hanged herself in room 878. That's why she felt uneasy near room 175 today. Sensing this, I helped her by taking her inside with me, closing a karmic loop," Odalys explained. "Breaking the chains would free Selah from her haunting nightmares."

Odalys hadn't mentioned this when they shared a room during the reality show, but she'd always known Selah was troubled by memories from a previous lifetime. Red Star Entertainment hadn't even cleaned up today's mess before their boss was taken away. The speed of it all made it clear someone had planned this, aiming directly at them.

"Since he harmed others, it was fitting he fall during such a high-profile moment. Better now than letting him hurt more people in the future," Odalys said coldly. "I'm willing to help those who are in need."

"Well done," Evander exclaimed, slapping his thigh. "I support your kind heart. Let me make you some stronger coffee," he added, turning to leave. Before going to the kitchen, he glanced at Percival, a look of disappointment on his face. Evander appeared upright, nearly humorless.

"Perhapsmore sympathetic and less serious all the time," Evander muttered before heading to the kitchen. Percival sniffed sharply.

"A delicate fare?" Dorian questioned slightly, his husky voice a low murmur. "Can you show me what happened to me in the previous timeline?"

"What?" Odalys was stunned. She'd expected something serious, not past lives. Thinking of the fabricated nonsense she’d just spun, Odalys felt awkward.

"Is it that you can't see it, or aren't allowed to be seen?" Percival asked, intrigued by her discomfort.

Odalys propped her chin on her hand, looking into the deep, cold gleam in his eyes. "How about tonight?" she suggested with a raised eyebrow. She was curious about Percival's past. If she guessed correctly, given the severe poisoning and his body's eventual resistance to treatment, he must have died violently.

"Alright," Percival nodded without suspicion.

Callum entered, leaned close to Percival, and whispered something. Percival frowned slightly, then said, "Understood."

"I'm heading out," Callum said, turning and walking away briskly.

In the kitchen, Dorian and Evander were busy. Soon, they emerged with dishes, while servants set the table. "Odalys, come," Evander beckoned.

After a long day, Odalys was famished. The aroma of the food made her stomach growl, and she quickly washed her hands. Percival served her half a bowl of soup. Without looking back, he heard her approach and pulled out a chair, placing the soup before her.

"Have some soup first," Percival said hoarsely.

Evander and Dorian exchanged a glance as she sipped the soup. Then Evander groaned. Dorian rushed to his side. "What's wrong?"

"My back hurts. Help me upstairs," Evander said.

Odalys was about to get up. "No need, I'm fine. You all eat. I'll rest. Dorian, make me something later," Evander said, waving her off as he was helped upstairs.

Odalys watched, confused. Without checking his pulse, she could tell from his complexion nothing was seriously wrong.

"Your grandfather looks healthy. He doesn't seem like someone with back pain," she remarked.

Percival's expression grew complicated. As they turned a corner, Evander suddenly sped up the stairs, Dorian chasing after him. This was no backache; Evander clearly didn't want to eat with them.

"He's just like that. Don't mind him," Percival said.

Odalys's attention shifted back to the table, laden with her favorite dishes. She began eating; Percival ate little, mostly adding food to her plate.

Half an hour later, she finished. "After your bath, meet me in the study," Odalys said, standing.

Percival immediately put down his utensils and followed her.

The servants quickly cleaned up. Changing into a white casual outfit, Odalys retrieved an item from her bag and made her way to the study. By the time she finished her bath, it was 7 pm.
