Chapter 406

"He tried to help her, exposing the Simpson family's connections in the process, which allowed Lee to eliminate their people," Percival said. "Other than vouching for Edie, he didn't contact anyone. He's been holed up in his study, refusing to speak with anyone from the Simpson family."

"My uncle, Quinton, is involved," Percival said firmly. He knew Quinton well. The man always craved attention, flaunting his relationship with the Stewart family, hosting parties to network, and striving for social status. But now, he was unusually low-key, raising suspicions.

"When Windsor returned, he immediately slept with Sophia and divorced Hannah. But Quinton—he's acting completely differently, staying locked in his study. It doesn't add up."

"That's what's bothering me," Percival continued. "Windsor broke his vow, but the current situation seems different."

"Could Windsor and Quinton, after three years abroad together, have switched places? They might have retained some of their original identities, explaining Windsor's immediate pursuit of Sophia."

"In other words, did the Simpson family want to get rid of Windsor because of Sophia?"

"It's like when Sophia was a child—after they tortured her, altered her face, and sent her to the Bennetts to replace me as their daughter."

"Sophia might be the key," Odalys said, her voice trembling. The more she considered it, the more plausible the theory became. It was disturbingly so.

"So, Sophia is key," Percival asked. "My sources say Windsor used his connections to meet Finnian at the hospital tonight, and they both saw Sophia."

"They even had relations in the hospital room," Percival added, his expression stiffening. He gripped his phone, his fingers tense. Discussing this with a twenty-year-old woman made him uncomfortable. His face flushed, and he turned away to hide it.

"Assuming Quinton lured Windsor abroad for three years, Windsor might possess something they want."

"Or maybe they need to get rid of Windsor," Odalys suggested. The more she analyzed it, the more solid her suspicions felt.

"I'm keeping my people on them," Percival said. He called Callum, instructing him to watch Windsor and Finnian. He wanted to know their next move after leaving the hospital. Once the call ended, an uneasy silence fell over the car. Odalys fidgeted, lost in thought.

"I have something on Finnian," Odalys said suddenly. "Remember that surgery I performed? If he touches water, his body will rot and kill him. We'll ensure he can't leave the hospital. As soon as it rains, he'll be trapped inside."

"Then Windsor will be alone. We can see if he returns to the Bennett Villa or goes elsewhere." Her excitement was evident. She quickly drew a talisman on a piece of paper, sprinkling it with magic dust. The lines came alive instantly. She rolled down the window, muttered a few words, and tossed the talisman into the sky. The dark clouds above rumbled ominously.

At that moment, Windsor and Finnian emerged from the hospital, heading outside. The rain poured down.

Chapter 406 (Continued)

Finnian, about to step outside, froze in fear. He recoiled, staring at the downpour. He remembered Odalys's warning. A man who valued his life wouldn't take chances.

"You're not going?" Windsor asked, raising an eyebrow.

Finnian's eyes were red, his knuckles white from clenching his fists. He watched the rain intensify and retreated to a corner.

"I'll stay here and watch Sophia," Finnian quickly said. "I don't want her contacting anyone."

Windsor nodded. "Fine. Keep her from contacting anyone. As long as we control her, it's good for us."

Windsor opened the door, used his umbrella, and stepped out into the night, disappearing into the rain. Finnian watched him go.

"What a monster," Finnian muttered, disgusted. "He can't even leave his adopted daughter alone. You're no better than me. If I wasn't desperate, I'd never associate with scum like you." He spat, his thoughts darkening. The thought of returning to the Lark family and tormenting Orson thrilled him. He shuddered and headed upstairs to check on Sophia.

Percival, having observed this, sighed quietly.

"He really is afraid of water," Percival remarked thoughtfully. "I never doubted you, Odalys, but seeing it firsthand is different."

"One life," Odalys replied calmly. "He's not risking it. Shall we follow Windsor?"

She sat back, arms crossed. She'd seen worse, especially from Finnian, who had tried to use her.

Percival looked at her, concerned. "Are you sure you're—" He hadn't started the car yet. He worried about her health; she'd been busy all day, and he wasn't sure how much more her body could take, especially after expending energy on the talisman.

"I'm fine," Odalys said. "Let's follow him. I need to see if he's going back to the Bennett Villa or somewhere else. My instincts tell me something's wrong." Her excitement was clear.

Percival didn't argue. He started the car and followed Windsor's vehicle toward the Bennett Villa. Odalys watched, her brow furrowed.

Could I be overthinking this? Odalys wondered.
