Chapter 448
Sophia hadn't expected Finnian to come after the Love Spell. If he got his hands on it, he could reclaim his lost luck, meaning her protection would be gone. Even worse, he had come out with Windsor before. Was this his idea, or was Windsor pulling the strings? Had Windsor abandoned her, too? Sophia wondered. After all, he had once been so fond of her. Three years ago, he had taken her innocence, promising to make her a top star if she behaved.
"Not talking, huh? Looks like you don't want your eyes anymore," Finnian sneered, losing his patience. With a malicious grin, he took a toothpick and aimed it at her eye. At the last second, he missed, stabbing her cheek instead. A sickening thunk echoed.
Sophia screamed in pain, her face burning. "Ah! My face!" she gasped, instinctively covering the wound, but the toothpick remained lodged deep in her flesh. She dared not touch it, her eyes wide with shock. Finnian had truly gone this far.
"Sorry, I missed," Finnian mocked with a twisted smile, watching her squirm. His satisfaction seemed almost pathological as he admired her suffering. Still grinning sadistically, he slowly pulled the toothpick out.
"Where should I stab next?" he asked.
Fresh blood poured down her face. Sophia groaned in pain, her body jolting as she collapsed to the ground, her head spinning. Finnian held the bloody toothpick, lifting her chin with it. His eyes gleamed with a disturbing hunger as the toothpick traced her neck, then slid dangerously close to her exposed skin.
Sophia trembled, a sickening dread filling her stomach. She inched backward, but he grabbed the strap of her top, yanking it as if to tear it apart. "Finnian, don't touch me!" she cried, her voice breaking with desperation.
Before she could finish, Finnian kicked her viciously in the ribs, silencing her pleas. "Touch you? Do you think I want to touch you?" he sneered, his voice cold. "Look at yourself! You really think you deserve anything from me? If you hadn't ruined my life, I would've been married to Odalys by now."
He leaned closer, his breath hot against her ear. "If you don't give me the Love Spell right now, I'll tear you apart. Believe me." He no longer possessed a shred of kindness. Life and death had become indistinguishable to him. These days, he didn't dare go out in the rain or touch water; within a month, he would rot and die. He didn't doubt Odalys's words; she wasn't the type to lie, and lying wouldn't benefit her. His life hung by a thread.
Biting her lip, Sophia whispered, "Let me go, and I'll give you the Love Spell."
As soon as she spoke, Finnian withdrew his hand. A mocking smile spread across his face. "Should've said that earlier, huh? No need to drag it out with all this nonsense."
Sophia pushed herself up, glaring at him with venom, wishing she could kill him. But her strength was no match for his. The Love Spell was her last trump card; she couldn't give it up easily. For now, she had to play along, bide her time, and wait for the right moment to escape.
Chapter 415
"I don't have it on me. But if you take me to the Bennett family, I'll get it for you," Sophia lied, her voice steady, though her heart pounded with fear.
Finnian narrowed his eyes, skeptical but intrigued. He wasn't about to trust her. "You think I'm stupid? If it were at the Bennett family, do you really think Windsor would still be after you? You think I'm an idiot?" Finnian roared, grabbing her hair and yanking her up roughly.
Sophia gasped, her scalp stinging as he dragged her to her feet. She couldn't fight him; he was too strong. His anger boiled over, and he punched her. She had no time to react, and crashed to the ground, her vision going black.
Finnian stood over her, breathing heavily. "Damn women, always a hassle." Grunting in frustration, he threw her over his shoulder like a ragdoll and carried her away into the shadows.
Meanwhile, someone had been watching. A figure emerged, quickly pulling out a phone. "Mr. Lark. I've been tracking Finnian. I have a video—should I continue following him?"
It was one of Orson's bodyguards. Orson, having received the call, immediately opened the video. He had been following Finnian since Odalys forced him to leave the hospital, determined to learn about Sophia's connection to the Love Spell. Finnian was desperate to recover his luck, and the bodyguard knew that continued surveillance would uncover the truth. "Continue following him. Don't let him out of your sight," Orson said coldly, plotting his next move.
Back at the Bennett villa, the house was eerily quiet. Hannah sat on the couch, shaking from pain. Atlas was at her side, administering a painkiller.
"Mom, if this keeps up, you won't last much longer. The painkillers are from illegal sources, and we're running out," Atlas said, concern etched on his face. Since offending Odalys, the Bennett family had been ostracized from all medical facilities affiliated with the Lark Group.
Hannah groaned in frustration. "Windsor still hasn't come back?" she asked weakly, her gaze unfocused.
"No. After Dad left last night, we haven't heard from him. His phone's off, and his friends say he hasn't contacted anyone since returning. It's like he's disappeared," Atlas reported nervously.
Hannah's face tightened. "Seems like he's really made up his mind to leave the Bennett family. All because of Sophia Did he really think he could fix everything just because she was carrying his child? Now look at the mess she's made!"
Her words were laced with bitterness and regret. If she had known Sophia would lead to this chaos, she would never have adopted her. But now, it was too late.
