Chapter 366
Odalys sipped her drink. (Diche, a relative of Cilalyst) Then, Ember, one of Dalys’s friends, suddenly climbed a fence outside City Hall and was injured. Should I call an ambulance? Odalys bombarded Stellan with questions. Would Stellan help him up? If he does, will… She quietly added, "(Stellan, if you love the money, help him. After all, the Hennett family is short on cash right now.)"
"Looks like he broke the rules," Odalys remarked.
Kilian stared at Odalys's message, hesitated, and quickly grabbed his belongings before rushing out, worried he might be found by W—still in the hospital, especially his father who had cancer. He clearly had no time for petty matters. Plus, Windsor was Odalys's father, and he was probably terrible to her. Otherwise, Odalys wouldn't have been treated so horribly.
"What rules?" Selah asked, her voice rising in frustration.
As days went on, Percival was driving, taking a detour. Odalys sat in the passenger seat. They had left the neighborhood after saving a child and were heading to meet Stellan and the others before going to the Film Capital. Now they were just across from City Hall.
"What are you smiling at?" Percival asked, noticing Odalys's smile in the rearview mirror.
Odalys curved into a slight grin, her expression light and amused. Her smile seemed to lift Percival's mood as well.
"Windsor's about to get into big trouble," Odalys said, her tone filled with quiet satisfaction. "Stellan saw him fall outside City Hall. Looks like Windsor's hurt and bleeding, and he was holding a divorce certificate."
"I didn't respect him to divorce Hannah."
Though Odalys didn't want to get involved in the Hennett family's matters, when she saw Stellan's message, she couldn't help but open the photo. She passed the phone to Percival. In the car, he glanced at the screen.
"Besides getting stuck with Sophia's bad luck, what else is in store for him?" Percival asked in a low voice.
Odalys propped her chin up and glared at the photo of Windsor. "Getting stuck with bad luck means Sophia successfully borrowed his fortune. He's a completely different man from yesterday. He probably doesn't even realize it. He's hurt right after getting divorced. The drama's only just beginning. Though I didn't expect him to go so far…"
"Usually, when someone is having an affair, they try to hide it from their spouse."
"But Windsor and Sophia probably flaunted their affair openly, and that's how Hannah caught them. Otherwise, there's no way Hannah…"
They'd been married for years, and there was never any talk of divorce, but this time, it was different. Hannah was certainly brave, for she'd never considered leaving the Hennett family. This time, it seemed she had made a big decision to end the…
"By the way, keep an eye on…" Percival turned as he was helping Hans with VIP parking.
They drove past City Hall. They looked over and saw Windsor lying on the ground. A security guard had come and… He was unsteady; his shirt was stained with blood. He could no longer keep himself steady.
"Someone help?" The security guard, startled, immediately called for an ambulance.
After making the call, the security guard helped Windsor to the side to wait. Inside City Hall, a figure emerged. Henry, dressed in a white shirt, walked out.
"Percival, look!" Odalys exclaimed, her voice full of disbelief.
She stared at the scene in front of her, her eyes widening in shock. Only moments ago, Odalys had warned Percival to keep an eye on Edie. She hadn't expected things to move so quickly. Now, Edie and Henry were standing right outside City Hall.
"Hab…" Percival, holding his phone, was about to take a call. He instinctively looked up, following Odalys's cue.
Edie was wearing light makeup, which couldn't hide her recent exhaustion. Yet, she still wore a bright smile as she held onto Henry's arm. Both of them were holding a marriage license. Percival's fingers instinctively tightened around his phone.
Odalys, still in shock, muttered, "I was just about to say that since Windsor and Hannah are divorced, the Bennett family is bound to have another happy event. I wanted you to keep an eye on Edie. I didn't expect them to act this quickly."
"These two actually went and got a marriage license? The Bennett family is in chaos, and they still have the nerve to get married?" Odalys was stunned by how outrageous their actions were.
Ignoring public opinion and rumors, they went ahead with a flashy marriage. It was far beyond Odalys's expectations.
"The Bennett family always has one bad thing, then another happy event! So what's next for the Bennett family?" Percival asked in a low voice.
Although Percival harbored a deep grudge against Edie, he still cared about her. Seeing her and Henry walking out of City Hall, his grip on his phone tightened, his emotions stirred by the sight. After all, she was his mother, and Percival couldn't just ignore her.
"They will have a disaster," Odalys said coldly. "If they hadn't gotten married, the Bennett family wouldn't be in such dire straits. But with a divorce and another marriage, a disaster is certain to follow." A man who couldn't control his desires was beyond saving.
Odalys spoke quietly, analyzing the situation. "Henry, even in these circumstances, his stance is clear. Henry had no way out. He chose to join forces with Edie, marrying her. It's probably because, after Windsor made his…"
"Even if she's kicked out, Edie is your biological mother. Plus, she has the backing of the Simpson family. Henry likely thinks that by aligning with Edie, he can find a way to turn things around."
Before Odalys could finish, Windsor, still standing to the side, stared at them.
"Henry, what are you doing?" Windsor winced in pain, clutching his chest as he strode forward. He grabbed the marriage license from their hands and, upon seeing what it was, his face… Windsor wasn't ready to give up yet. He flipped through the papers carefully, confirming that they had actually married.
With a loud bang, Windsor forcefully slapped the marriage license across Henry's face, shouting at him, "Are you trying to make me lose my mind?"
Before he could finish, he collapsed to the ground.
"Dad!" Henry, who had initially wanted to argue with him, rushed over when he saw what happened. Just then, the ambulance arrived.
The doctor examined Windsor's wound and said, "Fragments of stone have embedded in his body. We're not sure if they've pierced any internal organs. We need to get him to the hospital immediately."
The doctor hurried Windsor away, but Henry didn't follow him into the ambulance. Edie tugged at Henry's arm, looking up at him. They exchanged a brief glance before both walked toward the Maybach. As Edie reached the car, she knocked on the window. Percival rolled the window down, and Edie took off her sunglasses, meeting his gaze.
"I'm married," Edie said, her face, which had recently aged from neglect, now carrying an air of haughty pride.
