Chapter 486

The cup rested in her hand as she saw Morpheus raise his own for a toast. Despite the distance between them, she inexplicably felt as though he were there. It was an eerie sensation, yet Odalys still raised her cup and clinked it against his. The two drank together across the void. She finished her coffee and looked back at Morpheus. Suddenly, she saw his hand reach toward her. His broad palm shielded her eyes, and when it covered her gaze, she was overcome by a wave of sleepiness.

That night, she slept unusually well. Her mind felt emptied, and she experienced an unprecedented sense of relaxation. Odalys stretched lazily, lying comfortably in bed. The next second, she opened her eyes abruptly, staring at the ceiling and then glancing around, breaking out in a cold sweat.

“I actually fell asleep!” Odalys murmured in disbelief.

She hurriedly took out her phone and found it was already noon. Last night, around 1 a.m., she and Percival had stayed with Evander under the tree until he fell asleep. Percival had then carried him back to his room. Afterward, Odalys returned to her room to shower and prepare for bed. She seemed to recall seeing Morpheus’s figure. He seemed to have handed her a cup, which she accepted and drank with him. Afterward, he had covered her eyes, and she had blacked out.

“I was dreaming?” Odalys found it unbelievable.

Climbing out of bed, she walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked out. Odalys stood there, gazing at the big tree for a long time before turning around to freshen up. Then, she noticed something unexpected: a delicate ceramic cup resting on the table near the window. On the edge of the cup, a word seemed to have been written with water: “Wait.”

Staring at the word, Odalys turned and walked to the neighboring room, knocking on the study door.

“Percival, are you home?” she called out.

Dorian heard her voice and hurried upstairs from downstairs, saying, “Mrs. Stewart, they have gone out.”

“They’ve gone out?” Odalys asked, puzzled.

Only then did she recall that she had overslept. It was already midday, so naturally, they wouldn’t still be home.

“Yes, Mr. Evander Stewart went to Magic Entertainment, and Mr. Percival Stewart went out with Callum. They both asked me to stay behind to prepare your meal,” Dorian explained.

Usually, Evander would take him along to Magic Entertainment. But since Odalys had overslept, he had been left behind to attend to her.

“Come with me,” Odalys said.

She beckoned him to follow her, leading him into her room. Standing by the window, she pointed to the cup and the word written on its side. “Do you recognize this?” she asked.

Confused, Dorian followed behind her, somewhat bewildered.

As his eyes fell on the word, he moved closer and studied it carefully. After a moment, he let out a startled gasp. “This isn’t… this is Mr. Morpheus’s handwriting!” he exclaimed.

Without waiting, he rushed out and soon returned, carrying a book. Flipping through its pages, he held it out to Odalys.

“Look! This is a notebook from when Mr. Morpheus Stewart was alive. Mr. Evander Stewart couldn’t bear to part with it, so he kept it,” Dorian explained.

“The handwriting really is the same,” Odalys remarked, taking the book and examining it.

Dorian’s face turned pale, and he hesitated, wanting to say something.

“Mrs. Stewart, Stewart Villa isn’t haunted or anything like that. Please don’t be frightened. Maybe… maybe Mr. Percival Stewart wrote this as a prank. Don’t you think?” he stammered, clearly unnerved.

He was panicking. If Odalys thought Stewart Villa was haunted and got scared away, it would be a disaster. Percival’s marriage was supposed to bring good fortune to the family, and losing her now would undo all their efforts. At that moment, Dorian really wanted to slap himself to stay alert.

“Got it,” Odalys said.

Closing the book, she turned her gaze back to the word “wait” on the cup. Though it was written in water, it showed no signs of disappearing.

“Mrs. Stewart, are you hungry? What would you like for lunch? I’ll prepare something for you,” Dorian asked, his voice filled with nervous energy. Odalys looked out at the large tree through the window, her expression unreadable.

“Just spaghetti. Keep it simple,” she replied.

Dorian responded quickly and turned to walk out, not forgetting to close the door behind him. Odalys took out her phone and snapped a photo, sending it to Percival. When no reply came, she put her phone away and massaged her temples before heading to the bathroom. Looking at herself in the mirror, her skin was flawless with a healthy hue. Her eyes looked sharper and more vibrant than ever.

Then Odalys winced in pain. She accidentally brushed her hand against the edge of the counter, causing blood to well up from the small cut and drip into the sink. The next moment, to her astonishment, the wound healed itself. She repeatedly rubbed the wound and found that the scar was gone. Odalys made another cut, and blood continued to ooze out. She put her finger on the faucet and washed it. After the blood was washed away, the wound healed again.

“This is incredible. How do I have this ability?” Odalys murmured, astonished.

She had always been in good health with a strong constitution, recovering quickly from injuries with minimal rest. However, this was beyond anything she had experienced before. She wondered if this had something to do with her retrieval of the astrological signs from under the thurible when she was trapped at the junction of energy. She pondered why he wrote the “wait” on the table beside the cup. She figured it might be related to the coffee she drank from Morpheus last night. Everything felt mysterious, as if an unseen hand was guiding her to uncover the truth.

After finishing her morning routine, Odalys opened her wardrobe and selected a pair of high-waisted jeans and a white blouse. Grabbing her phone, she headed downstairs. The mouthwatering aroma of food greeted her as soon as she descended the stairs, prompting her to quicken her pace.

“Dorian, what delicious food have you made?” Odalys asked with delight. After the exhausting events of the previous night and eating sparingly at the Tillery family’s residence, coupled with her long sleep, her stomach had been growling incessantly since she woke up.

“I made spaghetti with meatballs, along with some salt-and-pepper shrimp and roasted broccoli,” Dorian said as he brought out the food. The table was already set with a spread that looked, smelled, and promised to taste incredible.

Odalys eagerly pulled out a chair and sat down. “Dorian, your cooking is amazing,” she praised as she began eating.

Embarrassed by the compliment, Dorian quietly wiped his hands.

“You’re not eating?” Odalys asked.

Dorian scratched his head and waved his hand dismissively. “I’ll eat with Mr. Evander Stewart later. Evander just called me. He said Mr. Clarence Lark and a few other friends are meeting him at Magic Entertainment for a meal. He told me to join them later,” Dorian explained, sounding slightly self-conscious.

Though he was a butler, he had accompanied Evander through countless trials over the years. The family never treated him as a mere servant and often included him in their gatherings.

“Oh! Then you’d better hurry along. No need to wait for me. I’ll clean up after I’m done eating,” Odalys said, waving her hand.

Seeing her insistence, Dorian quickly removed his apron and prepared to leave.
