Chapter 383
The police officer, initially intending to use Sophia as leverage, recoiled in shock as she tore off her clothes, exposing her naked body. Even as police officers, they dared not touch her carelessly; any misstep would cost them their jobs.
Murmurs rippled through the crowd. "Seriously? How could Odalys possibly curse her?" one person whispered. "She really does look off, though," another added.
Blossom was about to intervene, worried Odalys might be implicated, when Odalys grabbed her arm. Celeste, witnessing the scene, felt even more hatred for Sophia. Had there been fewer people, Celeste would have slapped Sophia. She'd never encountered such a shameless woman.
Harvey stepped forward, saying, "Ms. Stone, perhaps you should leave. Let me handle this. She's clearly targeting you." Since Odalys had saved his daughter, the Tillery family felt indebted to her, and Harvey wouldn't let Sophia get away with this.
"No need," Odalys replied, shaking her head. She watched Sophia scream like a madwoman. Sophia, seeing Odalys's composure, instinctively recoiled as if from a plague carrier.
Sophia, her reputation already ruined, cared only about bringing Odalys down. The adoration Odalys received fueled Sophia's bitterness. All this should have been mine, she thought.
When their eyes met, the coldness in Odalys's gaze suffocated Sophia. Odalys stood tall, looking down with an air of superiority. "I'll ask you again," Odalys said, her voice indifferent yet forceful. "Are you sure I cursed you?"
Sophia panicked, her gaze darting around. She then straightened, charged at Odalys, and yelled, "Yes, it was you!" The moment her hands touched Odalys, Sophia recoiled. Her eyes widened, and she cried out, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be acting this way! I framed you to get out of this! I had no choice! Only I deserve to be the Bennett family's daughter! I've found a way to get rid of you. The Hennen family worships me—all thanks to the dirt I threw on you! Today, I'll show everyone your true colors. I framed Blossom, that's why the Tillery family gave me money and resources. You think you can challenge me? You're nothing! If I hadn't teamed up with Finnian to destroy you, you wouldn't have married into a wealthy family! Now I'm interested in your husband, so step aside!"
Sophia's voice grew louder and more frantic. She covered her mouth, but the words continued to pour out. "Odalys, who do you think you are? Don't think because you're powerful you're untouchable. I know plenty of ways to ruin you!" Silence fell over the scene.
The crowd stared, even the police officers' faces paling. Sophia's infamy had reached even them. They witnessed her blatant lies and malicious slander.
Panicked, Sophia cried, "No, it's not me! Odalys is controlling me! She has a talisman! Arrest her!" Her mind went blank, reminiscent of the hospital incident where she'd revealed damaging information. She collapsed.
Harvey's face went ashen. He'd never encountered such a shameless woman. He would be the first to oppose the police arresting Odalys.
Percival stood at a distance, arms crossed, his gaze cold and dangerous, fixed on Sophia. Sophia was speechless, overwhelmed by the dangerous feeling emanating from him. Their eyes locked, and it felt like her mind exploded. Percival's fury was palpable, as if he were about to kill her.
The police officers restrained Sophia. "Ms. Bennett," an officer said coldly, "you're accused of making a false report, public slander, fabricating stories, and disturbing the peace. Come with us."
Sophia collapsed. Percival approached, his chilling aura freezing Sophia with fear. She tried to speak, but couldn't. He glanced over her shoulder. Sophia saw a speeding motorcycle heading straight for her.
"No, no!" she screamed.
The officers reacted instinctively as the motorcycle slammed into Sophia, sending her flying. The impact was deafening. Sophia lay there, the motorcycle crushing her. A mirror from the bike shattered against her face, nearly deforming it. A piece of metal lodged in her cheek.
"Ah, it hurts!" she screamed, but no one helped. Not even the police.
